Oh, I forgot to mention one tiny thing: Ginny hurrying to Harry through the fire and all - it reminds me of the glimpses of the HBP Burrow attack scene we were shown in the trailers (are you sure the filmmakers weren't inspired by your scene?)
And as I've just read through you reviews and responses: did JKR really tell us what exactly Ginny's Patronus was? Where? And WHAT? (I still hope it's not the OOTP horse - why on earth would it be a horse? I'd understand a mule though )

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe they did "steal" it. I do know that a few of the cast members have read The Hogs Head, but I don't know if any have read LEO.
As to your second paragraph. I think that JKR did at some point say that Ginny's patronus is a horse. Kind of silly, IMO. Your mule is a good one. Perfect!
If canon Ginny had really been as important as it seemed she was destined to be in the books (but never really was) then a phoenix would have been completely right for her.
Finally! Finally - I've had some time for reading, finally - the snog, finally - Harry's his old flaming self again, quite literally
I realy love the balance of this chapter. There's Ginny's excitement and the Pygmy Puffs, there are Fred&George and Fleur and their humor, there's Mrs.Weasley and her worries, there's the quiet beauty of the sunrise and of course, there are the Dementors and the Patronus. Everything's carefully measured & dosed, there's nothing too much.
So much happens within your chapters, I actually think I'd do with a sheet of paper and a pen for note-taking!
However, I was a bit sorry to read one tiny part - Molly not allowing Ginny to say the incantation (Well, under the influence of Grandma Kate's wonderful stories I can't help myself thinking Molly would allow Ginny this simple (?) spell under her supervision; the trace isn't really a problem as it can't in fact indicate who exactly performed the charm. Anyway, you're in charge here, of course)
Going to read the next chapter right now, lack of time can bring some advantages sometimes!

Thank you for this long review; I enjoy long ones. I consider this chapter to be the best one I ever wrote, for any of my stories. The title is words from a song written for the movie Cold Mountain. The complete line expresses exactly how I picture Ginny: "Love is from a distance calling, faithful as the rising sun."
Grand chapter. Harry and Ginny, together again. Sigh! This passage was vivid enough that I was not surprised at Harry's Super Stag-
A red halo blazed around her head as sunlight streamed through her hair. Harry saw the world on fire with Ginny in the center. His heart was also burning;
Incidentally, I also was certain that I had read that Ginny's patronus was a phoenix and had it be so a couple of stories ago, but some of my readers did not agree.

Thanks, Kate. This chapte is actually my all-time best, in my opinion.
I don't think JKR specified Ginny's patronus until after DH was published, or maybe right around that time. When the OotP movie came out, I was under the impression that she had told the film makers what everyone's patronus was, like Luna.s begin a rabbit which it is in the film. Maybe the people who saw the preview jiust were wrong.
At any rate, the powers of a phoenix come up later in the story, so I didn't want to change it in this chapter. It's an AU story anyway.
Excellent chapter! Glad to see Harry and Ginny back together. Harry seems to have he's power back. That could only spell trouble for Voldie. Thanks for sharing.

Harry rocks! Especially when he has Ginny at his side.
