Absolutely brilliant--your work gives me chills. It's been weeks since the publiction of DH, and I've been in serious Harry Potter withdrawal. Finding this story was like stumbling across another book 7. Thanks so much for the gift... you are an amazing talent, and I wish you all the best in your future writing efforts. I'll look forward to reading any other fanfics of yours, and hope to someday see your work at my local bookstore as well!

I love your work and I have read all of it. You must be channeling some of JKR creativity, as this scene seems to be depicted right on the cover of the book!! It is a shame and, I suppose, compliment that people are sending this story around as the real deal. I have made sure to link all of this leaked nonsense back to this site and tell people that you put a disclaimer on EACH page to let them know you are just borrowing the characters and having some fun. Keep writing. I throughly enjoy your righting! Maybe you'll be able to pick up where JRK leaves off.

Oh, thanks so much! Hee - I was a bit stunned when I saw that cover myself, lol.
Thanks so much for spreading the word about the leaked version, I do appreciate that.
There is a site called PotterFicWeekly that does podcasts of certain fics. They are about to start TSH (this weekend, I think). There is a forum where you can post some comments to be discussed in the podcast.

Wonderful scene. I love the use of a dragon. And Harry can feel the magic. He needs to tell his friends to keep that to themselves like Moody said. I bet that Muggle man out for a walk was Simmons. Voldy will know now and will be watching them. I wonder what kind of punishment his death Eaters will get for this. I'm glad they're all going back to headquarters but I fear Molly's wrath for them. I hope they can hold up under the pressure especially Hermione. She caved when Harry went to Godrics Hollow; let's hope she doesn't again but she is a different person now. Two thumbs up

A replay of the first task? - I'm afraid that Ginny got her history right, but you didn't. The Parthenon is a temple with a rectangular layout, it does not have an arena and the roof isn't open, so Harry couldn't possibly "soar into the blue sky". - Quite a lucky stroke that the dragon could eliminate the horcrux ...

Here's the link I used for the information and picture of the Parthenon:

Awesome chapter! I really didn't see the destruction of the Horcrux coming but it was a great idea. Kinda reminded me of Lord of the Rings -- the only way to destroy The Ring of Power was the Crack of Doom (or whatever it was that destroyed it in the end) or from fire from an ancient dragon. So the Horcrux kinda worked like that.

And of course, the twisted side of me somehow likes to see Harry get severely injured. Not sure why. I'm just weird lol! At least Mrs Weasley's maternal instincts towards an injured Harry should override her fury! And the fact that Ginny remains unharmed should also pacify her.

Nice work! xoxox

Hi Melindaleo. Yet another belated review I'm afraid, I'll have to see what I can do to reverese this lamentable trend. But now onto the important stuff: the review!

This was a ROCKER of chapter - I mean WOW! This is like the best ever - forget chapter 34 of PoE and chapter 29 of CoD, as good as they are they don't hold a candle to the nail-biting action is this chapter!!! I swear that after I had read the action of this chapter I was thinking that this was up there amongst the best action-scenes I've seen on cinema, like Ob-Wan/Qui-Jin/Darth Maul lightsaber duel in Episode I or the climatic Obi-Wan/Anakin lightsaber fight at the end of episode III - it felt that real and vivid and powerful and fast and furious and tense and WOW, basically. I could write praise-words for a long time and still not be able to convey properly how much I loved the action between Harry and the Dragon - to qoute Ron "Bloody brilliant!"

The whole set up of the chapter, the way you told it made the tension almost palpable and real - a real nailbiter. I think you captured the characters aboslutely spot on and your story-telling rocks like KISS, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones and The Who all playing at the same time - unbelievable!!!

Your writing has matured immensly and this is so impressive, so PROFESSIONAL it's scary. If authors like Dan "Da Vinci" Brown can make zillions on other peoples stories I don't see why wouldn't be able to make it as a pro! I would certainly pay to read your books!

Excellent stuff, thanks for writing and sharing this!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent -- I like the way Ginny's coming to appreciate that her mother really is "tough." And the scene with the dragon -- I was wondering ('til you explained it) why Harry & Ginny didn't set out to double-team the critter from the start.

Yeah, there were some serious injuries -- wonder how Hermione's hair that was lost will grow back: will it be bushy, like what was lost, or something else? -- but none quite mortal.

Molly & much of the rest of the Order are likely about to freak.
Sunday 4th June 2006 15:08The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Molly and the Order are coming up next. Yes, Ginny's beginning to see her mother through grown-up eyes - always a painful part of reaching adulthood, right?

This is gonna sound massively nit-picky, but there's no such dragon as a Siberian Scythe-tail in Cannon, JKR named all the Dragon kinds in FBWFT and the Serb doesn't make the cut.

Well after several attempts to read this and then review I've finally nade it

great chapter!! that was an interesting trap for the horcrux! (or, should i say, for the finders of the horcrux!) anyway, i have a feeling all of the horcruxes will be destroyed on instinct by Harry, even in canon. It makes sense to me, so I like how you did it! I can't wait for the next chapter to see everyone's reactions!

great job!

I absolutely loved this chapter, Melinda--I love the borrowed chapter title! Oh, my! I have always loved the dragon scene in GoF and this one was just as exciting. You had me on the edge of my computer chair, riveted to the screen and hoping Harry's conjured broom would last, until the action ended. Thank goodness Ginny was with him to identify Tom's dragon (but I couldn't find this breed in Fantastic Beasts, so I'm assuming you took author's liberty to create a creature for your purpose ) and encourage Harry to remember he's a wizard!

Grumpy!Hermione was hilarious. More and more often I find myself feeling much like she was before my morning cup of coffee. And as for Ron's protectiveness of her, his affection and concern went straight to my fluffy spot.

Finally, the mother in me really felt for Molly and the fact that the tigress in her refused to give up looking for her wayward children. I have a feeling that true to Ginny's predictions, Molly's going to have a first class conniption fit when she sees the state of Harry, Ron and Hermione in the next chapter. I can hardly wait. Keep the chapters coming 'coz I'm glued to this story like Harry is to his Horcrux!
Thursday 1st June 2006 09:13The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Squee! Aww, thanks! Yes, you're right - I did make up the Scythe-tip. My middle son is Dragon obsessed and we have more dragon "stuff" in this house than anyone should rightly own, lol. I went through his toys and picked out the parts I liked best, then put together a dragon that suited my purposes. I like the idea of a whip-like tail best.

You're the first to mention grumpy!Hermione, and I'm so pleased. I liked her, too, and I can DEFINITELY be that way in the morning. My oldest son has even asked me if I'd had my tea yet on occasion when I've been snapply, lol.

I liked this chapter, although not as much as I usually like your story. I think Harry obtained the horcrux and destroyed it too easily(although I know fighting the dragon isn't an easy task...). Just look at DD's state when he destroyed the ring, or after he drunk the liquid.
ON the plus side, Harry being able to hear the hums of the anti apparition wards and Hermione not, Hermione being a little jealous about it, is nice, it's also consistent with the story.
Thursday 1st June 2006 09:09The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Yes, it's true Harry had an easier time than Dumbledore, but Harry had an easier time with the Diary, as well. In fact, he had an easier time than he did here, I think. Somehow, in canon, I think that's related.

The Seventh Horcrux
Draco told Harry (in chap 8) about the four DEs ordered to guard something, which Harry concludes must be the horcruxes. The teens noted the "muggle" repeatedly walking the block around the Smith house. Did it occur to Harry that the walker was probably working for Voldemort, thus confirming that they were in the right location?

Voldemort set up the horcrux protections so that it would be impossible for one person to get to them alone. It makes sense that a loner such as he would develop such a system. I rather think he can't comprehend a horcrux hunter having companions who love him enough to accompany him on such a dangerous task.

Obviously Molly is going to let the kids know her displeasure over their disappearance (after they recover from their injuries), but I think Harry is really going to get it from Remus too.

Fantastic chapter! I especially like how well the four work together. Many thanks for an exciting read!

Nothing better than the "on the edge of your seat" action!!! That was a great chapter.

With them coming back to Grimmauld place wounded is probably the best way to get Molly over to them. She'll be angry, but more concerned about them being hurt. When they do get better - it should be a heck of a tongue lashing from her.

I like Harry & Ginny needing the constant touching. I think that will be important in pursuading the Order that they need to be able to continue their private quest as adults.

I just really like this story. You write so well. This is a pleasure & a great start to the day!!! Thanks!

The Seventh Horcrux
That was certainly an action packed chapter, and I loved every minute of it. I am so relieved that Harry and Co will make it back to Grimmauld Place to see Molly - had this horrible feeling that you would kill her off before she got the chance to yell at them!
What is pleasing to read is the mistakes that Harry etc make, and I realise that doesn't make much sense. They shouldn't be expected to know everything and do it all perfectly the first time. I thought the team work and especially their problem solving was brilliant.
One Muggle in particular appeared to be simply out for an evening stroll, passing them every few minutes while on the opposite side of the street, as if he was circling the block.

If it isn't important then why mention it? Who is this muggle and why is he keeping watch?

Hehe...I think the kids have managed to do perhaps the only thing that will stop Molly from screaming at them - three of them are injured, and Ginny will be bringing them back to her to fix up.

So many great things about your writing Melinda...

Kill Mrs. Weasley?? Gasp! Bite your tongue! Who would ensure they all got something to eat?

Whee! Yey for the destruction of one horcrux!

This chapter was very very sweet, especially the part about Harry wanting to touch Ginny. I can really see him wanting to feel as close to her as possible. I really feel sorry for Mrs. Weasley...I don't know how any mother can stand having their youngest children in the middle of danger. But they're on their way to see her so I'm pretty curious to see how she'd react. I bet that Ginny was spot on in her prediction.

Great job on this chapter! I think that this horcrux hunt fic is one of the best I've read so far.

once, just once I'd like to see Ginny get hurt really really badly for her stubbornes and "I'm not a little girl, I can take care of myself" attitude. For some reason majority of writers make Ginny to bee this allpowerful heroine who's always right and there to save the day..
Wednesday 31st May 2006 09:13The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hmm...Yeah, I suppose teenagers never act stubbornly or resent being treated like a child, do they? All four of them have made mistakes, and all four of them will continue to do so. If you're looking for them to be hurt....just hang on, there are still three more Horcruxes to destroy.

This chapter had everything rolled into one. It started out so sweet with Harry and Ginny craving touches from each other. Next, you almost made me cry with Mrs. Weasley's reaction. I could totally see her fierce determination to find her kids. Then, I was on the edge of my seat when Harry was battling the dragon. I was wondering why Ginny didn't help him. I'm glad you explained that. Again, your Ginny was superb. You have down her wit, stubbornness, and loving nature. I love reading her.

Poor Ron and Hermione. I am a bit stressed about her being okay. I knew that they jinxed themselves when they were talking about being unharmed. Stupid Karma! I have faith that all will be okay though. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to keep reading.

The Seventh Horcrux
LORDY!! You had me gripping the mouse with all my strength as I watched Hermione and Ron get burnt and then read through that terrifying scene with Harry and the dragon! I'm still keyed up and anxious to see how they are and how they'll recover!

I guess Harry's concern about not being in any condition to allow reporters to catch sight of them after the Horcrux turned out to be prophetic. *shivers* I'll betcha that coming home so injured is going to keep Molly from screaming quite as loudly initially, but what about in the long run? Will it make it harder for her to let them go when they need to return to the fight? Or will she at least feel better knowing that they do come home when they need help?

Anxiously awaiting more!

Yay! That was just the reaction I was hoping for, so I'm so pleased you felt that way. All in all though, what better way for them to difuse Molly's anger than to come back needing her tender ministrations?
