| I've got the feeling the story left me haning, don't know how to say it different. It just like its a piece of a story and I'm missing the end. |

I like this war torn universe, and hopes it leads to The Lighthouse again.
So that's how Ginny learned so much. |

| This was really great. I hope you continue Lighthouse as well; even though JKR seemed to imply that Harry might not make it, I love the stories where Harry has a life past year 7. |

So Hogwarts really didn't reopen?
"It was funny, Ginny thought, as falling snow mixed with falling leaves. I almost feel like I’m dead", "Three months without sun had dulled her skin and personality", "She felt like the princess locked in the tower without any prince to rescue her" : One can actually *see* Ginny sitting in her room, alone.
Snape's diary opened up possibilities, didn't it? I would have never thought of improving or inventing new spells, anyway.
And I really love Fleur, now... She was brilliant, already in "Perfectly lovely", but here... *blows kiss to Fleur*
Great work! |

| That was amazing. I really liked The Lighthouse before and now look forward to the rewrite with renewed interest. The Ginny you've created here is going to be a force to be reckoned with. |

Poor Ginny!
I can almost relate, being at home everyday for nearly a year...*shudders*
Will there be a follow up on this story?
If so, !
Thank you for sharing your story. |

Yes, there will be a few followups, actually.
First, something directly after, called Victory, dealing with the postwar period, and then a rewrite of an earlier fic of mine, The Lighthouse, to fit with these oneshots and HBP canon. |

| Brilliant description , although I would deplore it if the Weasleys were so oblivious. |
Starrika Thursday 2nd February 2006 12:05 | Waiting (Author Response) |
See, I didn't think of it as the Weasleys being oblivios. When I first set off to write this, I thought about them sending Ginny to France, both for school, and to keep her safe. But Molly has been so protective of her children, I can easily see her thinking that keeping Ginny under lock and key, and close, is the only way to keep her safe.
As for the rest of them, well, there is a war going on, and so they're a little bit busier than normal. Bill and Fleur, being the closest to Ginny, knew a little of what was going on, and tried to give her things to occupy her. |

Oh, this is rather scary! The tone of your story reminds me very much of the "Diary of Anne Frank" in that Ginny isn't allowed to go outside and that she is teaching herself. The only thing missing is the admonishment to stay quiet during the day. Thank goodness for Fleur! Who would have thought Ginny would learn to appreciate her sister-in-law! Adversity does strange things to people, indeed...
Thank you for sharing this thought-provoking story with us. I'm going back to read it again. |

Thank you! I hadn't thought about the comparisons to Diary of Anne Frank, but now that you've mentioned it, I see it as well.
Adversity does do strange things, as you'll see in the follow ups to this. |

| Ugh! I am so frustrated! Which is a sign of your good writing and drawing me in to Ginny's mood. This was a great snapshot of a very horrible year for Ginny. I love your Fleur - very admirable! |
Starrika Thursday 2nd February 2006 12:01 | Waiting (Author Response) |
I was feeling quite frustrated when I wrote this and just channeled it into what Ginny would feel. I'm glad it worked!
I love Fleur, too. I wrote 'Perfectly Lovely,' and she's just grown from there. I like her as a strong woman that we got a glimpse of in HBP, rather than a shallow, flighty woman. |
