They both nodded soberly, but Ginny couldn't see how their knowing could possibly affect anything.

Why do I get an ominous feeling at that? *grins* I get to find out though

Haha, that reminds me of my brother, he can sleep anywhere too. It's rather amusing to say the least ^_^

I am a terrible sleeper, so I envy people who can sleep anywhere.

The spider thing--interesting. Also, I'm really liking the way you're writing Ginny. It seems to me kind of hard to get into her head sometimes because for the majority of the books she was such a minor character, but you're putting her together quite nicely.

Anyway, that's all I've got to say for this chapter.

This is pre-HBP Ginny - but I really had a great time trying to figure her out.

Harry and carving; Ginny and spiders ; and how sweet (oops wrong story ) of Harry to give her the bed. But why doesn't Aunt Martha put them in an adequate bedroom in the manor house? (because then Harry couldn't be gallant and they wouldn't get to sleep in the same room ). So is Aunt Martha a Hathaway who married a Weasley? or a Weasley who married a Hathaway (must be the former otherwise Ginny isn't the first female Weasley in generations ).

Shorter chapter, but still good. I hope they get together soon! Good work again - I love the detail you put into your writing.

This is a well thought out story.  The details draw me into the story.  I feel as if I am in a pensive.

Awwww. Excessively cute! I like how Aunt Martha's anxiety clock broke the tension at just the right moment. I like the history you're throwing in and the landscape images you're painting; the barges, the stone circles and all. Very plausible about Ginny fearing spiders, but not admiting to it.  :)

I am really enjoying the subtle interplay between Harry and Ginny here. I'm getting the feeling that they are both trying not to do too much reading between the lines. The conversations you give them, with just the right touch of prickliness, have your usual ring of reality about them.

Baffy, off to the next chapter...

The usual good post...and there's that flung arm again (probably smote a hundred spiders where it landed.  Icky, dark, close, spidery places...).  This "bed test" puzzled me, though not in a bad way.  Not sure who was tested this time, or what the "test" was.  I'm curious to see what else is in store.

Rather...interesting of Aunt Martha to give Ginny such a tiny space to sleep in.

I'm still loving the mystery of this place: the well, the startled cow, and that silly jarvey.

Hurrah!  Looking forward to this weekend's update.  :)

The "bed test" wasn't meant to be an overt element in the story.  I brought it up in a review response to explain where I got the idea.  I do think you will notice in the next chapter, in the third "bed scene," that while the beds are farther apart - H/G are closer.

The idea of "testing" I am writing right now in chapter six - so it is great you brought up that idea for me to think about.

I swear you are still channeling  my husband. Men! You can't sleep with them and you can't sleep without them. Poor Ginny.

There were  so many funny spots. I loved the chicken carving and the jarvey. Although, I do believe there is an animagus cat somewhere. Maybe Professor McGonagall is secretly keeping an eye on them for the order.

I just love your Harry. I loved Wallpaper Harry and this one is just like him. You write him really well. By the way is this the same Aunt that was mentioned in the last chapter of Red Is The Heart? The one who said the Ginny had nice ankles that should help her attract a boy?

Good job. Love the story and can't wait for the next update to find out a piece of the puzzle.

Oh I hope JKR will let Harry have his sense of humor back for HBP. And writing from Ginny's PoV really helped me see him in a different way - he's a rather formidable person in his own way.

I know that you were worried that Ginny's concern over her girliness wouldn't ring true.  So, as someone who was the only girl in her family, and who grew up with four older brothers, let me just assure you that Ginny's feelings are spot-on.  I had a serious flashback to my childhood while I was reading that whole passage!

I liked it when Aunt Martha realized that, although Harry and Ginny shouldn't be too hard on the adults for making the mistake of withholding information, they still had a right to their anger.  I was becoming a bit indignant with her before she acknowledged that!    You've created a great OC in her.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter, and thanks to you and Sherry for the quick updates!

I'm glad the girly stuff was accurate!  I am quite fond of Aunt Martha.  She is a contemporary of Dumbeldore's yet she doesn't have his zen-like detatchment - no Weasley could possibly have a zen-like detatchment!

I really like this story.  Ginny is so fiesty.  It's awesome to see her fight with Harry.  I like this portrayal of them expressing their tempers that canon says they have.  It's not something I see often in fanfiction and you're doing it brilliantly.

I find anger a fine line to write - too much and the character is irritating - too little and they are inauthentic.  I took my cue from the "Lucky You" scene - and when F&G are telling Harry about Percy leaving the family.  Ginny does get angry - but she doesn't go on rants from what I can tell.  Not that she needs to- since Harry seems to pick up on her emotions fairly well throughout the series.  (reason #999 for H/G to be together)

Another wonderful chapter!  It always makes my evening when I see your name on the Updates List.  Then I know it's time to settle back with a cup of tea to lose myself in your newest chapter and the latest segment in Harry's and Ginny's adventure.

The anxiety clock just cracks me up...it worries in all the right places with all the right sentiments.  It's the perfect touch of humor.  I also love the jarvey; I can hardly wait to find out what Ginny teaches it to say about Draco.  I was really touched by Harry's concern for Ginny's fear of spiders; he's really making an effort to understand her and get to know her better and I can easily picture him sacked out on the floor of the box room sound asleep.  My husband has a lot in common with Harry; he, too, can sleep anywhere.

I'm looking forward to your next chapter.

Great story- nice ramp-up, your setting this up as a nice romance, let that guide you. I find it very interesting in the hundreds of fics I have read Harry is usually portrayed this way- quite, sweet, very brave, very loyal, and a bit of a hopeless romantic- the dark brooding hero type.

keep at it, great fic-  H/G forever!!!!

Aww...that was so sweet!  I love Thoughtful!Harry.  Both of them showing their trust in the other was such a lovely thought as well.

I wonder what Ginny being able to find that well means?

Wednesday 17th November 2004 08:26Magic Within, Magic Without (Author Response)

I really think the trust thing is important - esp. for Ginny who was betrayed her first year.

Aww. I'm really enjoying watching this mystery unravel.  What is Ginny's significance? Who does this refer to?:"That cat is an Animagus!" and, dare I say it, when will  and  get together? It may not happen in this story, but I'll still enjoy it!

They will get together in this story. I would feel seriously fluff-deprived if I couldn't write that scene - and I'm sure the readers would feel that way too!

ahh, pure H/G fluff...

It's great. I love the whole bit about the tofu pheasant.

She'd just mold it into a tofu pheasant or something," he said with a smile.

"Then you could dismember it and tofu could take over the earth," she said wryly.

Brilliant!  Lovely!  Another well-crafted chapter that positively drips with details, erupts with eager emotion, and caresses the reader's senses with descriptions that suck their face off.

How was that?  Was it too much?  I could punch it up a little, but then I'd be addingd adjectives on top of adjectives.  Tends to stretch the limits of credulity.

Seriously, I think you've got the gift of writing craft down and I long to sup from the table of your virtue again.

Supper? You want supper? Didn't you people eat six hours ago? Oh - er. sorry - that's not how I am in RL or anything! LoL.

I'm glad you liked this chapter - which is more than I can say for my family and the "chicken again?" meal I prepared last night.  The more I think about it, the more satisfying writing really is . . .

Loverly, loverly.  I just love it when Harry and Ginny begin to discover each other.  Now if Jo will just promise to do the same thing for them . . . And you're right, I am beginning to like Aunt Martha more.  Kelley

That discovery part is so much fun to think about.  I realized writing this from Ginny's point of view, how much she does and doesn't know about Harry.  It's also fun to actually have her story (even though I'm making it up) - so much easier to ship her with Harry ( and not Draco, Dean, Neville, or any other candidates).

Maybe if his back hurts from sleeping on the floor she'll massage it for him.  Also, funny that they have already 'bunked' together, why not again?

I am so caught up in the environment that you artfully painted.  I love the setting and the characters.  Auntie is a hoot!  Harry is *sigh* just right.  I love that he was angry on Ginny's behalf at the information that they kept from her.  Perhaps some teamwork sparking in their eyes?

This is so far beyond fluff, and yet, at the same time it satisfies the fluffilicious nature of this average H/G-reader.  Joy!
