I guess I'll step back from my lectern as I did not read you reply dated Wednesday 30th March 2005 22:57 until after I posted mine.

Just for future reference Please do not take my reviews as flames because that is not the spirit in which they are given. Just playing the devils advocate.

If I did not like your stories I would not continue to read and would not take the time to review.

Harry Potter and the Year of the One
If I continue this story only to be told that Malfoy sexually abused Harry what a waste of time it will be and is something that you should have placed a warning about child abuse in the summary.

While I like to read stories I do not read stories with that content and it and would be very disappointing that you would throw that in with out giving the reader a warning so that they can make the decision to read or not. Authors need to consider the reader more. What if a reader had things like that happen to them? How would subversion by authors affect them?

I hope that I am wrong about your story!

Wow! Harry just found out the price of fanatic fans. The Twitchie girl was strange but to have Susan Bones, a girl he thought was a friend come on to him like that was really unnerving. It sounds like she is under the Imperious Curse or something. I think Harry chose the right reaction in this case. Someone needs to check on Susan to see if she is under someone's control. Thanks for writing. I look forward to more of this story. p

Before that morbidly attractive ending, this was probably the funniest chapter I've read of late.  Hehe:

“Heh. I’ll watch anything he lets me!”

Harry spun around on that one, because it sounded like a bloke"

Teehee.

Hmmm. Morbidly attractive. Yep, I'll take it. Great compliment. Thanks for the review!

Brilliant!  I can't think of another word.  The last chapter was sooo funny.  I like to print the stories off to read in class (most of them are so boring) and in the middle of Poli Sci, I started laughing, (Too bad for me, they were reading about a war and was not funny).  But then of course your chapter got all sad at the end.  -sigh- Can't wait for the update!

As for the rating, I'm going to try to keep it the same. Reliving it is only one way of dealing with it, and I don't think I'm going there. We'll see.

Ok so I'm not crazy. I actually went back and re-read 'Bloody Summer' to see if I'd missed anything, and it seems that the thing I thought *hadn't* happened, actually *did* happen. So Harry seems to have suppressed it. How horrible for Harry! If this is true (and I'm not just another one with too many Law and Order's under my belt) and you explore it in this story successfully, then all I could say is, wow! Then, Ash, you'll have cemented yourself in my mind as one of the most original and unique HP fan fiction authors I've ever read.

I really hope that Harry's recovery of those memories will be shown, and that Harry will be able to come to terms with it. Right now the emotions behind those repressed memories seem to be flaring up at the worst times. If Harry isn't careful, Voldemort will be able to counter-attack Harry's procclumency by triggering these feelings in Harry. It's an interesting idea, Harry attacking Voldemort with Love and Happiness, and Voldemort attacking Harry with Fear, Revulsion, and Rage. Which would win?

Another question I'll have is whether Harry comes to terms with it and 'gets healed' by Ginny's love, or if Madam Pomfrey helps him through it. One is more romantic, while the other might be more realistic.

All in all, an excellent read. With or without this theme, I really love your work. I just reread 'Bloody Summer' (again) and enjoyed it more than the last time, and this story has me thirsting for more.

So then Lucius had raped him?
Wednesday 30th March 2005 23:57Harry Potter and the Year of the One (Author Response)
So then Lucius had raped him?

Um . . . no. You'll have to just hang with me for a while. We will hear exactly what happened, but not for a few chapters yet. Remember, Harry was checked over by Madame Pomfrey after his stay at Malfoy Manor. When Remus questioned him, he was probing for info, but there was something that made him suspicious. If Harry had been raped, it would have been more than suspicions. So . . . it was definitely not that.

Thanks for all the kind words and for re-reading the story. It's been fun to watch everyone finally figuring out what really happened between the lines. There are a few other things nobody caught as well . . .

I will definitely keep writing, and I hope that you enjoy it! Look for more plot bunnies to show their cute little heads in the next chapter. Hope you can spot them!

This was a great chapter!  I laughed my butt off!  So what's with the whole "No one touches me" thing?  Surely not!  I mean, what about Ginny?  Am I right?  Well anyway, I love this fic, so update soon please!

Well, there's a very good reason for his response. See the other reviews if you want hints. Ginny is not to be counted out yet. Harry will struggle with this all fic long.

Oh, good! I laughed when I was writing that part, even though the amount of re-writing was ridiculous since there were so many characters in that small space. But it's fun to see Harry in situations like that, and in RL, he would be!

Yes, I love protective Ron, too!

Well, Ginny is a force to be reckoned with. Don't expect her to give up easily. But then again, don't expect her to go about it the way Susan did! Whew!

::chuckles nervously::

It was a wonderful job, the entire chapter; I just started getting a TEENSY bit nervous when Susan kissed him.. and then I was thinking back to my suspicions at the end of "Bloody Summer," and what Lucius Malfoy (the dirty [censored]) did to him.. And I have a feeling that something AWFUL happened to Harry, and to Draco too.

Are my suspicions correct?! Or have I just been watching WAY too many "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" episodes?

::sighs:: I guess I'll find out in the future..

Again, phenomenal job!

You know I had the same thought, but I thought it was my suspicious nature that had me thinking like that. Even is he didn't do what I thought he had....Lucious Malfoy definately did him bodily harm and that alone is a violation.

Well, I can't wait for more that is for darned tootin!

Oh, very true. But having a suspicious nature is not a bad thing when dealing with Lucius Malfoy.

Okay...I have to say the Harry/Elvis has left the building thing was pretty funny if scary. I can't wait to see where this goes....I really like your story so far.

Harry Potter and the Year of the One

About Harry's strong reaction - does it have anything to do with the following?

They found evidence of many Cruciatus curses thrown on you." Harry stared, a trifle disturbed. "And you were obviously assaulted. But were there . . . any other forms of abuse? Anything you might need to tell us about?" Harry stiffened without meaning to, then shook his head vehemently, fighting a sudden, almost panic-ridden, desire to hide.
AND
The pain had obscured some of his memories from his time at the Manor, but that helpless, horrified feeling was branded into his memory by fire.

Will this fic be getting a stronger rating than PG-13 when Harry relives those memories?

HUH?

Was Harry molested when he was captured?

His reaction was very odd for someone who was never molested but if he was sexually abused then his behavior would be right about normal.

Other than that, another excellent if not a little disturbing chapter.

Cheers, Angie

Well, let's just put it this way; his behavior was right about normal for what he's been through. Sorry it was disturbing! Harry will prevail, though, so don't worry. Thanks for the review.

Well, Sam, I can't answer whether or not you've been watching too many L&O: Special Victims Units, but I do know that being suspcious where Lucius Malfoy is involved is always wise. That  is very hard to control, and once you put him in a story, well, there's no telling what will happen.

BUT, he's made a tactical error that we'll see come to fruition over time. Well, actually, he's made two tactical errors.

Thanks for the review and the kind words.

Poor Susan.

I would hate to be in her position.  She gets the nerve up to make a move on Harry, and then he knocks her down and yells at her.  Ouch.

I hope he at least tells her that it's Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and apologizes, later on.  She seems like a good person.

I don't think Harry will be apologizing any time soon. You might want to look at Susan's actions again.

 Easy peasy.”
-What the?!  Sounded strange.

well, most of the time,” Dumbledore added at Harry’s doubtful look.
-made me laugh

That was on his list. He wanted this, right?
-Hah!  I could just imagine Harry in mid-kiss patting down his pockets to double-check his list.

that fast!
-Good ol' Hufflepuff, the house of experience.

No one would touch him like that again.Ever.
-Must have missed something.  Time to go back and reread.

Good chapter!  Loved the ending, but the end seemed harsh on Susan.  I have a feeling I must have missed or forgotten something for Harry to be that blindingly angry.

Yes, it was rather sudden, wasn't it? But she pushed him too hard. Don't worry, Ginny's a very formidable witch and Harry won't be able to keep her at arm's length.

SQUEE!  This is my favorite chapter, Ash.  I loved everything from the fangirls to the clueless reaction from "rock star" Harry. I LOVE Ron as his bodyguard.  It's such a perfect, duh, why didn't I see it? role for Ron.

Harry's reaction to Susan was heartpoundingly intense.  Obviously, he hasn't fully recovered from the trauma over everything that happened at Malfoy Manor.  He needs Ginny to help him that, wink wink.

I can barely stand the wait for more!
