These Cuts I Have
Great chapter!

I was surprised to see Kreacher, in part because I don't think I really considered what happened to him. I'm actually glad that he's with Andromeda and Teddy. They're less alone, and they're protected.

Glad the Dursleys got their what-for.

I actually like Susan Bones, but I can see her being a bit hard, when you mention it. I mean, most of her family ended up dead because of Voldie in the first war, then at least her aunt in the second, so I imagine she hardened as she got older. So I can believe your interpretation.

I liked the description of Harry's first outing as an Auror. That was too funny that he ended up with Dawlish. Life is never easy, is it? Especially Harry's. I also liked that it was rather mundane, which made it more realistic. That scene with Teddy was cute! Just the right mixture of sweetness and angst.
I'm actually surprised at the Weasley boys, though. I was sure that their retribution on the Dursleys would be a bit more...how can we say...violent rather than subtle. Gred and Forge have never been known for being subtle, then again, Arthur was riding herd. I like the idea of the painting, but it's just not enough. The Dursleys could just move and be done with it. Of course, when dealing with people like this, I find the best revenge is simply living well and leaving the balance to God to deal with... He usually deals with it better than I ever could.

Do you really think Petunia would ever move and risk the possibility of someone else discovering her secret? She's spent her entire life fearing someone will find out about Lily, then Harry. I think just knowing its there will be enough to torment her forever. She'll "hear" it every time she walks past, whether real or in her head, and I think she'll be get herself so worked up about it, its bound to cause Vernon tension, as well. That's how I saw it, anyway!

I'm glad you find it believable, anyway. I definitely have a problem with the character, and frequently threaten to kill her off, lol.

These Cuts I Have
Another terrific chapter, Melinda! I'm not sure which I liked best; the raid sequence or the Weasleys' confrontation with the Dursleys. I like the raid because you've captured the learning curve so well. There's always someone in a group of learners who won't follow directions for whatever reason and while Susan's mistake didn't jeopardize the mission, it certainly could have either endangered the Aurors or alerted the suspect that someone was present. I had to smile when Harry's observation of the potion residue earned him a nod of approval.

The portrait of Harry in the cupboard is brilliant! The fact that Petunia will never be able to get that picture of Harry off her cupboard wall is such sweet revenge! It's non-violent and unobtrusive, but like Hermione predicted, she's never going to be comfortable walking past that door ever again. It's something Edgar Allan Poe would have done in one of his stories.

All in all, this chapter gets for the lessons learned.

Thanks, Arnel!!Poe you think?? That's some compliment! I'm glad you approved. I went back and forth a lot over how to treat the Dursleys, but I think this will haunt Petunia. Vernon will try and cover it up, but she'll know it's there, and I can bet psychologically it will haunt her. They'll never move, either, because she'd be horrified to think someone else would discover it!

I hardly review chapters but please know that I love them all the same. This one is no exception!
I like how you move the story forward. Where are you going with this "summer cold"? We both know that a Pepper-Up Potion won't do it. ;-)

As always great work!

Thanks for taking the time to review! I'm glad you're enjoying it. As for Harry's cold...it does seem to be lingering, doesn't it?
