We know that Jo's given us fantastic, strong and fascinating characters that we like to borrow and create our stories with. What you may not know, is that the main characters fall pretty much in line with the personality traits traditional to their star sign. I know one author in particular has used this to get a handle on Charlie Weasley and I think it's a useful, fun way to keep good characterisation in our FanFictions. Feel free to add your own!

Harry Potter - Leo

Generous and warmhearted
Creative and enthusiastic
Broad-minded and expansive
Faithful and loving

Pompous and patronizing
Bossy and interfering
Dogmatic and intolerant

Ron Weasley - Pisces

Imaginative and sensitive
Compassionate and kind
Selfless and unworldly
Intuitive and sympathetic

Escapist and idealistic
Secretive and vague
Weak-willed and easily led

Hermione Granger - Virgo

Modest and shy
Meticulous and reliable
Practical and diligent
Intelligent and analytical

Fussy and a worrier
Overcritical and harsh
Perfectionist and conservative

Ginny Weasley - Leo (Look up!)
Bring and Fly

Hmm... Katie. I wonder who that could be? thumbsup.gif blush.gif

I must confess that I have used this kind of thing as a spring board to get inside the lesser known characters head because it gives you a starting point for them, IMHO. A lot of the characters are well fleshed out by JKR and all you have to do is read the books to get a handle on many of their charcters to have an idea of what they would say or do under many circumstances. Any of the trio for example. Harry is no problem since everything we see is from his point of view anyway.

I'm not saying that everyone corresponds to their birth sign exactly -I don't for instance. I'm supposed to have an insatiable wanderlust and urge to travel.

Yeah, right. I'm car sick, for cryin' out loud!

But I do think it's useful for ideas. Anyone else found that, or used it advantageously?

And Arthur Weasley's an aquarian. When I found that out, I just went "Duh, of course he's an Aquarian male." Quirky, creative, open-minded, inquisitive, eccentric . . .
