$%^&%^$! Harry never gets to have a good birthday. It's so unfair!

On a rare crit note: I actually wished that Hermione had refused the firewhisky. She basically succumbed to peer presure to do something she really didn't want to. On the flip side, I suppose that that is very realistic, I just wish your Hermione had been stronger than that. And frankly, that her friends would respect her for sticking to her principles, rather than respect her for breaking them to please...

rofl... this story is being plugged as the real Deathly Hallows everywhere. I think the epolige for this story was even put onto Gaiaonline (seen it in the news in the past day?) as the real thing, before it was taken down and the poster sued
But I can see why people believe it's the real thing! I love how well edited it is, it's really professionally done, you've used similar grammar to her, spelling is right, it's British in language and in grammar... If you end up being the real JKRowling then I would not be at all surprised.
And if you're not, you're either her editor or one of her kids with an amazing talent. Hurry up and publish your own books so we can buy them and become obsessive about finding your next book online.

Anyway. I've only gotten this far but I love it. Esspically how it's not written in a way to not offend the kiddies/parents... I am seriously waiting for Harry to just jump on Ginny and drag her off to a broomcloset as the scene ends. The poor boy is tormented so much! And Malfoy. ! And Snape! And Bellatrix! ...well, okay, not so much her. I'm just a fan.
Hooray! Onto the next chapter of the unoffical Deathly Hallows that's just been made famous worldwide by some idiot who thought he was spoiling it for everyone.

“Yes, Ginny,” George said, grinning mischievously. “What took you so long? Was it hard to get Harry to rise this morning?”

That is genius. Just adult enough to make it all believable, as believable as can be in any case. I really enjoyed this chapter. It's nice to have a little fun before all the serious work gets going. Love it. to

I've just found your story and I can't believe how well you write. You capture the emotions of the characters perfectly. Your insight into Harry's feelings is spot on. Also I LOVED Hermione transfiguring Malfoy - priceless

I love how they outwitted the minister at his own game. And Ginny and Hermione drunk was priceless. I'd love to see how Draco finally got turned back. I hope Harry doesn't let Narcissa's words fester too much though knowing Harry, he probably will.

That was great, Malfoy a ferret again, that really is a classic lol. Nice for Harry to have a decent birthday, something he can remember when he's out finding the Horcruxes over the next few months..

Well on to the next chapter I go..

That was a good but bad way to end Harry's birthday party. Good with the little part and what happened in them and bad with Malfoy showing up. And go Hermione!

The story's starting to pick up...I like.

I also like the direction it's taking as of now...before I was kinda iffy, as I'm not a particular fan of the idea of Harry being a horcrux, but hey...

It's turning out very interesting.

Great chapter, I loved Ginny in this chapter! I think the way you've written them as a couple is perfect what with Harry shouldering the weight of the world and Ginny there to hold him up, it's a great image in my head. Keep up the wonderful work and update soon!

Excellent, overall.

Peckish? I'd think that if anyone's peckish in the household, that
Molly's talent of cooking would be just the thing to address that sort
of "problem"....

I'll take your word on the effects of Firewhiskey. :-} The "drunk Hermione" was a little strange, perhaps. And maybe I'm being a stick-in-the-mud, but I have a bit of a challenge reconciling the loss of control inherent in getting drunk with the situation in which they are -- especially with Draco wandering around loose. :-/ But I think your story-telling managed to overcome my reservations on that score. :-)

Well done!
Monday 22nd May 2006 20:47The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee - well, you know I'm a fan of drinking scenes - besides, I think it's very important that they do show their age once in awhile. It keeps them real. They aren't adults, and this release of tension is important for them. Plus - it's fun to write.

HARRY WASN'T DRUNK!!!!

You promised! Well, you didn't ... but still! I did like drunk!Hermione, and ginny ... but Ron wasn't very drunk either. You must promise to have them use the other bottle and get really, really pissed, ok? Yes?

Lovely chapter, it's really getting exciting now ... oooh was Narcissa mad! I loved that, it was the best!

Overuse of exclamation marks, but what the hell. Your story deserves it!

Tuesday 16th May 2006 07:05The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee, sorry - no really drunk!Harry here. I always laugh by how many people like him. I'm going to try and work in another scene where it's Harry and Ron. No promises, but it's definitely in the outline at the moment.

Brilliant chapter. Absolutely brilliant fun.
I'm still hoping Voldie's made a mistake about that 7th Horcrux...it's just too awful of a situation for poor Harry after all he's already been through.
Either way, it's such a gripping story...
Tuesday 16th May 2006 07:04The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! Things are never easy for poor Harry, are they. I tend to think that's what the prophecy means, however. Neither can live while the other survives. I think Harry can't truly be happy and have things go his way until after Voldemort is gone. In canon, I hope that means a happily ever after. I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't.

I wake up with a cold, feeling miserable about having to go to work, and there was your newest update, waiting to cheer me up. It was a nice way to start my day. I have always loved how you write Ginny and Harry's interaction, especially how comforting and centering Ginny is for Harry. Must say that I enjoyed the little snog fest in the Harry's room. Loved how Harry got the best of the Minister's attempt to capitalize on Harry's presence at Ministry. I thoroughly enjoy how you depict Mr. Weasley. His quiet wisdom is a nice balance against Molly's fiery passion. And speaking of Molly, I loved the power play between her and Mrs. Malfoy. My money is on Molly! Guess the adventure really starts in the next chapter? Thanks for updating.

Heh, thanks. I hope your day improved! I do like Arthur and Molly very much, and I enjoy writing them. They've forever earned a soft spot in my heart for the way they've taken to Harry.

The Seventh Horcrux
Hi Melindaleo.

This one of the best chapters so far, with some brilliant dialogue and a couple of very emotionally powerful scenes mixed with a couple of angst-funny scenes as well (bad description but couldn't really come up with something better at the moment.). Well, that was all words and no meaning so here is the detail.

Brilliant dialogue:

“I know exactly what I want to do,” he said, nibbling on her ear, “but I think your mum might object if we spend the day up here – not to mention your army of brothers.”

“Well,” Ginny said, standing up and straightening her clothing. “It’s nice to see that my mum’s timing is as impeccable as always.”

“Don’t worry, Harry. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to continue our activities once we’re out from under her eye,” Ginny said with an impish wink.

They looked at each other, stunned speechless before turning as one to face Hermione. She sat on Ron’s bed, calmly polishing her wand. “Ginny was right,” she said simply. “The bloody does look like a ferret.”

[qoute]“It’d be nice if you could say that once in awhile when I hadn’t done your homework for you or performed a brilliant piece of Transfiguration,” Hermione said primly.[/qoute]

Lines like this vividly, and fondly, reminds of the brilliant black and white films of 30's and 40's with their submachinegun-like dialogue and razorsharp wit - an era I fear that won't ever coma back in cinema and more the pity for then the scripts were so incredibly good - not the focus on FX and visuals that is here now. But I digress, what I mean is that i absolutely love your dialogue, you are almost up there with the big scriptwriters of the time mentioned and I absolutely adore it.

Angst-funny scenes: The scene between Harry and Ginny in the beginning, the scene between Narcissa and Molly and of course Malfoy and the "gang" - some humour but lingering in the background is the dread of worse things to come.

Emotionally powerful scenes: Harry and Ginny in the beginning of the chapter, the talk to Percy.

Truly a highlight sofar in the series!

Aww, thanks so much! I do enjoy writing the dialog much more than the descriptive stuff (and I know it shows). I've been working on that, actually...but the dialog is still what I enjoy most, so I'm glad you like reading it.

So Harry's finally of age? Wonderful chapter. I was glad to see Harry standing up for himself in regards to the ministry, and also that Percy might be looking to make a change. Overall I loved the emotional range that you presented, from joy and sorrow to guilt, love, and anger; it's part of what makes your stories great. What becomes of the ferret now though? It would be unfortunate if he had to wander the halls of Grimmauld Place for the rest of his life. Great job.
Tuesday 16th May 2006 06:48The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, nah - I think Narcissa would have fixed him right up, and complained about his treatment, as well. Fortunately, the kids won't be around to catch any grief.

That was bloody brilliant! I loved it from start to finish! Kudos to Hermione with her bit of transfiguration and Molly's control of the kitchen. I also loved the bit where Harry noticed the similarities of his situation to Malfoy's. He's definitely on the right side and with the right people! And kudos to Ginny for keeping Harry from slipping into another one of his funks!

Wow...what a chapter! I'm not sure which scene is my favorite the one where Mr. Weasley is so supportive of Harry and his committment to fulfilling the task set him by Dumbledore or the gathering in Harry's bedroom where Hermione takes after Moody! Both hit my sentimental spot right in the bulls eye. By the way, your depction of Narcissa Malfoy was pretty funny, too. Please update again soon. This is a great story and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Another fun chapter!!

My favorite line - it jumped out at me: Ginny, “I promised myself to be the one to prop you back up if you falter. You might be determined to save the wizarding world, but I’m determined to save you.” I just love it - it so sums up what Ginny will be for Harry.

I just really like your characterizations & pacing of the story. I look forward to each chapter - it's like a present for the week and makes my week better when I know I've got this to read.

Definetly wondering how the quest will begin. Hopefully that hangover potion really works!!! Is Harry going to try to leave without the others? I just wonder how much turmoil he's going to go through regarding the deaths of those closest to him.

Can't wait for the next chapter!! Thanks!!!!

Heh, that'd be interesting, wouldn't it, lol? Honestly, I don't think the Order would refuse protection to anyone though, do you? Voldemort is after them, so I think the Order would help. It's what DD would have wanted them to do.

The Seventh Horcrux
Well I finally got to read the whole chapter after several interupted attrempts.

Sad to say I found myself cheering when Ron passed !

One point I would raise is the idea of Hermione talking about 'curse words'. Given that a curse in magical society means something different to muggle society I would have thought that her talking about swearing would have been more appropriate and more in keeping with the country of her birth.

A small point that shouldn't detract from that fact that it was another enjoyable chapter.
Monday 15th May 2006 06:47The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee, poor Ron. That one little eyebrow. He was robbed.

As for the "cursing", I suppose you're right, but I thought I've read it termed that way in the books. Of course, I read the American versions, so it could have been changed anyway.

This chapter had a very nice flow to it. Well done. Also, you resolved the conflict scene with Malfoy brilliantly. While Hermione was an entertaining drunk, I think it would have been cute if she turned more ostentatious than the twins. Anyway, thanks for writing. I think Hermione is my hero...LOL

That was perfect...That whole scene and I hope that Harry can work through all the Malfoy and Co. keep shoveling on them.

I think that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley are gonna be ticked and royally. I hope Percy smooths the way for the foursome by coming home and ending his pratish ways.

I so love your writing! It is the best...PLEASE keep it up...This is a great story.

Ahh! There was so much I loved about this chapter. I can never resist a drinking party. I love watching the inhibitions fly out the window! I love how you've written Ginny to be so in tune with Harry, yet she continues to keep hold of the things I love about her character. Way to go!

Also, kudos to Mrs. Weasley for standing her ground against Narcissa and to Hermione for hexing Draco (we'd all love to). I can't wait to keep reading.

Melinda, this was a great chapter! I love that Ginny told Harry her concern is saving him. You write this couple so well. And the twins at breakfast were hilarious! Hermione was so funny during their little "party"! I was laughing out loud. And when she turned Draco into a ferret! LOL!
