Wonderful details told with perfect, heart-breaking funeral numbness. I love some of the more random thoughts (ebony tears, the vampire in daylight, white toes curling in the grass) and the last sentence especially. Really well done! |

A very sweet, very moving vignette. Remus is such an introspective character, and you've managed to capture that beautifully here. I particularly love this line:
Children who really aren’t children anymore should have at least one more summer’s day like this one.

| I loved the tone of this story - gentle elegy, I'd call it. Some events are too big to comprehend at first, and people try to distance themselves by paying attention to details. Remus was doing just that, in his thoughtful manner. He also comes across as very lonely until the last paragraph. Great one-shot. |
