Wow! That was quite a breakfast preperation! Neville likes boys? I sure hope Luna is wrong about that one. Mrs. Weasley is not going to be happy but at least breakfast is ready. I look forward to more of this story. p

It very nice how you have Harry's friends rally around him .
'“Do you think it looks pretty?” She craned her neck and gazed down at the necklace. “Why would anyone care how something looks when they can’t see it themselves?”' -- great line ; no Hermione, don't try to figure Luna out .

You really know how to end a chapter! That was great. I particularly love Luna's necklace discussion - Hermione, for all her intelligence, displays an appalling knack for jumping to the wrong conclusions. I like Neville - his confidence is growing but he's still adorable Neville! love this line: Neville, who was bright purple. “I can’t smell anything but bacon, Harry,”

Oh, you have to love Luna.

“Oh, no, Harry, Neville likes boys, not girls."

Priceless.

This was a great chapter. I am really glad that Neville and Luna are going to join Harry and the rest of the gang. It will make for a more interesting story than if it were just Ron, Ginny, Hermione and Harry.

You are doing an amazing job so far and I cannot wait to see what is coming up next!

I think the 'embedded journalist' line is the one I'm proudest of here--it just seems so Luna all of the way around! XD

First time I've ever fallen foul of the lame review filter

A few interesting twists to cope with, it 'll be fun to see how they work out.

I read the comments as to why you made Neville gay, and whilst inderstand your reasoning, I think you could have kept him het and achieved the same result as Neville and Luna aren\'t really matched as a couple.

BTW, scones for breakfast is not something you\'d find in the UK. Scones over here means cream teas.

Roll on the next chapter!

Hee! Sorry about that--so few of the reviews here are 'lame' (and yours certainly not) that perhaps I should turn the blocker off.

I realized that about scones after I'd written it--but I decided that this was Luna and that perhaps they were lucky that she wasn't preparing dragon tartar.

At least it wasn't pancakes.

As for Neville's sexuality, I actually put a fair amount of thought into it. I didn't want to leave him and Luna both straight but uninvolved. I didn't want to put them together, both because I didn't want it to look like a Shakespearean romantic comedy at the end, with marrying couples sprouting up everywhere, and because JKR had said it wasn't going to happen. I considered having Luna be a lesbian, but decided that that was nowhere nearly as likely to lead to fun as having Neville be the non-het one. I don't think anyone would have batted an eye if Luna were the one outed.

It really isn't a major thread in the story--though it did allow for some comedy here and there.

This story has great promise; you have good ideas, a good grasp of where you are going and a wonderful turn of phrase, especially with Luna. I hope to see much more of this story, as it has a lot of potential.

Ah, pure Luna. Sorry I haven't reviewed before but this is great. Keep going!

Great job! Like the relationship that Harry and Hermione have, kind of like borther/sister. I'm very intrigue with the hand prints on both Harry and Ginny. Can not wait to see how it will end. Keep on writing.

Cute chapter. I wondered how you would get all of them involved. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I couldn't have Harry and Co wander off on their quest without Luna and Nevillle!

The dreaded slash element rears up its head! Good for you. (And quite canonical, I might add. I've always imagined Nevile and Ginny exchanging pictures of Harry ...)

I too liked Luna very much in this chapter; the business with the butterbeer corks was quite touching, actually.

Thanks! I love the two of them dearly in canon, and I knew that I had to get them both involved--without the whole thing turning into a Noah's Ark, two-by-two march into the sunset. In a way, having Neville be gay made his sexuality LESS of an issue! ;-)

The fact of the matter is (as I bring up later in the story), the only canon evidence to Neville's sexuality is his inviting first Hermione and then Ginny to the Yule Ball. But the school doesn't seem to have a whole lot of patience for non-standard behavior, so I had a hard time imagining that that was a statement of preference. And, in a way, the fact that he so easily switched from his first to his second choice implies that he wasn't terribly hung up on either of them romantically.

The butterbeer necklace idea was expanded from a story by the wonderful Luna-centric author Michelle_31a entitled "Whose Afraid of Luna Lovegood."

what the was the end about?

If you mean, why were the Weasleys so serious... Well, that will be made clear in the next chapter.

If you mean, did Luna really say that Neville was gay... Uh, yes.

I played with Neville's sexuality here for two reasons:

It allowed the six of them to wander off on their quest without it becoming a Noah's Ark, two-by-two routine (after all, JKR must have sunk the Neville/Luna ship for a reason, right?). If Neville and Luna are both straight but somehow never get together while H/G and R/Hr are off snogging in corners, it makes them seem even more sad then they are. I love both of the characters and wanted to find a way for them to participate without their love-lives being an issue. In a way, having Neville be gay removed both of them from the equation, because the symmetry of the hextet was broken. Making him gay made his sexuality LESS of an issue.

Also, it allowed Luna to say something outrageous. Which is always fun.
