The New Zealand Chronicles

So very happy to reread this. There are other things I should do, but ... how wonderful to dip into this world again. So happy Sherry gave you that birthday gift, so that I just have to rearead this. It’s quite funny, I keep getting flashes of eljay conversations as I read. Great time travel! *loves*

*loves back*

Time travel is a great way to put it! When I read it, I remember all the help and support I got and what a special time that was.

Thank you for reminding me of that!

Hope you and yours are well. We're all okay. I think Eddie has finally found his niche at university. He loves his economics classes - especially the ones around government policies and how they impact communities.

It makes me happy he's finally found his general direction. Being the mother of a university student is a lot harder than I imagined!

Wow...
“Was that really a Clean Sweep Seven?”

Good question haha. Brilliant though.
Luna's really good at guilting people huh? Even if she doesn't mean to.
Onto the next chapter!

Aww, another sweet chapter! I\'m intrigued by the Quidditch accident. Typical of Rita Skeeter to report that Ginny\'s pregnant, but Luna is LOVELY!! Bless her! Anyway, I really enjoyed this chappie again, great work

I do love Luna - I wish we could have seen more interaction between Ginny and Luna in canon - so I put it here. Thanks for reading!

Yes, I am reading this again from the beginning, now that it's ended. It's still wonderful.

"“This is important. You are the most important thing to me.”" So wonderful. So how I imagine your Harry and Ginny.

Great chapter. Looking forward to what's to come, even if I know what it is, lol.

LOL - are you sweet to read this again? Now I want to go back and cut things. That's what I get for posting as I go. Still, I'm glad it's enjoyable on the second go round.

So who got the snitch? WHO WON THE MATCH?!

Honestly! This story is a travesty with gaping plot holes.

Wait! It's you!

*cuffs shoulder* What are you doing here? My worlds are colliding.

Not that it matters as I am sure this story has been up for a while and I am just getting to it but:

"Teas stung her eyes" most likely could use an "r" between the a and the s.

Lovely chapter!

I'll see if Sherry can change that for me.

Wow. That was a freak Quidditch accident. Oww. And Aww..about Harry only caring about Ginny at that moment. She should know better. Very good chapter.

'Zelda Grimsley thought her bum was too big and tried to take some of it off. Of course, she ended up lopsided and the Magical Reversal Squad had to sort her out' --
Did Miranda arrange that 'accident'? or was it just coincidence that this spiteful girl was involved? And what happened to the Quidditch game (is it really a 'match' if you only play one game? or is that a Britishism? A tennis match involves a rather lot of games )? I know I'm being a Ron , but I have to know whether Ginny got the cup or not .
Sunday 29th October 2006 09:36The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
No, Ginny didn't get the Cup. And as far as I know - match =game as in one match = one game. There are a series of matches which determine the Quidditch cup each year - and it's not about number of wins, but number of point accumulated. So Gryffindor lost the match and the Cup. Poor Ginny.

Typo: Teas stung her eyes

Amazing chapter from your amazing Luna to impaling GINNY!! How could you do that? (Yeah, I know, that's the sign of a good writer. I'm trying to learn to torture my characters too.)

I loved all the letters from the brothers. Charlie's married to Kathleen, eh? Well. at least she starts with a K. Love you, St. Mags.

Just signed on for the series, and I'm impressed so far. My preference is to usually wait for a few more chapters on multi-chap fics (unless I've read the author's other works before), but given that this came at the recommendation of a few people, I had to check it out. You've done a fantastic job of setting up the storyline quickly, and despite the fact that there's plenty of "backstory", you don't spend a lot of time on it, and it still comes across fairly thorough.

Looking forward to seeing where you go with this storyline. I'm guessing this will be a fluffy, romantic adventure?
Wednesday 27th September 2006 14:06The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
I don't blame you for being impatient. I am, too! The updates should come fairly quickly as I have eight chapters written. Yes, adventure - but lots of fluff first. Part I has 7 chapters culminating in the wedding - and Part I actually sees them depart for NZ. If you want to read the unbeta'd version, all 8 chapters are up at SIYE. Thanks for reading!

This

“I managed to finally remove that wart on my finger,” Luna continued brightly as they walked through the gates. “I don’t like to take potions and I had heard that you can rid yourself of hangnails, moles, or warts if you can pin-point Apparate.”

“Pin-point Appa –”

“Right.” Luna nodded. “You just concentrate on the parts you want to leave behind.”

Ginny shuddered.

“Of course, it doesn’t work as a weight loss method,” Luna continued. “Zelda Grimsley thought her bum was too big and tried to take some of it off. Of course, she ended up lopsided and the Magical Reversal Squad had to sort her out.”

Luna stopped in the path and shook her head. “I would think a bum that was whole and big would look better than a bum deformed and small.”

Killed me. You write Luna so well! Fantastic work, once again, St. M's!

I'm so glad you liked Luna. She's one of my favorite characters and I'm so excited to see the movie stills of her for OotP! For once the actor is how I imagined the character. More Luna to come in this story! Thanks for reading!

“Is that a trick question?” Harry's sense of humour here was perfect. As well as the Days Of Destiny's mention that I remember from your Red is the Heart (isn't it?)
Thanks , you know I love your stories.

I'm glad you like this one! I didn't know how many people would be interested in a married H/G story - but I was interested, so I've been writing it! Harry has a great sense of humor (you don't have to call me sir) and now that Voldy is gone, I'm sure he's got more of one. Thanks for reading!

Ohh! That last image of the little boy made me giggle so hard! I wanted to go buy him a lolly-pop!... Although, him being an imaginary fictional character, I'm not sure how that'd work. But that was a great chapter! Quite odd. Hhmm. Was that a "freak accident" as she says, or... *exaggerated wink* something else??*sigh* Guess I'll have to wait to find out! I really love the relationship between Harry and Ginny, and between Ginny and Luna! And Ron's reaction, hahaha! ^^ "It's Ginny, righy?" Heh, that was just so perfect. xD Can't wait for chapter 3!

Ginny is a character that is all about relationships, I think, so I'm glad you liked all those different views of her her. She is close to her family. H/G will have beautiful children! Just not in this story. Thanks for reading!

Loved the Luna - pinpoint apparition?! Fantastic.
Ron sounds like he hasn't changed one bit. Though I'd say he's looking at a rather lonely time when Harry and Ginny disappear if Hermione's still away. Or are we going to culminate with a search and rescue in the Himalayas?
Don't tell me!
Lovely piece of writing with Ginny seeing Harry's eyes, and then identifying her family one by one in the same way as she moved in and out of consciousness. Also appreciated the letters from all the brothers - a suitable way to include the whole Weasley family in the action.
And what an awful accident!!!!! Urgh!
Friday 22nd September 2006 06:47The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
I won't tell you! LOL. I am writing Ron's story set during the year H/G are in NZ. If I had any skill at all, I'd be able to weave their stories together. But I don't know how right now. I won't post Ron's story until this one is done.

I'm glad you liked the letters - it seemed the best way to get all of them in there. (There are so many! Yikes!) Lots more Weasleys in the coming chapters. I really enjoyed exploring some of the family dynamics.

Apparition is important in this story and you'll see why later! Thanks for reading!

Ah, Mary - how I love to read these results of your brilliance! Ginny's elated felling is just so right, the barely-touching-the-ground feeling of being just engaged is just so. Still remember it, even though it's ages ago, I'll never forget it. And then you add Luna to the mix, and what a perfect blend it becomes. She's so wonderfully unique, her no nonsense approach to things most people find being just nonsense, her way of stating things - I loved this one: "I would think a bum that was whole and big would look better than a bum deformed and small." Dear Luna, she IS a gem. I love how you have different stories making up parts of the same whole. Your world is indeed growing, and I love the complexity.

Luna's observance that true friends are happy when you are, is so true. Her understanding of Miranda Smiths behaviour is just perfect. Wise beyond her years. She does provide a wonderful way to add some words about the important things in life without becoming pompous, doesn't she?

The Quidditch accident was awful, I really felt the Cleansweep attacking. Ouch. That's the way it goes, I guess, when your head is in the clouds. Being happy is nice, being so happy you're unable to detach from the giddiness and keep a watchful eye on things when you need to do just that is not so good. It was a hard way to discover it, though. And the rumours - thank goodness Ginny manages to be detatched and just laugh of it. No kids for a year is OK, nice to have each other alone for a while. I do remember...

Wonderful story, just like I expected, and I'm doing my best not to worry about Hermione. She'll manage, right?

Thanks for sharing, Darling!

Big hugs, Berte

Believe it or not, I wrote Hermione's story about going to H/G's wedding first. It's here at PS and it's called "That Which is Constant." So I didn't think there would be too much suspense about that aspect of the story. LOL. I don't know if I told you that I'm also writing Ron's story that is set during the year H/G are in NZ. All of this started with that story. LOL. I'm building my universe one chapter at a time!

I do love Luna and her friendship with Ginny. It's been fun to think about what she provides for Ginny that no one else can. You'll see more of her in the story, I promise! Sherry's outtake of what Harry does after he becomes engaged is adorable. You'll have to check it out! Thanks for reading!

I love this chapter. You move the story along so well.

One of my favorite parts is when Ginny wants Harry to talk to her while she is falling asleep.

"Ginny thought of his sketchy letters and all of the topics they hadn’t discussed since getting engaged. “What exactly did Ron say when you told him?”

Harry raised his eyebrows, but answered. “He said, ‘Married? Cool.’ Then he was quiet for a minute and he said, ‘It’s Ginny – right?’”

There was a similar reaction from my grandson when his sister called to tell him that she was being married."Who are you getting married to?" This after a six year relationship. True life mirrors fan fic.

I was afraid the Ron-lovers would think I was putting Ron down with that line -but I actually stole that from my uncle when my parents got engaged. LOL. I guess it is a logical, yet obvious question! Thanks for reading - again!

Oh my gosh, talk about freak accidents. That must've been disgusting. Poor Ginny and Harry their life is already filled with strife. I loved how Ginny predicted what the newspapers were saying, I thought the same thing. Brilliant job. I really loved it!
