That Muted Sort of Longing
It made me laugh, smile, and feel warmed as if in a loving hug. It's nice to see goo things happen to Ginny even when the understanding of it all is yet to come. Keep up the good work.

That Muted Sort of Longing
Dear Serendipity,

Another excellent chapter to your story. We rarely get to see students interact with those from other houses, and the idea of Ginny working with a familiar is different and surprising. One question though. . . Would an animal really be such a strain on the family resources? It’s just Ginny and Ron at home now, rather than the whole family. Couldn’t they let her have a kitten? I like the idea of Rufus the turtle though. I laughed out loud at the image of students being summoned randomly during the search. And for some sick reason, I always find the idea of Ron getting hexed funny.

Very sweet moment where Harry offers up Hedwig, despite his love for the owl. Nice way to show he’s beginning to feel something for Ginny.

The next section had some very strong angst. Poor Ginny, the guilt, frustration and shame must have been hard to take. I would feel like I let down McGonagall too. We all give in to those moments where why me kicks in, and Gin has a right to it at that moment. I’m glad you had her pull herself together quickly though. I’ve always felt Ginny is basically a positive person, and little sisters rarely wallow for fear of be called a baby. (A little real life observation. Grin.)

Yay! Something good happens for our sweet heroine! What an honor to be chosen by a phoenix. I’m so glad. It would have been enough for one to answer the call, but a room full of the most magical creatures around seems almost a miracle. Pandimonium in the 5th years’ dorm rooms, and Fawkes leading the way- subtle moment of Dumbledore’s concern until he sees his own familiar. McGinagall letting the boys stay was a surprise, but again, I like the fact that Neville is included. He’s always seemed to have a soft spot for Ginny.

You did a lovely job describing the connective moment between Ginny and her phoenix. Of course she shares another visual connection seconds later- this time with our hero! Very unique idea of strands illustrating everyone’s relationship towards each other. The different levels of love trust and history were shown here in a different and emotional way. I wasn’t expecting you to make the Harry Ginny thread so vague, and fragile. Wouldn’t the wizard debt alone connect them, not to mention at least a moderately close summer? That said, intriquing use of the bond. A little vibration, and they both feel it? That has some nice, sexy possibilities. (Hee Hee. Snicker.)

Once again, a great ending line to your chapter. It’s about time Harry gets flustered over their relationship.

Thanks for posting another great chapter, and my thanks to your betas as well. I can’t wait to see if Harry says anything to Ginny about what they shared. Does he realize they shared it? And where did you get the name Maeven? What does it mean? Will keep reviewing,
