A Less-Than-Perfect Love
I just wanted to say that I absolutely LOVE this story so far!

I've had a difficult time finding really good post-DH stories on the net, but this is definitely one of my favorites.

You're a fantastic author who does a great job of portraying Harry's feelings and capturing Ginny's character. I'm also really happy that you didn't rush Harry and Ginny into a marriage, happily-ever-after situation. This is much more realistic and I think, closer to what the canon might have been.

Update soon!!

This was just right!

"...I've been singled out up here and I'm standing alone, being recognized for ending the war, when it's all of you who should be honoured. Every one of you fought to end it." He looked out into the sea of faces. "Whether you were involved in the final battle or just a few of the battles, or only worked behind the scene to preserve what we believe is right, we all deserve the same recognition. Therefore, I accept this Order of Merlin, since I've been told by that same wise person that I have to. But really, I accept it in the name of everyone, especially those who fought valiantly and lost their lives."

A Less-Than-Perfect Love
Hi there! This was yet another wonderful chapter. I really enjoyed reading it. You do such a lovely job of showing specific detail and providing beautiful imagery. I loved this from chapter 13 "That was when it happened. A brief, jolting image of a cottage in Godric’s Hollow, and Ginny, her long red hair flowing behind her, running down the lawn after an excitable little boy with black hair. It was a brief, momentary thought, but it was etched in his mind like a photo, yet it was as if the camera’s flash had left only the outline of an image." There were many other beautiful;y detailed descriptions, such as the pink clouds. I guess what I am trying to say is that I love your writing style. I also really like how this story show's how life isn't completely perfect for Harry and Ginny. It feels very realistic. I mean so many other stories I've read about their life after the final battle go like this "and everyone was sad for about a week, and then Harry and Ginny fall in love again and find that life is perfect without Voldemort and then they get married about a year later and then live forevermore without another problem arising." I mean really, life never goes like that. And relationships are never perfect. So I thank you for making this story so REAL. It truly is close to what I can imagine JK Rowling would write if she were ever to write something about those 19 years. I am very much looking forward to your next chapter (I cant wait to see what happens at Grimauld Place! I hope it comes soon!

Thanks for letting me know what passages stuck out in your mind. I appreciate that so much! It's fun to see what really stuck out to you. Harry has a few more jolting images coming up soon which I hope you'll enjoy! Im glad you commented on how you feel that my portrayal of h and g's relationship is very real and how these events would potentially would fit in with canon post dh. In this world i've created, life post war is very different than both Harry and Ginny expected and they're having to adjust to and cope with it, each in their own way with their own issues. Unfortunately it isn't going to get easier...yet! Thanks again for the quote and comments and I can't wait to see what you think about the next chapter. Cheers! R

Great job! Though you could have had them dance. That would have added a nice dimension.
Can't wait for more! But really, well done!
Cheers!

I know. I really thought hard about whether or not I wanted them to dance at the party...but I just didn't think it would fit in with Harry's outlook and mood during this chapter. It was enough for him to dance with Ginny at the Burrow in front of the Weasley's...and even then he was gunshy. Here he was paranoid about who would notice him with Ginny at the Auror's party, and it felt more natural for me to have him not want to draw attention to her in that way. I agree that if Harry were in a better mindset it would have added a great dimension to the chapter! Unfortunately there are no more 'party' scenes in the story where they could dance again but there will be other nice things for them in the future. Thanks so much for the great comments! Cheers, R

A Less-Than-Perfect Love
This is a good chapter. I like the fact that Ginny let Harry know that she would be there for him. She made it very clear by her words and her actions that she was there for Harry and no one else. She did dance with Ash and she enjoyed the dancing but she was back at the table waiting for him when he returned. She did enjoy Ash's company as a friend of Harry's but there was no doubt she was with Harry alone. She did have a lot of champagne. I think Harry is right to be careful but Ginny really wants to be alone with him. Hopefully it won't go too far. Thanks for writing. I look forward to more of this story. p

Thanks for all of your comments Patches. You always notice the details which I appreciate. Ginny did spend the entire night showing Harry how she was there for him and only him at the party. Of course, her words and actions throughout the party are quite important leading up to the remainder of the night. I'm glad you brought up Ginny's choice to dance and spend time with Ash! Thanks for that. I had Ginny automatically classify Ash as a 'safe' co worker of Harry's since he is someone Harry is friendly with, trusts and speaks highly of. I'm glad you are looking forward to more of this story. Thank you! Best, R

Think you meant the Auror class of 1998, not 2000. Really enjoyed this chapter. Well done.
Monday 3rd January 2011 18:37A Less-Than-Perfect Love (Author Response)
I did mean 2000....perhaps referring to the 'class of "future year of graduation/completion'" is an American concept? I'll have to research as to whether other cultures refer to the 'class of' followed by future year of graduation or 'class of' followed by year of beginning a course of study. I merely put 2000 because I thought it possible for Harry to complete training in 2000.. so therefore they would be the class of 2000. In my mind it would take roughly two or so years to make it though the Auror's course of study...but he did begin training in 1998... so I suppose it could be either. Ah well! Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thank you! - R
