The Art of Healing
Don't be cconcerned about your suppositions re teenaged boys. You hit the item practically dead center. You were off only in that it is actually much worse than you portrayed it and each & every boy thinks it's him only & that he MUST be a pervert. Things wander through your mind that you've never even thought of before & leave dirty footprints all over the place. What you show is far from what you experience. I imagine Harry would be one who showed little & tried to act in some honourable fashion knowing that inside he was horrible really. I'm enjoying your take on things. Keep it up

Fabulous. I loved the fact that Sirius was able to contact Harry and help him along his path. And the whole sex talk was great. I never got one - had to rely on the school sex-ed course and gossip. So Harry is a very lucky guy that he got the essentials from Remus and some even better info from Sirius.

I have been searching for this story for such a long time. I read it ages ago and for whatever reason neglected to jot down the name, author or even which website I read it on.

Sheer dumb luck led me to it today and it is just as good as I remembered. I love the touches of humor you have, it's that dark, dry humor I have come to associate w/ the HP characters and you totally nailed it.

I love the feeling of hope I get while reading this story. It's not necessarly going to be an easy road but the vibe I get from the characters is they will keep plugging along b/c they have hope. Anyway I am thrilled to find it and have bookmarked it!!! I will never again be w/o a link to this story again!!

That was nice. And poor Moony and Harry. And I think you are right. Dwelling on those things are not Harry. Wish I could read the rest, but got to go bed. *tear*

I want to know what that letter said that Harry wrote to Ginny that Ginny treasured all her life.  And this chapter was marvellous.  I had no problem believing Sirius visited in a dream.  It really does happen.  I know.

Another wonderful chapter!  I like how Remus & Harry are getting closer and also that Harry got to have one last talk w/Sirius.  Now for the really important question:  Will Harry FINALLY get some new clothes?  He really needs them!  :)  Update soon please!

Thank you Lulabelle!  I think the answer to your really important question will be revealed in Chapter 4.

Another great one. Tres fun and tres sweet. I loved it all, expecially the hedgerow - and the tree taking Harry! You've put some great lines into this whole string of wonderful writing.

Looking forward to the next chapter,

Sarah

Hi Sarah.  I'm so happy that the humor is coming through.  If you liked this chapter, I think you'll really like the next one.

Thank you for all of your reviews and for reading the story.  It's really nice to see familiar names and it's very helpful to know what works and what doesn't.

First, let me commend you for a great, no, super title for this chapter. It didn't make sense at first, but it worked out.

I also am glad you approached the whole sexuality thing with a mature angle. I'm glad Harry isn't a perv - and Remus made sure he knew about everything - so I'm glad for that.

As for the teenaged boy thing - It's not so cut and dried as you put it here. We guys don't really think this out in the detail you've put here - it made it obvious that you're a girl - but it was a logical train of thought. Most guys, including myself, would have never been so introvered about their sexuality at 15 - unless you're Sirius Black, playwizard.

Hey Sonic.  I'm so happy the chapter titles are not going unnoticed.  I actually put a lot of thought into them and this one in particular is my personal favorite.

Although I didn't expand on Remus' version of the 'the talk', I tried to leave the impression that Remus gave as much as was possible for him.  I'm really pleased that seems to have come through.  I left it up to Sirius Black, shameless playwizard (btw) to fill in some of the more, uh- interesting details.  A role I'm certain he would have happily filled in life, had he the chance. My theory about Sirius is that he got involved with a much older girl early on and she taught him a lot but he also had a natural charm and confidence to go along with his pretty face.  It's entirely possible also, that he was not nearly as experienced as young Moony imagined, although no less knowledgeable.

As for what boys are really thinking, I'm certain that they are not thinking in the narrative that I've used here however; I suspect if I were to write what I really thought was going on in those busy little minds, I'd have to move this story to The Broom Cupboard.  And perhaps it may even be too much for TBC.

Hey hey.  lol

My favorite part of Chapter 3 is that it directily leads into Chapter 4.  No that's not true, but I'm looking forward to Chapter 4 with a lot of anticipation.

I like Remus' dry humor.  His line about the tree taking Harry is perfect.

I'm curious to see if and how JKR tackles the whole "talk" thing.  Each book has gotten darker and more adult themed.  That's adult, not "adult."  Will she have someone like Remus give Harry the talk?  Will it happen behind the scenes? or is it something that just doesn't really matter in the canon HP universe?  Just something to think about.

Harry needs to grieve and it's good to finally have someone there to help him with it.

Good chapter, keep up the great work.  ;)

Casey!     I'm just going give up all pretense and throw you the tackle hug right off the bat. I know that you've read this story so many times you could probably recite it.  The fact that you keep finding nice things to say about it anyway makes me even more inclined to throw the hugs your way.

I'm not certain about JKR going down the road with "the talk", but it's something that was bugging me.  Who would tell Harry about this stuff?  It almost has to be Remus.  Dumbledore?  No- completely inappropriate. Snape?   Apart from Remus, the only other logical person would be Mr. Weasley.  But if we have our way, Harry will be with Ginny.  Can you imagine getting the facts of life from your girlfriend's father?

Are ya ready for another version of the favored chapter four?

Your information was uncannily accurate, but you did go a little light on it. Should have gone with your "actual theory", times ten. Theres no way to imagine it unless you've actually experienced it... If you went with reality, however, you might scare off readers... This was a good balance.

Good job on a difficult topic. If you can pull THAT off, you can do anything!

Friday 6th May 2005 21:16The Art of Healing (Author Response)

I'm not certain that multiplying my 'actual theory' by ten would be a good idea.  If that were the case, the world would come to a screeching halt as everyone would be too, er- preoccupied to do much else. And this story would be on a whole different website.  lol!

Thank you very much for your inside information, for your confidence in my future and for your review.  I'm glad that if I couldn't hit the nail on the head, I was at least close enough to prompt you to tell me about it.

I really enjoyed this chapter. I completely agree with you that Harry would be more reserved, even in his mind.  I doubt very much the Dursleys would ever have given him any information, except maybe to be ashamed, so him thinking he was a perv was classic.  Sad, but sweetly endearing.

I can see him writing an offhand charmling letter that Ginny would keep forever, too.  I liked his anger and Remus's responses.  I also really liked Sirius's analogy about a flame that burns bright also goes out too quickly.  Very nice.

I enjoyed this chapter; I hope for some more contact with Ginny in the next one.

Friday 6th May 2005 20:45The Art of Healing (Author Response)

I'm certain that if the Dursleys even thought to tell Harry anything at all, it would definitely involve shame and humilation.  I figured with someone so completely uninformed and not prone to talking of such things with someone knowledgable, it had to lead to some worries when his body started going haywire.

I hope I don't lose you by telling you that next chapter, the lovebirds experience a bit of turbulence.  We do get a little bigger glimpse of the correspondence and in chapter five we get a look at the world from Ginny's point of view while she's experiencing a small meltdown- proving she's human too.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reviews Melindaleo.  They mean the world to me.  I'm afraid that I've not been as generous with your great stories.

*smiles*  Once again some wonderful character interaction in this chapter.   I especially liked Harry spontaneously hugging Moony and Padfoot in their respective conversations .

I would have liked to have seen more of Harry's correspondence with Ginny, but I suspect thats mostly because of my personal preference for stories that explore the progression of their relationship.  *wry smile*

I don't think the dream sequence needed any additional explanation,  any questions that came to mind  about it were answered within the course of the sequence itself,  so it works quite well.

Once again, I look forward to the next chapter :-)
Friday 6th May 2005 19:45The Art of Healing (Author Response)

I was a little worried that the hugging would seem out of character for Harry but I really think it's something Harry would do in those circumstances.  I'm glad that's one of the things you enjoyed.

I knew that the minimal Harry/Ginny interaction might be a sticky point here at Phoenix Song.  Keep in mind that this story is primarily about Harry & Remus healing and bonding in a new way for both of them.  Don't worry though, there is a pretty nice pay off in Chapter 6 for all your patience.

Thanks for the very nice reviews you've left after each chapter so far.  It's really nice to see the same names but it's even nicer when the reviews are so thoughtful.
