love this story (and it's predecessor) A bit of Brit-picking...
I've been in loads of swimming pools. Some of them are better than others (I once swam in one that was heated).
Nearly all pools in England are heated, so if she'd swam in loads, most, not just one, would have been heated. (I'm English)

As I said I loved the first story. Very emotional. The ONLY thing that REALLY didn't ring true was their first reaction after they held hands the first time. I'm sure they'd have been really scared at first even if only for a minute or two.

You're right, of course, about the pools. Someone else had pointed that out to me, but I had not yet fixed it. Now I have. Thanks for the reminder!

The thing about that first meeting is that they were designed to be that way. I suppose they might have been frightened for a moment, but there were so many other things going on that they never got the chance.

Interesting bit with the alarm. But we never did find out what caused it. I was wondering if it were one of the twin's pranks, but didn't seem to know anything about it.
Nice peace-making with Percy.

I think, about all I really have to say is poor Harry and Ginny. Ginny even more so than Harry. Having to wear those PJs. Clearly her mother has decided she's guilty till proven innocent. Things keep going like this, and Harry and Ginny might make good on Arthur's insinuation from book one that they can run away at anytime and never be found.

Yes, they might, but they might not... Ginny really does love her family. Thanks!

Oooh dear. Why are the pyjamas going off, I wonder? This seems like a bad sign to me. Could it, perhaps, be because she's not wearing them at Hogwarts anymore? I love this story, and I hope you'll continue it soon!

I'm so curious about this chapter and it's happenings. What I liked the best was simply the fact that there was a bit of excitement! The parts with Ginny and Percy were kind of special. I like seeing their relationship growing, even if it's just small steps. The twins were great, as usual, as they provided some much needed entertainment. I love the way you write them. Aside from Harry and Ginny, I think they're my favorite!

The trip to Diagon Alley should be fun but I'm looking forward to the next school year the most. Hogwarts has so many more opportunities for story telling and deep magical plots. Keep up the good work!

I'm looking forward to the school year, too, but I'm also enjoying the summer. They're very different, as you say. Thanks!

Oh Dobby, what have you done? So is Harry going to have to spend the rest of the summer with the Dursley's? I hope not but I have a feeling that he will. Great chapter I really enjoyed it. I also liked Percy as a feeling git instead of just a git. It made him seem a little bit more real. Well done.

Yeah, Percy's a real person, even if he's not a very good person. Thanks!

Very nicely done. I'm a little sad with Molly continuing to be the villian I hope Harry gets a chance to do something to endear himself to her soon. But, I suspect that won't happen for a while.

I'm liking pajama-gate. I figured it was something the twins had caused at first, and they still seem like the most guilty party, but now Percy is raising suspicion. I like it, better have bun-bun guard the pajamas at all times.

Pajama-gate. I like that.

If we gave Bun-bun a switchblade, I'm sure he'd do a great job guarding the PJs. Maybe I'll do an out-take.

Hello, I've recently noticed this series, reading both parts (book one and the so-far section of book two)...I must say, of all the different AU's of HP I've read, this one is a very interesting idea, and so far is a very well executed story, and an enjoyable read.

I look forward to seeing what comes next, and frankly, I suspect the twins of doing something to her pajamas (but then, -anything- suspicious in the HPverse is either a plot of Riddle, or the Twin Terrors ^_^)

You could have a lot of fun with that theory . . . if there's a lot of mist, is it because Tom's enabling the Dementors to breed, or is it because Fred and George really went overboard with an experimental swamp?

Thanks for reading!

Oh, PS - I think the reason for the reactive PJs is that Ginny and Harry are growing closer together plus Ginny is entering puberty. The PJs were originally set for a child Ginny who was not as close to Harry as she is now. Perhaps the charm on the PJs see that Ginny is not the same person and so assume that the "other" Ginny did not wear the PJs.

That's a pretty popular theory. Insightful, too. Thanks for reading!

Geesh! Someone really needs to slap some sense into Molly. Hard. I understand that she is concerned but there is no need to be so damned nasty about it! And poor Harry. In cannon, The Weasleys showed him what a caring, loving family is like. In this story, he still doesn't know, and it's entirely Molly's fault. Maybe the hyperactive PJs will be a first step in her letting go a bit. I hope... Can't wait for the next chapter. =0)

Oh, I think that Harry has some idea what a caring, loving family is like. He's just not seeing it. Thanks for reading!

This is what happens when I have a chance to reread and think things over.

Structurally I can’t find fault with this installment. Another summer chapter with an appropriately languid pace. The chapter’s pace doesn’t drag, rather you allow the reader to reflect that for children the summers are not as hectic as school with studies, sports AND family activities. I think the way you have written this chapter is every bit as descriptive as your sunrise paragraph at the beginning of the book.

This is the second time maths is referred to in two chapters. First Luna, now Hermione. Two very intelligent girls who are “nerds” in their own respective ways. Part of me is wondering about the maths reference though, is there something you are trying to tell us?

On Hermione and Luna eventually meeting… I can imagine them arguing constantly and sometimes very heatedly. The worst arguments I have seen are between people in violent agreement with each other.

Also, Alex and Hermione never discussed things in the opening letters while at school? I know they were busy but sheesh! Or… is this a by product of the singularity? Harry and Ginny don’t have to ask each other about their experiences because they already “know.” Yet another example of how unusual this singularity concept is.

Will Alex write to Neville? Hmm… the world wonders.

Many readers object to your take on Molly Weasley. However, as the father of a teenaged daughter I completely understand her attitude. If Ginny were my daughter I am sure my position would be even more strident! That said I think you do show Molly coming to accept the situation with her daughter. Molly showed considerable restraint with Alex at the pool after the pajama alarm went off. She pauses a moment after Harry returns to the Burrow to wake Ginny from her dream. She is coming around, almost as quickly as Pluto’s orbit! But your whole thread of vignettes over the pajama alarm reminds of the line from a Howard Jones song (Yes, I am THAT old thank you very much!) “You can feel the punishment but you can’t commit the sin.”

I do have a question that is not a spoiler: “Aridus”? My Latin is almost nonexistent and a few on-line translator programs come up blank, so what is the supposed derivation for aridus?

I actually do have a nitpick: is there a typo for the kitchen scene with everyone making sandwiches? “All five young people were quiet…” With everyone in the kitchen shouldn’t that read six? Unless you are counting Alex as One.

“Ginny looked down to find that she had planted her elbow firmly in the butter dish.” Hey, I thought this was a non-canon story!

You have done a marvelous job with the mystery of the wailing pajamas. Just who is responsible for the malfunctioning pajama alarm? What are the PJs trying to communicate? The twins might have been responsible the first time, but certainly not the second; not after their talk with Alex. Some have pointed to Dobby, but how would malfunctioning PJs keep Harry from Hogwarts? We’ll find out soon enough though.

I see Molly as your foil for the whole issue of physical sexuality in this story. This also takes into consideration the "I love you Genevra" from the end of the first book. Harry and Ginny are still 11/10 at the end of this chapter. Hermione was used to broach the subject of physical maturation, but she is two years older that Ginny. So in that light three scenes raised my eyebrows.
First you show Harry brushing out Ginny’s hair. I don’t think he has actually done that before in this story. There are women who consider having a man brush out their long hair mildly erotic (winks at wife!).
Second is their reaction/conversation about a boy liking a girl “in that way” after Percy leaves the table with Penelope’s letter. Ginny does tell Percy “Boys don’t often give flowers to girls out of friendship.”
Third is the large daisy from the flower patch. Okay, Alex liked it and picked it. But Harry put it behind Ginny’s ear.
Molly didn’t see either the hair brushing or the daisy in Ginny’s hair. That is a good thing actually. The last thing the Weasley family needs is a repeat of Christmas.

You continue to show almost everyone being concerned for Ginny, but Harry is sort of like the paint on the wall. He’s there too, but few really notice or care (except Ginny of course).

Maths? Yes, I probably am trying to tell you something, but it may or may not be profound.

You're right about why Alex and Hermione may never have shared such 'mundane' details. There was a LOT going on, and it may simply have never occurred to them to ask such questions.

"Aridus" is Latin for 'dry'. I admit to being lazy and not working too hard to use the verb form rather than the noun.

Yes, there were six 'young people' present. Oops! I suppose my subconscious is firmly entrenched in my own paradigm.

Alright, I admit it. I simply couldn't resist the elbow-in-the-butter dish thing. It was just too easy.

For the 'sexuality' issue, I'll just say that you've made excellent, textually-based points.
