Competition Name: The Perfect Date - 2006 Valentine's Day Art Contest
Competition End Date: Friday 3rd February 2006

It's almost time for February 14th, the date that cupids sling their arrows into the hearts of those we hold dear.  While Valentine's Day has never been the best day for Harry, we have a suspicion that it could be better this time around (that is, if Ginny has anything to say about it)!  And how about for Remus and Tonks and for our longest-suffering pair, Ron and Hermione?  What would a perfect date be for them?

We are calling all of our fabulous artists here at PhoenixSong – those whose artwork graces the pages of Plumage and all new artists who might be lurking out there – to take up the challenge and illustrate the perfect Valentine's Day date for our favorite pairs – Harry and Ginny, or Ron and Hermione, or Remus and Tonks.

The winner will have their work displayed on the Plumage main page throughout the month of March!

Submission period for artwork will run from January 23rd at 12 PM Pacific Time and end February 3rd at 12 PM Pacific Time.  As with our last contest, all site visitors are invited to vote for their favorites.  Public voting will run from February 5th at 12 PM Pacific Time and end February 13th at 12 PM Pacific Time.  The Founders and Admins reserve the right to edit submitted images as necessary to facilitate online display (i.e. reducing image/file size, adjusting brightness/contrast/saturation to improve viewability over the web), without changing the integrity of the artwork. 

Winners will be announced on February 14th!

Entry Specification Instructions: 

• Each artist is limited to entering up to two (2) pieces for the contest
• You MUST be a registered user of PS.net to participate.  If you haven't registered, please click here for our registration page.
• All images should be saved in jpg format.
• Resolution should be 72dpi (web resolution) and please compress (jpg).
• Resize the image so that it is no taller than 400 pixels and no wider than 600 pixels (be sure that you have "maintain aspect ratio" selected when you resize!!!). 
• Crop your image so that it is not wasting visual space.  File size should be no larger than 100kb!  If you are unfamiliar how to accomplish these tasks, contact us newfeathers at phoenixsong dot net (please replace the "at" and "dot" with appropriate symbols) and we will assist you.

Competition Name: “Half-Blood Prince” Art Contest
Competition End Date: Wednesday 19th October 2005

We've had several weeks to savor the delights from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  What better way of celebrating PhoenixSong's second anniversary than to have a contest that celebrates J.K. Rowling's sixth book of the series, AND one that confirmed all of our shipping dreams come true!

We are calling all of our fabulous artists here at PhoenixSong – those whose artwork graces the pages of Plumage and all new artists who might be lurking out there – to take up the challenge and illustrate something from Harry's adventures in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". 

The winner will have their work displayed on the Plumage main page throughout the month of November.

Submission period for artwork will run from September 29 at 12 PM Central Time and end October 19th at 12 PM Central Time.  As with our last contest, all site visitors are invited to vote for their favorites.  Public voting will run from October 20 – 28.  The Founders and Admins reserve the right to edit submitted images as necessary to facilitate online display (i.e. reducing image/file size, adjusting brightness/contrast/saturation to improve viewability over the web), without changing the integrity of the artwork.

Competition Name: 2004 Holiday Art Contest
Competition End Date: Monday 13th December 2004

PhoenixSong.net is hosting a Holiday Art Contest!  We're looking for images of Harry and/or his friends, family and guardians in a holiday setting.  These can be depictions from canon events, from your favorite fan fiction story (and if that's the case, be sure to let us know which one it is) or something from your own imagination, as long as it is in keeping with our general submission guidelines. The winner will have their work displayed on the Plumage main page until we have another contest and a new winner.

Competition Name: The Past, Present and Future
Competition End Date: Tuesday 14th September 2004

What better way to celebrate our first anniversary than to have an art contest that depicts the past, present or future of one Mr. Harry Potter?

We are calling all of our fabulous artists here at PhoenixSong – those whose artwork graces the pages of Plumage and all new artists who might be lurking out there – to take up the challenge and illustrate something from Harry's past, present, or future. This could include any illustrations from canon, in addition to illustrations that could have happened to Harry (or any other canon character) in the past or will happen in the future. This could include pictures of characters, creatures, future children, weddings – anything that has to do with Harry Potter and his friends.

The winner will have their work displayed on the Plumage main page until we have another contest and a new winner.

Competition Name: First Semi-Annual PhoenixSong Fanfic Illustration Contest!
Competition End Date: Sunday 23rd May 2004

We believe that we have some of the finest HP Fanfic writers on the 'net, and what better way to show our appreciation of their wonderful work than to invite our artists to draw their favorite scenes? We all have our favorite "moments" from fanfics, and now is your chance to show them off! Since we're planning to have this kind of contest on a regular basis, we're limiting them to themes so that the idea doesn't get stale. The theme for this one is romantic couples… spring is in the air, bees are buzzing, and students are staring out the windows daydreaming about their love lives (as are some of the professors!). What romantic moment from the fics on PhoenixSong really captured YOUR attention? This time, throw canon to the wind and lavish that visual praise on our own esteemed authors – we know they'll love you for it

It's Valentine's Day, let's celebrate the love! How is love depicted (overtly, subtly, or even between the lines) in the five books the lovely Ms. Rowling has given us so far? Don't limit yourself to romantic love here, there are all kinds of love and all are worth celebrating! Submit a visual representation of how you see love depicted in one of the five books! Our esteemed Founders will select a handful of finalists and we'll hold a poll on Perch to let the members pick the winner. The winner will have their work displayed on the Plumage main page until we have another contest and a new winner, not to mention the honor of being the first featured artist on the new Plumage section! Help us get our Plumage section off to a good start with your submissions!

Since this IS a ship-restricted site, if it's a romantic love depiction, it must be consistent with the scene you're depicting from canon, AND if you chose to "read between the lines" our two main ships are H/G and R/Hr. Please don't send us H/Hr romantic stuff, it squicks us out to no end.
