Lol, go fried chicken.
Scott doesn't seem all that different when he's older. Lol, I guess that's the point.

I actually do write Scott a little differently at his separate ages. Kharan is less spastic, less prone to be distracted and ramble off on an unrelated topic, and just generally more calm and in control. He's a little more detached, more rational, and not as quick to violence without at least considering some other options.

Good chapter. It will interesting when Kharan "meets" some Death Eaters.

I doubt they'll be pleased to "meet" him.

Thanks for reviewing, hope to see you again next time.

'"...so compensate by pulling down and forward after you’ve fired..."
Rather than compensate with the second round by pulling down and forward BEFORE you've fired? (And thereby miss the broad side of a barn from 25 yards. Not that I've ever done that of course.)

One thing canon never answered is how far a cast spell can travel. Perhaps as far as a .45, but I'll bet it isn't as far as a 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, or .50 cal round can travel.

Pity Sophie isn't aware Scott seems equally as self-conscious with his 16 year-old form. Anyway, interesting update. What will those wacky Kharan siblings do next?

I do pretty well, but I wouldn't exactly call myself a crack shot. Perhaps that's why the shotgun is usually my weapon of choice.

When fired the energy of a bullet is that of momentum, so it follows the dictates of gravity and the curvature of the earth. In other words, it goes a long ways because it's actually arcing. By contrast in the books spells are odd projectiles. They don't seem to be subject to Newtonian physics, especially since if they're slow enough to be actively dodged (as the books would seem to posit) then they shouldn't have enough speed to travel any significant distance. The only answer I can think of is that they're self powering, in that a bullet is like an artillery shell and a spell is like a rocket. A very slow rocket, anyway. As opposed to a bullet, which eventually falls to the earth if unobstructed, I always imagined that a spell would simply dissipate after a certain traveled distance. Of course, that would then appear to suggest that spells would be less effective at a distance, since more of their power would be expended.

Pity Sophie isn't aware Scott seems equally as self-conscious with his 16 year-old form.

Oh, I wouldn't say as self-conscious. Scott's more worried about the limitations of his teen form than its appearance.

Anyway, interesting update. What will those wacky Kharan siblings do next?

Not even they know.

This is an interesting twist on the story. I hadn't thought of Scott changing his appearance this way. I'm glad Harry took it so well. Ron didn't take it very well but he doesn't have the background of information Harry does. Even though he has only seen guns on Television at least he recognized what it was that Scott was showing them. The loud crack of a pistol would be hard to take the first time. A bad side effect of guns is it does mess with your hearing for a while and long time exposure can damage your hearing. I look forward to more of this story. Ron isn't as adventursome as Harry is. Harry had to get used to the wizarding world after growing up muggle. Ron has only really been exposed to the wizarding world. It is harder for him to adapt. Please write as soon as you can. I am eager for more. p

I wouldn't call it so much changing his appearance as resuming his appearance. His adult form is his natural age, he's long since past the point of being a teenager, which of course only makes the restrictive integration he's undergoing that much more frustrating.

Yes, guns are much louder than most people unfamiliar with them would think they are. It can be quite painful for the uninitiated to fire them, especially without hearing protection (and in the woods, too).

I think Ron can adapt too, it just takes him a little longer. You're right about Harry, though. He's accustomed to rapid changes in his life.

Thank you for reviewing.

Setting us up for the violence to come? **assuming eerie tone of voice** I foresee Ron grabbing a dropped handgun during a fight with Death Eaters and fumbling until he nearly shoots Hermione. **return to my voice** Nah....too predictable.

Looking forward to part 2.

I can't really picture Ron using a gun. Harry, maybe, but Ron? I doubt he'd bother picking it up if he still had a wand at hand.

I appreciate your assumption that I'm not predictable, as unearned as it may be.

Thank you for reviewing. All of my regulars hold a special place in my heart, somewhere deep inside near the really mushy parts.
