This continues to be an engrossing read, as you can tell by my continuous reading of it. I am so very impressed and I love how Ginny is the key, which is what I believed all along and then was shocked when I read the book .
:O:O darn pansy darn pansy... i was right though....
i could see harry somehow throwing off that curse binding him and someone not really swallowing the potion....
Yet more excitement, to say the least. You've built nicely on what you began in the last chapter and added more than enough reason to doubt the good guys that the tension, drama and flow really picked up. And I really like that you've rooted the danger in unexplored canon. Good going -- very Jo-like.
Now, with the way you've positioned all your pieces, I'm finding myself focusing on Snape as the potential wild card. I know that if it were me writing from this point in the story (not that I'd flatter myself to think I could ever write a story good enough to create a dramatic point like this), this would be a moment where I couldn't resist a major twist, having Snape show his hidden allegence to the good.
I can't help thinking that Snape's attempt to help Pansy and Voldemort's "soft" line are subtle hints that you might be thinking along the same lines, so I'm going to hazard a guess that the potion's a fake, something just strong enough to fool Voldemort. Of course, your Snape has done little to make one doubt his loyalty to the Dark Lord so I might be totally off base. I'm sure I'll enjoy how this unfolds either way.
One other thing I especially appreciated in this chapter:
Lying on the floor, useless and discarded, was what was left of Pansy’s wand. It had transformed into one of the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes’ rubber chickens.
Maybe I just have an odd sense of humor, but that just broke me up. It's clever, ironic and in such stark contrast to everything else happening in that scene that it just struck me as a completely hilarious thing for you to do. Well done.
Anyway, thanks for another interesting chapter. I'm definitely excited to see how this all plays out.
Heh -- you fooled me a bit: I was almost certain that the person who showed up unexpectedly was not actually Pansy, but was either Hermione or Ginny, Polyjuiced & acting the role of Pansy
Aye, the Draught of Living Death seems apropos here.
Quite the cliffhanger, there.... Well done (of course)!
OH MY GOD!!
I'm screaming right now. Screaming at the top of my lungs!! OH MY GOD! How could you leave us like that? Of course, that's exactly what I would have done, but....
HOW COULD YOU??
I've been reading all the chapters in one go, but I've been so anxious to read the next chapter, that I haven't reviewed. I suppose, in a way, that's almost as good of a compliment as a review! I just couldn't get away!
I LOVED this chapter. It was probably one of my favorites, aside from Christmas! It had me on the edge of my seat and I really did start screaming at the end *blushes*. I get a little carried away at times.
My all-time favorite part:
Dobby, who had remained silent during the entire exchange stood in front of Malfoy scowling, his arms folded across his chest.
“He kicked me!” Draco said incredulously.
“And Dobby will kick the bad Malfoy boy again if he keeps speaking about Harry Potter that way,” Dobby said.
Ha ha! That was hilarious and I loved it!
oh please update soon! I can't bear to wait any longer than I already have (which is 5 minutes)
Eagerly awaiting the next chapter,
Delfino
“Great. Another one,” Malfoy mumbled, rubbing his leg and rolling his eyes.
Oh oh oh! Upon umpteenth re-read, I have a suspicion that the human transfiguaration that Ginny was trying to study will come in handy in trying to get Harry away from there. Turn him into a comb or something light enough to carry in her back pocket. Was it this fic that had Harry saying that Ginny\'s back pocket wasn\'t a bad place to be? If so, was it a clue? Hmm...oh please update! It\'s only Sunday and I\'m already going crazy...
I got a chance to get on here right quick. I know you're in the middle of a move, so I'll make this short. i left in another reply to you why I've been missing in action, but I couldn't let another chapter go by without a review.
This was an absolutely amazing chapter. I can't wait to see how this all ends. you are doing a fantastic job with this novel. I'm so proud to have been along for the ride.
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what happens when Draco finds out about Pansy. I hope Ginny gets to Harry in time.
That stone. It is going to somehow tell Ginny were to go or something along those lines isn't it? But very good. And poor Draco. Wow. I just said that. But the poor thing is is the Pansy thing. When he learns about it. Very good chapter. Kept me on my toes the whole time.
Oh. My. Word! The descriptions of fear that you gave to Harry and the panic to the rest of them back at Hogwarts made my hair stand on end. I feel claustraphobic for Harry at this point...! I'm wondering, first and foremost, when you will update again. Surely, you don't expect us all to wait a whole week for an update....That's just as cruel and criminal as Voldy himself! Speaking of Voldemort, you wrote him brilliantly. The way I read him, I imagined him to be quite calm yet so sinister you could feel the very essence of Hell about him. Everything about him -- from his perfectly manicured, rotting nails, to his snake-like face, to his warm breath against Harry's skin -- made me absolutely tremble with fear and anticipation. (Of course I'm also looking forward to seeing Harry's eyes close for what Voldy hopes is the last time... I know it won't be the last time b/c there are several more chapters to go and Voldy just has to die...)
I wonder though, since we are nearing the end, what has become of the Burrow? Unless I misread. the only reason they've all avoided it was because Wormtail spied on them all and reported back, But Wormtail is gone now, and Hogwarts is under siege. Surely the gang will have to have somewhere to take Harry so they can brew the anecdote, yeah? You spent entirely too long on making Harry make the Burrow's wards perfect for it not to come back into play...I think.
I also think these next few weeks are going to be absolute torture! Feel free to ignore the once a week updates trend and update more often... Can't wait!
I'm very naughty and don't review every chapter, but I do look forward to your weekly updates.
My jaw literally dropped when the pseduo-casket appeared. OH MY GOD! How incredibly morbid! I think I was more horrified than Harry! I'm trying to remember if Snape is playing both sides in your story or not... I'm hoping that he is so that maybe he'll be the last one left with Harry and can either give him the antidote or maybe brewed the potion wrong. Why do I always find myself counting on Snape to save Harry at the last minute?
I'm really hoping that Ron and Co. make it to Harry in time! I can't wait for the next chapter to find out!
