I just realized that we didn't really have a specific, always-findable spot to talk about artwork, so I made one! smile.gif

Ask questions, make suggestions -- whatever you'd like!!

Thanks, Sherylyn!

I was wondering if any of you more experienced artists had tips on scanning your drawings? When I scan mine, they're either too faint or the scanner automatically ajusts it until it's far too dark and every little smudge is picked up. My poor Luna looks as if Peeves has attacked her with charcoal.

no help on the scanner issue (hopefully in all this time someone has helped dancinginmagic!) but one popped into my head as I was browsing around to get a glimmer of what I've missed in my long absence...

I have been creating HP artwork, but not drawings. I work in other media (crochet, polymer clay, etc). I was active on the HarryPotterCrafts yahoo list for a while before my second pregnancy and fourth move forced me to only focus on "local activities" so to speak and there are some fantastic HP artisans out there, from costumers to accessory makers and such. I myself made a Time Turner that I produced a tutorial so others could replicate (I *think* the tutorial is up on TLC but all I can find right now is the image of the finished product - the sand actually moves from one chamber to the other, the inner circle rotates on a horizontal axis and the whole pendant rotates on a vertical axis so it's rather fun to sit and play with tho it is admittedly way too big)

Found a few other of my creations while I was looking for that (there are more, I also have a pensieve I've made for myself and several items I made as swaps that I took pictures of before sending)

Here's a pic of my firstborn dressed as Baby Harry for the HBP release (I made the sweater - it's freehand crochet): Baby Harry - the thread is red with golden metallic threads wound through and the shoulders have lion-head buttons.

Another pic, with first son, me and my hubby in costume - the character my husband dressed in was invariably killed in the book that was released that midnight... I'd tried to convince him to dress as Sirius for OOTP (he refused), here he's dressed as Dumbledore right before HBP, and he dressed as Lupin for DH (I dressed as Tonks and our 2nd son came with us as "Dumbledore Reborn")

Here's a link to a shrunken Mirror of Erised pendant I made for myself (if I were to look into the real Mirror of Erised, I think I'd see myself being closely followed by a very proficient personal assistant...)

Just wondered if it was possible to share anything like that in Plumage. I'm planning to put all the pictures of my own stuff up on my own HP persona website (astartesfire.com) but since most of the stuff on there just links to stuff on here at the moment, it occured to me to check. I'm also working with a friend of mine on making myself a Rowena Ravenclaw costume (I'm not *a* Ravenclaw, I'm *the* Ravenclaw, you see wink.gif ), complete with Diadem, and would love to be able to share. I can capture better/more artistic photographs of some of these items than what is currently online - these were generally just quick snaps to share over the email list what I was up to when they came up. Or I'll just share them here in this post and on TLC as they, and on my own website and have that as the end of it but just had the brainwave to ask.
