Oh my. Dudders looking at girls? Good chapter. Missing a bit of drama, but I imagine that will come. At least Dudley is starting to defy his parents. Perhaps "defy" is too strong. Manipulate? Not that I recommend such actions to the youngsters reading this.

How about 'work around' his parents? That's resourceful, not manipulative
There's a bit more drama in the next chapter (I hope it's enough)

Thanks for the review!

Sorry, just the ten plus an epilogue, all but the epilogue are already written.

I do have another story floating around in my head, I'm just not sure if it will be a sequel or not, I'm still working the plot through in my head.

I'm really glad you like it. Posting is every other day.

Much, much better! That's more what I was hoping for--lots more dialogue and a bit more acting his age. This story has so much potential to be a lot of fun to read. I am enjoying it quite a lot.

I love how you are having Hestia deal with Dudley! Again, thanks for such a delightful look at how Dudley starts to improve into someone better than his parents.

Thanks!

I'm just glad they sent him away to school. THink of the damage that would have been done if he had lived at home full time!

It seems that Dudders is actually maturing a bit -- fancy that! :-}

Yeah, getting pumpkin juice when one's "mouth is set" for (say) orange juice would be a ... memorable ... experience.

Hestia certainly appears to have had (and survived) prior experiences with not-especially-willing folks. Her technique is admirable. :-)

And Vernon's calming draughts appear to be accomplishing their intended purpose(s).

Well done.

Like I said, put someone in different environments and they will react differently. He's not at home in Privet Drive now and is falling out of the little boy pattern Petunia (inadvertantly, I hope) kept him in.

Hestia's heritage is half muggle half magical, reconciling both sides of the family would have prepared her well. and I couldn't resist doping up Vernon.

This story seems like it will be a good one the muggles ned to chillax a bit Dudley seems like he is taking it better then his parents I thought Petunia would after a while but it doesn't look like it

Petunia has a lifetime of distaste to overcome, and she made her own decision about magic. Dudley learned his and has never really experience it himself. It's easier to say someone else is wrong for him, than for Petunia to admit that she was,

Kudos to Dedalus and Hestia. 3 days painting is good for Dudley\'s fat and soul. After all, he beat Harry up while his parents starve him then made him do house chores! I am still smarting about the fact that the Dursleys are in this story and have been in Canon, treated far better than they deserve!

Thanks for the update! Made my day.

I'm sure Vernon would disagree with that and say they have been treated appalingly, but if there's any hope for Dudley he has to be shown another way.

Woo! I made someone's day!

Dudley's Redemption
Oh, I like how Dudley is finally asserting himself! I had to laugh at his telling Dedilus and Hestia that painting was Harry's job, but really admire him for buckling down and actually doing the work and then thanking Hestia for the paint. As for his decision on whether or not to go back to school, he might not be going for the right reasons, but I'm glad it was his decision and not Petunia's or Vernon's. Also, good for Hestia slipping the calming draft into Vernon's tea, too... serves him right!

Great chapter. I look forward to four.

Bullies only respect other bullies. Hestia is no bully, but she does have power that Dudley has been taught to be scared of and he really doesn't want another tail. Hence the politeness, I figure even as rude as we have always seen him he must know how to be polite having watched it being drummed into Harry.
I thought that girls would be a more realistic reason for Dudley to return to school than a genuine interest in academia, and I needed him to go somewhere unlike Smeltings to give me room for some character growth.

Thanks for the review
