Is it a kind of dream,
Floating out on the tide,
Following the river of death downstream?
Oh, is it a dream?
Harry stood beside her grave, a tear running down his cheek. He couldn't believe that she was gone. They had been through so much together, and her life was snatched from her. She had died protecting him; the uttered spell and green light had been meant for him and she took them so that he could defeat Voldemort.
Others had been with him, supporting him, crying with him, but he had told them all that he wanted to be alone. He hoped that she had known how much she had meant to him. He had tried to show her, tried to tell her, but he didn't know for sure. He thinks she knew, but now he couldn't ask her. He could only hope.
There's a fog along the horizon,
A strange glow in the sky.
And nobody seems to know where you go.
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?
He looked up at the sky. It had been raining earlier and then the sun had come out. It was weird, but now there was a rainbow in the sky. Maybe she was giving him a sign that she was okay and that she wanted him to be okay too. No matter the circumstances, she had always been able to cheer him up. And now she was gone forever.
Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.
One thing he would always remember about her was her eyes. Those beautiful eyes, which expressed more than words ever could. When she looked at him, he knew exactly what she was thinking without her saying a word. No one else had eyes like she did.
He remembered the day they met; it was one that he would never forget. Her beauty had stunned him, as did her beautiful eyes. He had never really had a friend before, and she was one of his first. He thought about all the special times that they had had together. No matter what had happened, she didn't fail him even though she was angry at him.
Is it a kind of shadow,
Reaching into the night,
Wandering over the hills unseen?
Or is it a dream?
He sighed audibly...life wasn't going to be the same without her. He almost couldn't forgive himself for not defending her. She shouldn't have died. That Killing Curse was meant for him. But he knew that she had done it because she loved him. Dumbledore had been right. Love was the most powerful of magic.
The tears were coming more freely now. He knew that he should get going, but he couldn't tear himself away. He couldn't leave her. He couldn't stand to abandon her. She had given him so much over the years and she had just given her life for him. How could he leave?
There's a high wind in the trees,
A cold sound in the air.
And nobody ever knows when you go.
And where do you start,
Oh, into the dark?
The wind started picking up again and the clouds covered the sun. The rainbow disappeared and the air grew cooler. Harry pulled his cloak around him against the wind as his tears mingled with the raindrops now falling.
"I hope you know how much you meant to me," he said softly. "I can't bear to think that you died without knowing how much I cared about you and loved you."
He stooped and laid a single flower on top of her grave, knowing that he would need to leave if he didn't want to get caught in the rain.
Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.
"I will come back and see you again tomorrow. Your eyes will forever burn in my heart," he said, then felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Ginny standing beside him.
"Goodbye, Hedwig," she said, with tears in her eyes. "We'll miss you."

I want to thank my friend James because his fanfic Harry Potter and the Mind Mage gave me inspiration for this story, as well as a web page where someone had this song dedicated to their cat who had died.
I would also like to thank Arnel for her wonderful beta job and for her advice.
