I almost didn't finish reading this chapter for two reasons. First, it seemed so out of character for Ron, who hates being poor, to not do better at business, especially if he has Hermione to make sure he's organized. Second, while Ron broods in canon I found Ron's self-recrimination quite depressing. However, I persisted and did enjoy the parts the other characters are playing. I also like the sense of mystery you have incorporated into this chapter, leaving several key questions unanswered for the next chapter to resolve. The Gift of the Magi is one of my favorite all-time storieas and I think you're doing a creditable job of addapting the story to suit the HP universe. I look forward to the next chapter.
It took me awhile, reading your story, to remember the plot-line of the Gift of the Magi . Our school made us read it when we were in 6th grade, and, honestly, it was one of the better stories. You just wrote this so well, I couldn't tell 'till half way through that I'd already read something like it. Great job!
Oooooo. Gift Of The Magi is on of my favorites This is a great elaboration of that theme. Poor Ron and Hermione. Who would have guessed hse would have gone into defending helpless creatures I'm very anxious to see what happens with those pictures, and the bits of parchment.
