I LOVE your Ginny. I really felt the loss of her presence in DH and am so glad she's here in full force.

oh no! I always thought Harry would die in the final battle but it's so sad to actually read about it. And MUNDUNGUS! GARH, I would be so furious if I were Harry.

this is really interesting and I love the story line with Harry and Ginny. Harry had better not die or I will be heart broken for sure.

I don't see why Harry trusts Hermione. She broke her promise twice. She showed she can not handle being interigated ex Mrs. Weasley, and told Ginny info that was was not hers to share. If I were Harry, I would question her loyalty versus her I know best attitude. is a traitor. I love the story!

“Tell it to the Goblins,” Harry said, turning his back on Malfoy. “I’m certain they’d love to hear it.”
Great chapter. In my head I could hear the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings playing...very action packed. Love it.

Boy, this story's really picking up steam now. This is another really enjoyable chapter. Good work!

While it lacked the intensity and emotional impact of the last couple of chapters, I thought this one worked just as well because it's so smooth. It was just grave enough to fit with the news from Chapter 6, but before that could take over the story, you made as sudden and deft a transition as I've seen it quite a while to shift the focus and pick up the pace.

I can't express enough how much I like the way you had come up with RAB meaning. From my perspective, it's a bit mystifying she didn't figure out that Regulus was at least a candidate in Book 6, so for her to put it together so fast at a mere mention of his name only makes sense. I also appreciate the irony of having be the one to spark the connection; he's helping even when his being stuck up.

Also, kudos for running with Fletcher's robbery. That had to be put into canon for some reason, and it a nice way to add a bit of a challenge to the hunt for that Horcrux.

Anyway, again, good job and thanks for all the hard work. I look forward to where you're headed next.

I really don't want to think of Harry as the Horcrux. So I'll move on. I like the determination he was able to raise from his friends and the encouragement he got from it himself. I liked seeing spunky!Ginny too. That's the way I like to see here. I was so worried when Harry was going to have her leave there for a while. I hope they find the locket soon.

I'm glad you didn't turn Malfoy into a nobler version of himself, but let him keep his lacking-nobility-completely kind of character.

And Hermione - conspiring against/for Harry ... He'd better keep an eye on her.

I don't know how you do it. Your chapters leave nothing to be desired as far as the word count goes, but it still seems to take only minutes to read through - and that's supposed to be a compliment.

At first I was happy with the thought of you writing again. I was like "yay! I can be happy again!" But now you totally are not making friends. I mean, seriously, making Harry a Horcrux is not the nicest thing. Honestly, you need to work on your people skills.

Although I have to admit it is brilliantly written. Keep it up.

I was in the lineup for GOF, and of course the conversation was ,what else,? Harry Potter. From the general consensus, I would say you are not far wrong on your assumption that Harry is a horcrux. We all thought that in book 7, JK, is going to kill off HP, cause she,s tired of writing the books and she,s richer than the Royal Family by now. What better way to cease and desist than "Kill Im Off". I love the fact that Ginny is in the middle of all this. She,s far more clever than Hermione. Hermione is supposedly smarter, but, Ginny is clever and devious. Beside I don,t like Mione much,as you can tell. Great fic and great lob of writing it.J.

Gasp! Oh, no! How can diehard HP fans have so little faith? Canon!Harry must live. It's too heartbreaking, otherwise. He's the good guy!

How come you don't like Hermione? I like her - just not for Harry.

hmmm, hmmm, Harry and Ginny in the same room for a WHOLE night??? Dear, dear, dear, hat WAs Mrs Weasley thinking...
Nice chapter, Hermione telling Ginny about the Horcruxes seems fairly logical.
Monday 1st May 2006 13:33The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Well, I think Mrs. Weasley thought Harry needed Ginny. He'd been very upset the previous night. She did, however, ensure that Harry only had Ginny's company while he slept. As soon as he awoke, she was right in the room to chaperone them.

I'm glad you can see my point with Hermione telling Ginny. A few people were upset by it, but I agree. I think she would do it.

Oh, I do love your devious plot and your brilliant characterisation!

He left Malfoy fuming in the hallway and walked back to his own room to get dressed. Baiting Malfoy might have been childish, but it had felt really good, and Harry’s heart was lighter as he ran down the stairs to the kitchen.
Me and Harry both - I loved the Malfoy baiting.

Further plot talks and I do so adore that there are so many POTENTIAL ways this plot can go, strands withing strands - superb!

Last chapter REALLY was pivotal.

Your characterisation of Ginny was especially outstanding in this chapter.

“We were all really concerned about you last night,” Ginny said tentatively, and he was grateful to her for not demanding answers right away. “Mum didn’t want to disturb you after you’d fallen asleep, but she used a charm to alert her as soon as you woke. Expect her any minute. She’d never allow enough time for any funny business.”

Harry blushed deeply enough to do any Weasley proud and tried to extricate himself from Ginny’s embrace.

“Don’t worry. It’s not you she doesn’t trust; it’s me,” Ginny said, grinning. She arched her eyebrow and looked him up and down speculatively. “She’s probably right about that."

Wonderful, wonderful story and characterisation - thanks a million for writing this!!!!

Excellent, of course!

The part about a still-mostly-asleep Ginny shifting to seek Harry's body heat was amusing: my wife is (also) a heat-seeker. :-)

And the description of Ginny in the drawing room, "explaining" to the guys that she would be staying in the conversation (& why) was remarkably good -- she has passion, most definitely.

The interlude with Harry leaving his shower and encountering the blond ferret was amusing. Odd that Draco didn't just use Reparo, perhaps -- but then, he might be underage, too. (But then, since when did following the rules for its own sake become a Slytherin trait? :-})

Ah; good that the Gang of Four [:-}] has stumbled across RAB. :-) I wonder about the extent to which Mundungus will be cooperative, though.

And I wonder if the portrait of thr Four Founders might have an additional clue about something that Snake-Face tom might have used for a Horcrux...?

I look forward to the next chapter (in case that wasn't obvious!). :-)
Sunday 30th April 2006 09:37The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee! I'm a heat-seeker myself, so I could totally relate to that, lol. Actually, I thought everybody was!

As for the "reparo". I'm certain that's just what he did, but like antiques, once a valuable is cracked, it's value is significantly less, even if it's repaired. Any magical are dealer would be able to tell

Dung is still in Azkaban, so they need to find where he lived. To me, Dung appeared a bit of a drifter...

Haha...I must say at this point that so far, you've written the best Post-HBP pseudo-7th year fic I've read at this point...it's really quite a fun read.

However, I have to point out...Hermione was wrong...the Diary in fact was damaged...Harry sorta stabbed it with a Basilisk fang to destroy it, and therefore the piece of Voldie's soul inside...:\

Aww, thanks. I'm honored you think so. You are right, the diary was damaged , but not destroyed. That's the significance. THe ring, too - damaged but not destroyed. Remember, Harry still used the diary. He flipped through the pages to put his sock inside.

Just when I was getting ready to hit Hermione you have her come up with the beginings of a solution.

I thought you wrote Kreacher's dialogue very well.

I am really enjoying your story.

You are setting a stage for a fantastic quest!

There is one element in your fic that is a little disturbing (in the positive literary sense of the word): the tension between Ron and Ginny. I don't know if you are planning something in this front, but there is an element of drama involving the relationship between the two siblings. It is like the reader was able to "feel" that tension.

Good Work!

Ron and Ginny? Yeah, I think although Ron accepted Harry's dating Ginny, it will still take him a little while to get used to it. He has a very protective personality, and I think he's always been protective of BOTH Harry and Ginny, so it'll take him a little while to work out his place in the sceme of things.

Saturday 29th April 2006 05:01The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Aww, thanks! There had to be a loophole, lol. I wanted Ginny to come along. Originally when I plotted this story, I had Ginny back at Hogwarts secretly helping Hermione, but it just wouldn't work that way. I WANT Ginny with them, SHE wanted to be with them, and most importantly, HARRY wanted her there. Besides, none of the fans on this archive wanted to read it without her there, right?

Wonderful chapter. I really like your Ginny.
I saw your response about Regulus' name and I want to add my two cents. I saw a post by someone in Fiction Alley forums that claimed to have been sent a letter by Steve Vander Ark telling that the information about the name Regulus Arcturus was a correct one, but they decided not to have it posted because Jo Rowling hasn't posted it anywhere herself. I don't know if we can trust this person, but Steve himself, in TLC forum seemed pretty sure about this information. I bet he had contact with one of the translators of HBP who needed to know R.A.B.'s real name in order to translate it.
Alphard was Regulus' uncle, but Arcturus was his grandfather, the father of his father, as we could 9and can) see in the Black Family tree here.

*deep breath* I feel a little better now after "hearing" Hermione explain that the other two Horcrux "containers" survived after destroying the soul fragments. There is hope for Harry. (That is my biggest fear regarding the 7th book, that JKR will do the unthinkable and kill off Harry!) Thank goodness for Ginny, Hermione, and Ron! I have an idea about what one of the missing Horcruxes could be. It seems as if both you and I noticed a certain detail in HBP. I'll keep my opinion to myself and will let you know if I guessed right later. As always, thanks for the great chapter! Can't wait for the next update.

I'm continually impressed by the way you can move along the story at such a good pace and leave in those nice emotional moments. I found Ginny's determination and spunky anger satisfying. I am glad that Harry has come to his senses and is including her in the hunt.

I so wanted Harry to explode and let Malfoy have it, but it was probably a better choice to portray Harry more under control. His measured response is more in line with HPB Harry characterization as he has matured substantially since OotP and his emotional outbursts (ah, but how I love those). I think it would be terrific to have Harry and Malfoy be forced to cooperate at some point. What a lovey tension-filled and delicious scene that would be. I can just imagine Ron! Eeee!

I agree with how you have Harry approaching this hunt systematically (step-by-step) and not really thinking about the end-game (at least not thinking about it emotionally yet). It's the only way to make it through - at least until the end is in sight and the reality/immediacy of the situation begin to register. Hmmm, but I'm just an angst machine and like it when Harry cries. Plough ahead intrepid hero!
Friday 28th April 2006 15:57The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Aww, thanks! I agree, I thought Harry matured a whole lot in HBP, and at the end of that book, he was actually feeling sorry for Malfoy. Don't worry though - they won't become fast friends, that underlying tension will always be between them, I think.

Heh, I'm an angst machine, as well, and I also love it when Harry cries, lol. Don't worry, I'll let him have his breakdown before the story concludes.

The Seventh Horcrux
Regulus Arcturus Black

Regulus's name appeared in the above form on the HP lexicon for only a matter of hours before it was pulled. The lexicon authors, as far as I can tell, have been tight lipped about the whole thing. However, if you look at the derivation of the name, you'll see that it fits in nicely with the family naming scheme. I have a series of blog posts investigating this whole topic.

Anyway, I think I like where this story is going. But, I think that Harry should have been more angry at Hermione. Trust has always been an issue with Harry in my mind and this constitutes a huge breach of confidence. I would have been more angry, even if it did take care of some of my future aims. I think that for Harry to be successful, he needs to be able to trust his friends absolutely and not have them second guess him and just assume that some things might be better for him despite his wishes. Harry has fought that battle his whole life and he doesn't need that fight with his friends as well.

You've done a nice job so far. Keep up the good work.

-millercommamatt
Friday 28th April 2006 15:54The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Yeah, I did see that when it was on the Lexicon, but since it went down I figured it was either unconfirmed, or JKR asked them to, lol. I went with Alphard since that was the name of the uncle Sirius mentioned.

As for Harry's anger - I purposely didn't have him fly off the handle over this, actually. First, because I thought he matured a lot in HBP, and second because trust of his friends is going to be a huge issue later on. I wanted to show how differently Harry handled this rather than the broom incident in PoA. Hermione WAS right, and trust goes both ways. I think Harry's learned that he doesn't always have the answers and that his friends just might.

Woohoo! Another chapter. You voice the characters so well. I just feel a immersed in the story by your style.

I'm glad you decided the Dung picked up the locket. I figure that is probably going to be canon. It'll be interesting to see what chases will pursue.

I do wonder how Harry is going to get the Order to lay off him without sharing the prophecy.

I'm glad Ginny is in on it - this should be interesting. I wonder how much of "The power he knows not" is going to involve Ginny and be what will help Harry survive the 7th horcrux.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter!! Thanks so much for such a great ride!!

Thanks! I think Dung's mysterious suitcase will be involvedl, as well. She must have shown us that for a reason, right?
