Ah... \'tis lovely!
I\'m going to go all crazy, deep and metaphoric now, but somehow you\'ve captured the essence of the (first) snow. Not just in it\'s description and how it affects people, but in every part of the story, right up to the kiss. Wonderful! |

Great romance story. The imagery, as always with your writing, was great. I really enjoyed reading this. |
Felix Felicis Monday 11th September 2006 18:59 | Just to Make You Smile |
Yes, if anyone could show Harry how to enjoy snow it would be Ginny. I liked the progression you made from beginning to end. I can really see Harry as "I don't care at all about snow" and then as he enjoys it with Ginny he starts to understand. Her little bit of wisdom was great! It sounds just like something Mrs. Weasley would say - make sure that you have at least one thing to make each day a little bit special. The moment they admit each other as "that special moment" is heart-warming.
The description of Harry's internal monologue is well-written. He sounds just like his character in the books. The fluttering he feels around Ginny is very sweet. I especially liked the scene in the forest where he learns to look at snow as a clean, fresh start. I have a feeling that Ginny could make him see anything that way!
I enjoyed how you made Ginny clever and funny at the same time. At first I was a little concerned that she wasn't going to have time for Harry with her busy schedule, but you know those Weasley's... anything to go out in the snow.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story! Your writing style is so easy to read, believable, enjoyable, and just makes me want to read more of your work! |

GryffindorDragon Tuesday 25th July 2006 16:08 | Just to Make You Smile |
Very nice piece. A bit sentimental, but very well done.
Just to make her smile -- very touching. I also liked the part where Harry finds the initials, but I think it would have been better if he'd have shared that with Ginny

Wonderful! You definitly should think of writing the story of how James
and Lilys initials got onto that tree. It would be the best. I love
this story and its companion.

OK, I think I need to stop reading for the day, because where you wrote 'So how exactly are you going to make me love the snow?, I could have swore it said "So how exactly are you goint to make love in the snow. Gah. Plot bunny, anyone?
I liked this one better than "Just a Little Smudged", mainly because
its H/G, but I always like to see Ginny bring out the wonder in Harry.
This was wonderful.

Ahh, wonderful holiday fluff. Loved it even more the second time around. Sigh. I loved the scene in the woods and the gradual melting of Harry's frozen heart. Loved it. |
XiaoXiao Wednesday 5th January 2005 02:09 | Just to Make You Smile |
Beautiful. I like this even better than the companion piece, because Harry's angst and depressing thoughts make the fluff and happiness that much sweeter. The kiss was delightful, but the cheering up beforehand was even more so. |
Ph03n1x Wednesday 5th January 2005 00:54 | Just to Make You Smile |
YAY FOR HOLIDAY FLUFF! I really like this story (and it's companion). In the end when you describe the snowman with glasses like Harry's and a Gryffindor scarf it made me think of a Fanart I've seen, though I can't remember the artist's name. I don't know if that was a coincidence or not but it helped form a picture in my head.
And thanks for recommending some Hot-Coccoa, it was good! |
kundiman Tuesday 4th January 2005 23:20 | Just to Make You Smile |
I loved it when Harry saw the initials with the heart on the tree.
Great job! |
Wild Magelet Tuesday 4th January 2005 21:01 | Just to Make You Smile |
Such a lovely story! I really loved reading it. Great writing style; one or two typos but that happens to all of us. I just love your Ginny and my favourite line was "What more could you want?". That is exactly what I found myself mentally hissing at Harry whenever Ginny made an appearance in OotP, lol. Excellent job with this fic! |
TigerLily8186 Tuesday 4th January 2005 19:17 | Just to Make You Smile |
ooooh this was cute. I loved the whole idea of winter and Weasleys. This line particularly struck me as insightful. "Harry felt the butterflies thrash around in his stomach. When Hermione was in a philosophical mood she tended to talk about moments. She said that sometimes, there is a space of time where it is so obvious that a choice has to be made, that something must be said, or not said, that your whole body can feel it."
I found the initials an interesting note. Though I almost think that Harry might not have dismissed it that easily..or, maybe he would. I am not sure. I almost think he might have thought about it a moment longer. But it was quite cute as it prequaled the kiss. Well done. ~Megs |

I've just finished reading your story and I wanted to say thank
you; for making me smile. |
Aberforth's Avatar Tuesday 4th January 2005 17:38 | Just to Make You Smile |
I like this piece very much. I agree with the Weasley clan in their attitude to snow, so the sense of wonder and clean new beginnings that a snow-covered landscape can evoke came through pretty strongly for me from Ginny's appreciation.
Your scene between the two of them in the woods was very nicely done. I think that it would stand up well without Harry finding Lily and James' initials, though. I thought that one element just a bit out of place with the rest of the scene.
Thanks for sharing. This was a nice reminder of just how magical winter can be. |
Robert Owen Tuesday 4th January 2005 17:34 | Just to Make You Smile |
Awww! Cute, fluffy, and fun, just the way a winter's scene should be.

Thank you. This made a nice parallel piece to smudged. And I need a bit of fluff today. |

Ooohh I love fluffy stuff, and I don't mean snow. All in all a wonderfully written little story. |

I heartily endorse Harry's sentiments about snow.
Nasty stuff that.
Lovely story - thanks for sharing it.

Good bit o fluff. I liked it. Keep

(like what did he use the cloak for?).

Ahhh, yesss!!
Wonderful, wonderful. Lucky Harry to have Ginny to teach him how
to love snow when his dratted family have been unable to do so.
Thank goodness for the Weasleys!
