The idea of this makes me grin. Molly’s reaction to never seeing Ginny’s babies unless she marries Harry made me grin far more. One question: what would have happened if the baby Weasley was a boy? Would the contract just have been void? |

Mmmm...still loving this! Darn you and your irresistably great story. So...addicting...
Anywho: had to review...again. I don't think I've ever mentioned how great Ron is in this story. Perfect balance of the flaws we've come to appreciate and a bit of sensibility that makes him seem older and more mature. Excellent! |
ImmortalPhoenix Tuesday 28th February 2006 13:49 | The Bargain |
Ron knocked back the rest of his punch with a loud swallow and set the mug down on the table next to Harry's. "Personally, I think if it's not got anything to do with Lord Nutters, then you'd better thank your lucky stars." Ron rose and stretched, then jabbed a thumb in Ginny's direction. "Oh, and Harry? Stop staring at my sister's bum."
Harry's face heated. "What are you on about?" he hollered. "I'm not staring at her. I'm not even thinking about her."
That was my favorite part in this chapter. oOh I almost forgot GREAT CHAPTER... AGAIN! Lol Onto the next chapter!

Deserved? Yes, definitely, but Harry's a bit overwhelemed, don't you
think? Arthur get's his punishment from a higher power -- his

wokka42 Saturday 18th December 2004 03:47 | The Bargain |
This is undoubtedly one of the funniest fan fiction pieces I've ever read. The premise of the story is imaginative and sets the stage for some zany antics, the characters are spot-on, and the dialogue is howlingly funny ("What do you know about the Wizarding Decree of 1016?", a question posed over and over again, each time by a different character? Comedic genius). You have a fabulous sense for comic timing, especially in the first two chapters as each character comes to terms with Harry and Ginny's plight. I especially love the image of Molly Weasley blasting Ginny's door off its hinges and storming down the stairs to find Arthur. And yet you've managed to keep Ginny and Harry quite sweet about everything, too, which is lovely. A light, fluffy H/G romantic comedy - I love it! It's such a refreshing change of pace after all the drama and angst that seem to permeate most H/G stories. Rock on, dude! I'm looking forward to reading (and laughing through) the rest of this story... |

Good chapter ... makes sense that Arthur didn't even remember, otherwise he would have told Ginny.

Ron's advice is nice and I enjoyed having an atypical Ron -- you
portray him as smart and willing to think seriously about issues,
rather than as the short-tempered pillock he's often portrayed as.

Hi!
Let me start by saying that this is my first time ever, so I hope this is useful to you.
I really like this story, because it seems to take a bit of a different
view on Harry and Ginny's relationship than the majority of the stories
out there. It's nice that there no bad guy to blame for all the
problems for once.
I think, though, that everybody seems to be taking in the news all too
well. Of Harry I would perhaps have expected a "trashing
Dumbledore's office"-like reaction, and also Molly and Ginny's brothers
don't seem to be too upset with the entire situation. I could
magine them secretly wishing for Harry and Ginny to fall in love, but I
would expect that them having to get married and have sex within 14
days would cause a little more stirred emotions in the familie.
So I guess I'm hoping one of the brothers whom we haven't seen yet,
will cause a bit of a riot (maybe you would like to show us some new
side of F&G's charaters?)
I'm looking forward to the next chapter! (actually, I just had a sneak preview at yout livejournal site , looks good!)
I hope this is helpful to you,
Regards,
bas.

Well, it is a seventh year story, so I figure he's matured at least a
little bit. More importantly, Ron's that sensitive for his
sister, just not for his crush (Hermione).

obsidiana Friday 3rd December 2004 10:09 | The Bargain |
Loved ....I mean absolutely loved the flaming trousers! Perfect Ginny reaction and you gotta love the mom in Molly, "Don't darken our bedroom door for at least a week!"
I also liked that Molly when she saw Harry treated him as the partner/victim in this scenerio....after all he was a mere babe when the pack was made.
Oddly I think the only reason James Potter said that about marrying his son to Arthur's daughter was because he had never seen a female red-head with the other man...he figured it was a safe bit of humor given the situation...as did Arthur probably never having guessed that the last Weasley born would be a girl after so many boys.
LOVE THIS STORY!

Friday 3rd December 2004 10:47 | The Bargain (Author Response) |
I'm glad you picked up on Molly's duality. I especially loved the
fact that you saw the true, unabashed innocence about this whole
situation. Neither James or Arthur did this with any idea that it
would end up like it will. Even if James and Lily had survived to
see this day, I would hope that he would be as shocked and appalled as
everyone else. But then, Lily would swoop up Ginny and they would
immediately go shopping. Ooh. There's a plot bunny and a
half.

Poor Harry. He's put his foot into it, hasn't he? I thought you had him perform better in telling Ginny than I expected. The scene between Ginny and Molly was especially nice, and you allowed Arthur to avoid being hexed into next week. Of course, he's not yet spoken with Ginny.
Who would have thought Ron could give such good advice about relationships? Perhaps his emotional depths have reached shot glass level. I'm looking forward to seeing Harry and Ginny work out their feelings for each other, and about their situation. The hard part for them is that they have to do both at the same time. |
Friday 3rd December 2004 10:54 | The Bargain (Author Response) |
Harry's got a lot to learn, yes. The Ginny/Arthur talk happens in
chapter four. Ron *is* more sensitive, as he's had to become so
to get to the point of asking Hermione out. Hermione wouldn't
have it any other way.

When Harry pointed to the charred hole in his trousers

"Yes, that can happen."
Hilarious. Wonderful. Oh, what a great chapter.
The workings of a Weasley mind, especially a certain female
Weasley's, and the Potter's minds problems in grasping it.
Absolutely loved it.
Fantastic work, as always.

DailyProphetReporting Friday 3rd December 2004 03:41 | The Bargain |
I'm not going to go into too much detail as it's late, I'm tired and I've already reviewed this once today. However, I did rather enjoy the reactions to the, er ..., blissful news. Ginny pouring her soul out to Harry and then hexing him struck me as both appropriate and in-character, especially because you portrayed him as rather less than sensitive about the hole situation.
But the best part of this had to be:
"Or," Ginny said tentatively, "or Harry and I both lose the ability to make babies."
Ginny had never seen her mother's face go from white to red so fast, nor had she ever seen Molly move quite as quickly as she did just then. The door to Ginny's bedroom was blasted open, leaving it dangling precariously on one twisted hinge. Molly was at the bottom of the stairs before Ginny could even get off the floor.
I found that scene so hilarious. As your Ron so aptly points out, it's just a matter of pushing the right buttons with the Weasley women. Actually, I thought you let Arthur off rather easily considering. ... But then Ginny hasn't got a hold of him yet.
Anyway, this chapter was as fun and different as those that proceeded it. You deserve a lot credit for the creativity and zeal of your writing, even if I still think you're nuts for the volumne and pace with which you crank it out. -KC |

Yes, I am nuts. I'll admit that freely, but I do the best I can with my fractured sanity.

Oi! I love H/G fics and the theme of Harry being forced to marry Ginny (or be romantically involved) seems a bit popular, but you do it really well. I liked the Prologue bit, looking back at VWI...Overall the characterization is good, I think the only difference is that JKR seems to have them all almost act like eunuchs or something (which it is a book that children read, so she can't put that much in really) so it always seems off when someone is talking about another person's bum and stuff.
I can't wait for an update...and how long were you planning on making this? Just a few chapters, or an all-out-novel-length story? Either way, more will be appreciated! |
