I'm glad you always do missing moments from your stories, its alway nice to know that if I want to read something in more detail I can read one of your missing moment stories.

I don't usually write R/Hr, so this story was a stretch for me. Thanks for reading!

I'm glad you liked it. I don't write R/Hr very much, but I like that ship when someone else does it! Thanks for reading!

Woot! Go Ron! Haha that's greater than what I had thought it'd be just from the details in Red Is The Heart, but that's just my lack of romantic imagination haha.
All your stories (not that I've read them all yet) have been amazing. As one who doesn't like reviewing often, I find myself actually enjoying letting you know that you're brilliant! And, as I've said before, haha, I look forward to all your written works ^_^

So many H/G fans don't like R/Hr fan fiction. I don't read a lot of it, but maybe it's because some writers go overboard on the arguing. I think they argue alot - but that they're always *saying* something important to each. It's just the way they communicate - there isn't always hostility behind it. So that' s my take on R/Hr. Thanks for reading!

Yay little fluff-let! I'm going back and re-reading these little wallpaper outtakes again just to remember them. The Ron/Hermione pairing always seems to amuse me. It's the very definition of a polar opposite relationship. The fact that in your story, Hermione goes out of her way to use her famous book skills to become acquainted with Quidditch is a nice touch. It shows that she really wants to relate with Ron and be a part of his normal life, to like what he likes, to talk freely about games and generally to spend more time with him. Ron is really endearing by not giving in to his natural urge to be argumentative with Hermione and that sentiment is a big key to their relationship. They give and take, they compromise, but really, they simply become one with each other. I know, that seems sappy and corny, but that's how I see it anyway.. A lot to be reading out of a little fliclet..

I think R/Hr have to work harder in the day-to-day things just because their temperments are different, but in the end, they like the challenge. H/G are a much more "organic" pairing, I think. They approach life the same way and they've never hurt each other deliberately. They would have the peaceful life while R/Hr would be stormier - and I think that's how both couples want it. Thanks for reading!

A new discovery by me ... love it!! You have such a talent for writing believable fluff XD

Ron is so cute and both of them are in character. Dean and Seamus' bickering made me laugh and I liked their meal in the cafe. Great job!

I'm glad you liked this! It's an oldy - goldy - before HBP came out. I remember one reviewer saying that Ron wouldn't be that forward on a date - that Hermione would be more aggressive. I was glad HBP put that idea to rest!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the review!  This is an oldie of mine - but I still like it.  Hope R/Hr can take some time out from Horcrux hunting to have a few moments like these.

"Oops." He stopped until she could regain her balance. "I'll slow down," he said, taking her gloved hand. She nodded and didn't pull away. Even through two layers of wool, his hand felt warmer holding hers. They carefully picked their way down the rest of the slope to Hogsmeade.

How sweet!

And I love how Ron knew there was a new book shop and that he suggested going there to Hermione!!!

This part was great too:

After walking a few steps, he took her hand. "This way I'll know if I'm going too fast."

She squeezed his hand, which sent waves of warmth through him. "You're not going too fast."

Hrm, Demiguises again, eh?

Great outtake -- back to the main story now!

Nothing like a bit o' fluff.  It was fun to write this scene because I already had it straight in my mind.  Ron is a great POV to use.  I've done some other things with him on the Quill and I do enjoy him as a character.

"I think it is more OotP R/Hr which is a lot more complicated and fraught with fear:  Hermione would reach out, Ron would rebuff - then Ron would try and Hermione would rebuff. I tried to capture a little of that fear in this story."

You did that excellently--one of my favorite aspects of the story.  I started out my fanfic addictions with R/Hr stuff, but got burnt out on them pretty quick.  This story reminded me about why I used to like them.  Your Ron was perfect--precisely how I saw him developing in Book Five.  Very nicely done.  :)

Thanks Jenn!  I really like Ron and I think he gets the short end of the stick in a lot of fan fiction.  He was fun to write. (But not as much fun as Harry)

This was absolutely delightful. I loved the way each of them was going out of the way to do things the other wanted to do.  Ron was so sweet, trying to 'read' Hermione while still being absolutely certain that this was what he wanted to be doing with her. Loved it!

Oh, I'm glad you got that about Ron - when he does know what he wants, he will do it - think of him playing chess in Philosopher's Stone, etc . . . He might have some insecurities, but he focuses he's a different guy.

I have to admit I'm not so much a Ron/Hermione fan as a Harry/Ginny fan so I rarely read any of their fics unless Harry/Ginny is in it as well.  It's not that I don't like the pairing or that I think that Rowling has another pairing for these two in mind I guess it's just that the paring doesn't excite me the way Harry/Ginny do.  That being said I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this fic.  I like the characterizations, especially how both of them seem to be really apprehensive about what is going on.  (I mean think about it at least Harry has actually been on a date, even if it was an unmitigated disaster.)  I do like the characterizations  you have for Ron and Hermione, you don't make Ron a total idiot like many do and you do portray Hermione as vulnerable which Rowling has hinted at during interview.  (In fact I predict she is going probably have a rough 6th or 7th years in canon when some of her preconcieved notions about the world get shattered.)  All in all I give this fic a thumbs up and look forward to more of your writing (anything of course although I admit I'm very partial to your Harry/Ginny fics.)

I'm amazed at how many of us H/Grs aren't big R/Hr story fans.  (I do like them in canon)  I am further amazed and humbled that so many of you gave me a chance on this story.

Like I said earlier, I don't know how this is going to go over on the Quill - it's not "classic" R/Hr which patterns itself after the Yule Brawl - I think it is more OotP R/Hr which is a lot more complicated and fraught with fear:  Hermione would reach out, Ron would rebuff - then Ron would try and Hermione would rebuff. I tried to capture a little of that fear in this story.

I agree with you that Hermione will have a tough time - and it will be Ron who pulls her out of it.

Don't worry - I would never forsake H/G for any other ship.  But it is good practice to work with different dynamics and characters.

YAY! The Yarn shop... I obsessed over this missing scene when I read Red is the Heart

That was such a sweet outtake. Your characterisations were spot on (I'm really fussy about Ron characterisations) and the build up to the scene in the yarn shop was superb.

Thank you for writing this! It just made my day

It isn't often that I find an R/H story that I particularly like, but you've done it here. I liked how Hermione gave Ron the hat, tying in with how she had been making all those elf hats before, and how he didn't quite know what it was at first. Dean and Seamus crack me up. How to Please Her--definitely not one for the first date! We'll leave that one up to the imagination. Poor Ron, it really embarrassed him. Just give him some time, and we won't be able to keep him away from that book. LOL!

What I found especially convincing was how you made them sort of awkward through the whole thing, up until the ending. It can be hard to make that transition from friends to not-friends (I like that expression!), and they seemed to be sort of feeling their way around each other for a while. Having known each other for nearly six years, it's got to be kind of strange. I'm really glad you didn't have them get angry with each other and lead into snogging, for a few reasons: one, it's been done too many times before; two, their canon arguments do not always strike me as being truly romantic in context. They arise from insecurity and jealousy, which rarely lead to fulfilling relationships. (H/G arguing can be even more fiery than R/H, but the tension to me seems completely different.)

Anyway, nicely done, and I'm looking forward to your next fics!
Friday 22nd October 2004 04:21Yarn Shop (Author Response)

I decided to write some R/Hr fluff because I was asked.  This missing moment seemed the easiest, since I had already come up with a scenario for Hermione to talk about in Red Is The Heart.

I'm glad the awkwardness seemed organic to the story, rather than OOC.  R/Hr were on their best behavior here - they were both trying so hard.  I realize now that the homework planner scene was really the signing of a sort of "peace treaty."  That's great - we're not going to fight anymore - now what?

The other thing I realized is that R/Hr's biggest obstacle is overcoming the hurt they have inflicted on each other over the years.  Like you said, their arguments aren't so much about romance, but about their own fears and insecurities.

This was fun to write - but I an still loyal to my H/G!
