Ok. Now that is a Harry I can get behind!
Like the firsties. Be interesting to see what develops there.
Still have a problem with him blanching at the thought of Malfoy when Tom is the big man on campus. |

That was quite a welcoming feast! Harry really put a number on the school. He gave them all the message loud and clear. Thanks for writing. This is really good and I've never heard a better speech by Harry. I look forward to more of this story. p |

I loved the last two paragraphs of Harry speech. It would have been really funny if when Harry said that Sirius Black was his godfather, there was a lot of gasps and things like that from the other students who didn't know that Sirius was his godfather. Great chapter. I loved it. So far, this is my favorite chapter in this story. Can it get better than being serious and still be hilarius (sp?) at the same time? |

WOW. That speech was very well done. Good job!! |

What a scene! I can't believe some students didn't jump out of their seats to attack him, that would have been nutty! Good stuff, I'm gonna keep reading. |

I've just read this story and its precursor all in a go. Wow. You certainly put through the ringer, don't you?
These are great stories. I particularly enjoy your Dumbledore, Snape, and Ginny. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Keep it up!!
Cassie |

Thanks, Cassie! I enjoy my Snape and Ginny, too, though my Dumbledore . . . man, I find him hard to write. I guess it's because he's still such a mystery in the books. Hopefully we'll find out more about him in book six! |
rand_wot Sunday 20th March 2005 01:54 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
Excelent, I always look forward to this one. It's about time that Harry got an award from the government. You'd think that saving the philosophers stone from Voldemort, and saving the school from a giant basilisk would be worthy of one.
To him, the silence sounded better than the applause had.
That was perfect. |

Thanks rand wot. And what an interesting name you have! I guess its a play on wand rot, which is fabulously hilarious. Do wands rot? I guess so . . .

I've come back and reread that final speech quite a number of time now. Great job. |
shayna Friday 18th March 2005 13:53 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
absolutely fabulous!!! want more, want more!!
please hurry with the updates....
see, this is why i dont normally read WIP....its so frustrating to wait.... and patience so is NOT my forte.... |
Friday 25th March 2005 09:56 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Yes, sorry, Shayna, it is a WIP. I know the feeling; I hate reading them too. Inevitably you lose momentum at times. But, then again, if we didn't do it this way, there would be no feedback to let us know what is good and fun for our readers and it wouldn't end up half as good! Don't worry, I'll at least keep it updated regularly!
Thanks for your kind words! |

Ohh, I love this story! I can't wait to find out what happens next. And what's the deal with being 's bodyguard? Definitely interesting. Keep those updates coming! |

saugart Thursday 17th March 2005 15:42 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
That was quite a little speech you had Harry deliver.
The Twitchie girls openly applauded Harry? Hmm. Sadly, it's
probably true that they're trying to get in good with him as secret
agents for the Forces of Evil. It would be nice if it were
otherwise.
I'm surprised that the Junior Death Eaters are so crass as to insult
and threaten Harry on the Hogwarts Express. Surely it would make
more sense not to let him know who his potential enemies are?
I hope that Charlie gives Harry the same list he gave to Dumbledore.
|
Friday 25th March 2005 09:59 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Yes, fun speech, wasn't it? As for the Twitchties, don't jump to too many conclusions. Some assumptions about them are correct, but many are wrong.
The Junior Death Eaters are idiots inflamed with power. Harry will know his enemies, at least most of them, but it really won't help him escape that much.
Charlie will be helping Harry a lot. I will *not* be killing him off, unlike *some* stories I know of *glares at Melindaleo*.
Thanks for the review! |

MrRobertsIII Thursday 17th March 2005 14:55 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
Great fic, wonderful speech. Having Rita there was a nice touch.
I've just read HP and the Bloody Summer and all that you have here. It has put a real dent in my work day. Thank you.
At one point (in Bloody Summer I think) you have Snape suggesting that Harry be declared dead and then locked up somewhere safe. A really good fic with that premise is HP and the Deadly Deception at http://www.hgnetwork.co.uk/siye/viewstory.php?sid=701 |
Friday 25th March 2005 10:03 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reviews! I'm so glad you liked the speech enough to re-read it. It's only fitting since I had to re-write it so much! As for HP and the Deadly Deception, I *love* that story and tried many times to get Delylah to continue writing . . . to no avail. My having Snape mention that plot was a direct tribute to her wonderful fic.
Thanks again! |
Kelleypen Thursday 17th March 2005 11:43 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
wow! That was amazing (despite the silly OC triplets names.) I'm wide-eyed and awed. The whole exchange between Harry and Dumbledore was beautiful. I loved that Rita is there and Fudge isn't. And the exchanged glances with Malfoy were right on. |
Friday 25th March 2005 10:10 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Silly triplet names?? Silly triplet names????? *grumbles to herself* I liked their names, though of course, wizarding names do tend to be a bit off-beat. People don't call the triplets by their full names, anyway, but shorten them to Prima, Nelda and oh . . . whatever else the other ones name is! Oh, Zimmy.
Anyway, I'm pleased you liked my Dumbledore; he's tough to write!
Yeah, I loved leaving Fudge out. Would be fun to write that scene where Fudge wants to be there to give out the award and DD says no.
Malfoy is wicked, isn't he? Expect to see more of him, lazy clot. |
dophingirl79 Thursday 17th March 2005 11:01 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
ahh good chapter, I guess Harry has a little bit of anger in him still. Good story, and good speech keep up the good work. |
Friday 25th March 2005 10:13 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Thanks dolphingirl! Yes, Harry is still angry. He's just been pushed into controlling himself better; so much pain in so little time. Good thing he's tough! |
AngieGS Thursday 17th March 2005 10:38 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
Wow, what a speach! He deserves an oscar for it. I hope you had a great time writing that because I had a great time reading it.
Cheers, Angie |

An Oscar, for little ole' Harry? Well, it was fun to write and I think Harry had a great time getting so much off his back. Wait 'til the papers get a hold of it. heh heh |

Awesome! Loved Harry's talk... especially the end. |
Friday 25th March 2005 10:15 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Thanks! I'm so glad the speech came off well. Poor guy needed to get that off his chest, and it set the tone for the rest of the fic and the school. |
Arnel Thursday 17th March 2005 08:59 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
I absolutely loved Harry's speech at the end of this chapter. I'm glad that he's facing his destiny with squared shoulders, giving credit where credit is due and challenging the rest of the school to do what is right, even if it's not easy. I also thought that Ron's orders to haul Harry out of his seat were rather funny, considering that Ron, at the moment just happened to be Harry's "ex-best friend"!
Finally, I'm intrigued by what role the Twitchtie sisters and Violet Hooch will be playing in the rest of the story. Basically, please keep the chapters coming...I want more now! |
Friday 25th March 2005 10:19 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response) |
Oh yes! The Twitchtie sisters and Violet. Much mystery there. Interesting plot bunnies are running all amuck in this story, so it will be fun to see them peek their heads up now and then, give clues and collide at some points.
Thanks for the encouragement! It helps me write so much! |
Melindaleo Thursday 17th March 2005 06:05 | Harry Potter and the Year of the One |
Woo Hoo! Go get 'em, Harry! I loved it! I got a chance to read while waiting for my son's school bus this morning, and what a treat it was!
I loved the line "his ex-best friend" - too funny, and definitely something Ron would do. Harry's speech was wonderful, he really has been put through a lot. What is the story with those Twitchie triplets?
I can hardly wait for more! |

Talk about setting a snake loose in the nest. Things are definately looking interesting.

Harry, a "snake loose in the nest?" Very apt illustration. They have all kinds of plans this year in the nest and he's just going to slither around and scare them out of their wits! Look for much squawking and cackling ahead! |
