Voldemort is a huge bloody git. I'm telling 'ya. HUGE! Taking horrible memories and calling them happy. He is sick. And, I was half right about Hagrid, but he didn't save Harry, only Ginny. And the wierd thing is, is that they both think that the other one is dead. And, I heard of that shocking handcuffs thing. It was in another story I read. But, this chapter is very good, and it is time to skip down the yellow brick road to the next chapter.

What a brilliant chapter! You wrote everyone's responses to the attack sooo well! I can't believe no one is going after Harry! I hope they'll come to their senses soon!
I loved how Harry was able to see how James fought! I'm glad that you made James a formidable opponent, and not just some push over! I hate when people do that! Yay Harry you can make it! |

I really hate it when people have James die so quickly in their renditions of this fight. Voldemort acknowledges in both books one and four that James gave him a courageous fight before he died, so it isn't true to canon to portray it otherwise.
Obviously it wasn't fun for Harry to see what happened to James, but in a twisted sort of way it's good that he does, because he gets to see him at his best, as opposed to that moment in the Pensieve from book five. Voldemort is trying to get Harry to give up by showing him that even the most formidable wizards cannot hope to defeat him in battle, but Harry takes a different sort of inspiration from the experience, which Voldemort can't really comprehend.

| o i forgot.....that scene with Voldy and James made me want to cry!!! Poor Harry. that's like the worst possible thing for him to see. i have a feeling Voldy's gonna make him watch him mama's death, too.....keep up the brilliant work! |

Interestingly enough, I'd originally planned to have Harry see his mother die too, but I never wrote that part, for a couple reasons. For one thing, it's already horrific enough as it is. For another, the scene with Lily is more controversial in the fandom, more subject to bizarre interpretations, and I didn't want people telling me they thought it was "wrong" for this and that reason they made up.
The main thing was that it just didn't add anything to the story to have both parents in the scene. Harry knows more about his father than about his mother, but his memory of Lily's death is clearer than it is for James, and I felt he needed to see James at his best, rather than at his worst as in the Pensieve (harking back to H/G's conversation about James in the first chapter). |

| o. my. gosh! brilliant chapter but, O the cruelness! i just want to apparate to wherever Harry is and kick Voldy in the balls. and Ginny's grief is written very well. i hope she does go along with the title. and if she can't save his life, at least let them die together! and at least let them kiss first....it's interesting how you made the "dementors kissed him/her before i got to" such a big deal. i love it! i found this fic by just randomly going thru the stories on PS.net, and im so glad ive found it. it's now officially on my daily check list. |

Noooooooo! That bloody - I'm not going to say what cuz the blocker will just scratch it out anyway!
Great chapter, very tense. How is poor Harry going to make it out of this one. And Ginny will be around to offer some comfort when he does, right?
Cho's certainly not my favorite, but I wouldn't wish a Dementor's kiss on anyone. Shudder. |

Poor Cho . . . I felt so bad doing that to her, but given the importance of the Dementors I felt it just had to be.
I don't want to give it away, but I think I can promise that you won't be disappointed by what Ginny does. The title might offer you some hint of what's to come . . . |

How could you end a chapter like that!! I wanted to scream! That's so awful, poor Harry. I hope he gets away somehow. I couldn't help but feel some satisfaction at the death of Cho, horrible of me, but it was satisfying. I don't know why, but I don't like her much. I did check out St. Margarets retake of your story and it's coming along nicely. Hopefully your story turns out as happy as hers is! Here's to hoping! Keep up the good work! |

Yes, many H/G fans don't seem to like Cho too much after book five. Cho has done nothing to deserve such a fate, either in canon or in this story, but since she provides a contrast to Ginny in OotP, I tried to continue to relate them here. There's more in store for the Dementor storyline in later chapters.
Dunno if I can promise to end as happily as you might like, but I will tell you that I'm not a fan of gratuitous angst. I use it for a very definite and important story purpose. |
