Ack; erg; eek! I don't really know how to say this, so I'm jsut going to say it. Please stop apologizing for your story. Your story is wonderful! Yes, they are JKR's characters and yes this is alt u; but this is your story and you are doing a marvelous job of telling it! I am coiming late to reviewing because I just discovered this story, but I must say it is a really good one. It reminds me a bit of Imogen's Carpe Diem universe. Things would have been VERY different had Voldemort "chosen" Neville and any writing in that vein should reflect this. I'm also enjoying Colin's inclusion in the story. This should do a nice job of changing things up a bit.

You're quite right; I do tend to apologize a lot. I'll work harder to correct that tendency. Thank you, as well, for your ringing endorsement. I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and by arriving late you saved yourself from my 9-year dry-spell. Being compared to Imogen is quite the complement, thanks. I'm glad you're enjoying Colin's inclusion.

So Lily's taken it upon herself to educate Colin. I think she'd be a bit more cautious, as Colin is naturally going to tell his parents. I did like the bit about the Snakes and Ladders game. Do the snakes bite But this seems to be more about Colin than Neville and Harry.

Lily isn't too worried about him telling his parents, since it is something they would eventually learn about. I doubt they will believe him at first, but when they do, I can see her being completely open with them about it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. The snakes don't bite, they don't even hiss or Neville might have had some luck talking to them. I admit that this chapter did focus a fair bit on Colin, but he is not the focus of the story as a whole.

I hope none of your readers are really anal enough to complain about your handling of this situation. It's AU, after all, and it's your story. If they don't like it, they don't have to read it, right?
I, for one, really like how you've handled the situation. I totally agree that at eleven it's just a rude shock.

Nope, no one was anal enough to complain to my face. I'm glad you approve of my handling of the problem. Personally, I think families should be informed as soon as muggleborn births appear in the registar. Besides, I couldn't very well have Colin living next door for 8 years completely in the dark, now could I?
Thanks for your review,

I LOVE your story.  It's so fresh and gives me a different view.  Of course in my heart Harry will be the only Boy-Who-Lived and Lily and James really died, which breaks my heart, but you play this out so well that, well, I'm happy to read this.  Keep up the great work, my fellow magical person.

Thank you! I'm glad You enjoy the "fresh" view.  I've seen so many Neville as boy-who-lived stories crop up in the time since I've started writing this (most of which disappointed me) that I worried people might find this an overused plot point.  I'm glad to be disproven.  I'm sorry to hear that your heart is broken, may time dull the pain... I'm glad you're happy while reading.  As for me being your fellow magical person...it pains me to break it to you, I'm just your common everyday muggle.  They just haven't caught me to Obliviate me yet...

"Unfortunately they’d also come in covered in dry and caked mud from the puddles they had intentionally jumped in…"  My son is exactly like Harry, Neville and Colin...if there's a puddle or a bit of slimy, gooey mud, he's in it, covered from head to toe and happy as a clam!  I really love your descriptions of the boys' play; how natural it is and how completely absorbed children of this age can get while playing.  I think the reason why I like this story so much is that you really have a way of writing young children so they are "real".

Thank you.  Those words mean a lot to me.  I always strive to make my characters behave realistically and my main worry in writing about the boys is that I have so little practical experience in dealing with young children, especially boys .  I'm glad that in your eyes at least I've been successful and I certainly hope that I do not disappoint in the future.
