Hmpf. Ginny's revenge on Malfoy certainly worked... but the author should keep in mind that playing with a prejudice in such a way might (inadvertently) strenghen it.

Nevertheless, this is a wonderfully entertaining story! :-)

This Means War!
The first two chapters were great, but this one was hilarious ! The failed attempt to embarrass Harry into breaking up with Ginny was great, and the way that Ginny used that moment to begin her plan to ruin Malfoy's life was perfect.

I also truly loved how you explained Snape's decision to ally himself with Team Potter/Weasley. It was perfect Slytherin calculation and tactics and explained his shift in attitude. (I'd never thought before now about how the sneakiness of Ginny [and the twins] could be thought of as a Slytherin tendency, but I can see that line of thought. I'm just glad that they have the bravery and chivalry of Gryffindors to keep them from going to the Dark side.) I also loved how all of the students jumped onto the "Draco is gay" bandwagon after hearing enough of the study-group members parrot this idea. So classic.

Fantastic job!

Nice make-up ably assisted by Lav and Parvati. It looks like Ron's devious plot was magnificently filoed and ably taken advantage of by Hermione and Ginny and the revenge group on Draco. I am so enjoying this continuous series of pranks. I wonder who will be teaching Harry how to dance?

I like the betting on the battle -- and the Weasley boys have fired the first salvo.
And Malfoy sure got it good .
A lot of good humour in this story .

This Means War!

[I've had this review lying around in draft form for a long time, so I'm just going to post it. This story is great fun.]

"I have given Pansy two weeks['] detention. One week for her participation[,] and one week for losing to a [I]Weasley[/I] of all people."

:)

"I can't have my senior Ravenclaw prefect engaged in a cross-school fight – and losing."

:)

If Flitwick manages to find the spell to recreate what happened before the girls entered the Hall, other people would like to have a look, too.

Famous last words, about not being able to intercept mmail on a private M.A.N.

Severus' mmail to "the technophobic plant lover" should be to Minnie and Pommie, not Minnie and Pomfrey - he's obviously still continuing his conversation with the other Heads of House.

"He might not be the sort to be that petty, but Ms. Weasley is."

"I feel that as teachers, we need to step into this immediately."

Pity about Hooch, I'd've hoped she had a more realistic assessment of Harry's capabilities.

I like Hermione's spy network. It makes perfect sense that a lot of people would owe her for serious academic help.

The boys have some nerve, worrying about Ginny's virtue.

I rather enjoy the fanon conceit that Lavender and Parvati, in a girly situation within their sphere of expertise, could be very bossy and intimidating indeed. Here we have them on the subject of the right apology look, for instance. In a similar vein, Omnifarious cast them as terrifying wedding planners in _The Wedding of the Boy Hero_. I daresay that if it came to matchmaking for one of their friends, they'd be able to plan strategy in a most impressive manner, as well.

[laughs] Lavender and Parvati and Hermione seem to be channeling all the frustrated H/G shippers out there: hex Ron if he tries to mess this up. Nice that Dean got into the act, too; he's had it with Ginny's brothers, and no wonder.

[grin] Padfoot suspects Harry's motives, but just thinks that means Harry's coming along well as the next generation of MWPP. Padfoot's definitely not a hypocrite.

Canon nitpicks:
- Percy's full name is Percy Ignatius Weasley, not "Percival C. Weasley". Fudge would've called him Percival in full at the disciplinary hearing if that were his name, in my opinion, and did call him by his middle name in full.

Copyediting nitpicks:
- "Heads of House" is the correct plural form, not "Head of Houses" - the term refers to several people holding similar positions, not one person holding the same position for multiple Houses.
- On the mmail, be careful about the spelling of "Minnie" - the 2nd 'I' is occasionally being dropped.
- Trelawney's given name is "Sybill", nonstandard spelling. (I sympathize; I have to consciously remember that the old bat uses a weird spelling to keep from messing it up myself.)
- "nothing to be ashamed of" takes only 1 'F'.

You know, you'd be horribly scarey to attend Hogwarts with.  Your prank ideas would put the marauders to shame.  Wow!  Great story.

Oh my gosh!! I don't know what was funnier, the banter between the professors or the revenge on Draco.  And Snape changing sides--woah--if only Jo would let it happen. Bravo.

Dear Jeconais,
Chapter three of this story was excellent. The email angle grows on me as I read the story. I appreciated the way you used the mmail form as a way to showcase the prof.s personalities and relationships, as well as glossing over the lecture Ginny was sure to get. I wasn't getting this in the first two chapters, but I'm comfortable with it now. (Snape would be horrified that Harry got such attention and Minnie did gloat.) The headers are great, and anytime I can picture Alan Rickman saying something like "smutty inuendos" is a good day. I love the idea of Snape as bookie. A slytherin would consider all the angles.

I was worried for a while that my lighthearted romantic comedy was going to drag out the H/G relationship with undue angst. That said, I think you handled this situation just right. Ginny had underestimated Harry. She got so consumed by the plotting against her brother, and competing against the other girls, she forgot that he has feelings and can make his own decisions. A little flare up, and one heck of an apology later, and I got a perfectly fluffy scene and the issue was addressed believably. At least for me.

Of course the Weasley boys have a plan of action for all of Gin's men. (I bet my brothers did too.) Loved to see their interaction, but even better, was Ron's whole house hexing him into submission for Harry and Ginny's sake. HEE! In this vein, nice use of Lav and Pav. Not characters I think of really, and you've given them an interesting part. I'm curious to see how this plot point evolves.

Quite a bit of plotting in this chapter-between poor Harry living out a pretty common teen nightmare, and Ginny ripping open Draco's closet door-shocking! Grin. Was that what the code said? We finally hear our first declaration of War- given by Harry no less. Snape putting the final nail in the Draco plan was classic. I would love to see Sev and Ginny work together. They are both just evil enough to achieve greatness.

Just a little worried about Harry moving faster than a speeding bullet. Is this Super Harry or Neo Harry. I can't wait to read the next chapter to find out. Once again an extremely well written chapter. You have a wonderful sense of humor and your characterization feels real and warm. Although this is the first of your stories I have read, it has been uniformly excellent. I look forward to reading it all and will do so as soon as I can. Thank you for taking the time to create and share your ideas, and pass along my thanks to your editors. Best Regards, Your new fan,

A note on the odds: Sev offers 4:1 on the Weasley boys winning, 2:1 on Potter.

If you're describing the odds as they do in Las Vegas (where picking Red or Black on Roulette is described as a 1:1 bet), then this makes no sense whatsoever. I could, for instance, place a thousand Galleons on Potter and another thousand on the Weasley Boys (WBs) -- then, if Harry and Ginny were to stay together, I would be a thousand Galleons ahead, and if they were to separate then I would be three thousand Galleons ahead.

The math: I place two bets of a thousand Galleons each. One will win and one will lose. We know what happens on the losing bet: I lose a thousand Galleons. As for the winning bet, I will win two thousand if Potter wins, and four thousand if the WBs win. Plus, if I win, I get to keep my original bet.

The payouts will have to be changed.

This is my favorite chapter in the whole story so far (posted through chapter 8, as of this writing.)

My lack of gambling experience was pointed out by quite a few people - its the reason I kept it open and Snape moved onto gambling the lot for Harry later.
