Wow. This Ginny is a little differant than the others I have read. This is refreshing. Very good chapter.

Funny bit with Hermione and the cabbie. Minor point: since he refers to shilling, shouldn't she respond not with knut but sickle (knut, sickle, galleon::pence, shilling, pound -- knut would match pence not shilling).
Dumbledore seems a bit insensitive; though I suppose he's trying to get Harry to see the seriousness of the matter. And, of course, Ginny is just the right person for Harry (though Hermione sure had fun teasing her ).

Recalcitrance?
Is someone using Roget's? I haven't seen that word since 19th Century English Lit class. Yowza.

Hermione's voice and characterization is spot on. Good work. Gin's seems a bit off, though, maybe ... wait. I'm reading more... no she's right. Good.

The questions Herm asks Ginny:
"Would you be able to wake up every morning, your first thought being Harry?" asked Hermione. "Would your sun rise and set by him? Could you spend every moment of every day with him or thinking about him?"

That sounds an awful lot (almost word for word) like the WeasleyBrother-like inquisition I gave my brother-in-law when he married my sister. Were you a animagus fly on the wall, taking notes?

Ginny's a 15 year old girl, and you've managed to put a 15 year-old's mindset into this fic. Sure, she might be a bit matured from COS, but I thought her reactions to Hermione's grilling of her was spot on.

This just keeps getting better and better.

I solemnly swear I am not an unregistered animagus!  Nancy recognized me as a Babylon 5 fan (guilty as charged).  Primarily what I wanted to do with this was for Hermione to shake up Ginny a bit and get her to think about what she was doing.  It also allowed me to bring Ginny's character into focus and provide a starting point from which to develop her.  As much as everyone at PhoenixSong loves Ginny, JKR really hasn't done that much to develop her character.  If I want to write from her perspective, I've got to do something to bring her along and make her interesting and appealing.  Also, I'm planning a very crucial role for Ginny in this novel, so I've got to develop her at least to the same level Ron and Hermione have been developed, possibly further.

I love how you made Hermione tell Ginny all that Harry's feeling! You did such a good job. Most author's just skip over the fact that Harry has been abused maybe not physically but mentally and emotionally. I think you did a really good job portraying that in this chapter! And the worry that Hermione is showing in regard to Harry, it's quite sweet! *is proud of hermione* Excellent I can't wait for more!

Ugh, I can't stand the +blocked+ Dumbledore is turning into, or rather Harry's just noticing. Poor Harry. I can't believe he said that to Harry. I mean way to rub it in the poor soul's face. Tisk Tisk Tisk Dumblydore.

At least Harry can make it without Dumbledore. He can handle himself. See he's teaching himself Occulmency, or at least I think he is. He's also studying for himself. Time to take things on Harry! Good show!

This is so brilliant. You are a brilliant author. I really can't wait for more! I love it!!!!
