Full Version: Lasting effects of a HP addiction

Firstly, if this is in the wrong place, you can move this thread.

Okay. Into the topic.

What are the lasting effects of your minor to major Harry Potter Addiction.

Any effects will not be laughed at too hard. In fact, most of us would be laughing at ourselves.

My ultimate HPA symptom was seeing the word 'Charlie' in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and always thinking it was Charlie Weasley.

I also see characters everywere. Do you think it will disappear after a while, Docs?

We have a customer account under the name of Mrs L. Potter at the store I work at, and each time I serve her I have to stop myself from asking if her first name is Lily! (Partly because I'd be disappointed if it turns out to be any other name starting with L!)

I always laugh when I hear someone mention Harry Potter because everything they say is so ridiculous, and I can't seem like a larger nerd than I already am by knowing too much - see, I'm a bit of a closet case HP addict. Not even my PARENTS know how much I...well...obsess. Hehe...

I would just like to say that the HP bug bit me. Hard.

One of the reporters for the channel 10 news (or is it channel nine?) always signs off "...Harry Potter,..." I swear that's his real name. So every night my neck gets a couple of creaks because of how fast I whip my head around at those two 5+6 letter words. It's right painful sometimes. I turn so quickly to see if it's a article about the Harry Potter movies or Books. (Note: 'books' is capitals, 'movies' isn't. I don't think they deserve capital status because of the HUGE blunder they made in the 4th film. The tomb sone one...)

Gone on long enough

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I named my cat Crookshanks and get a secret smile when people try to figure were I got the name from.

Lady Padfoot
laugh.gif My friend did that. I plan to name my next dogs Moony and Padfoot. A black Dane and a brown Husky of course. smile.gif

First of all, I work on my mom's Christmas list for her every year, and get jealous when I see that she knows someone with the last name "Potter" and other people with the last name "Granger"

Then, I'm reading Jane Eyre in English class, and can't help but notice that Jane had a similar home life to Harry. She lives with her aunt who despises her, and her cousins, who her aunt allows to bully her. Eventually, Jane leaves home to go to school. I pointed this out to a friend in English class who gave me this look: o.O

Hahaha! I this thread! HPBB thread.

HP is one of the 'school course' books I had to read in year 8. That knocked me off for a couple of years. I only got back into it at HBP. Speaking of which, When's the REAL book coming out?

What do you mean "REAL book"? The seventh? HPB is a real book... Now you've confused me...

I think she ment the fact that HBP dosen't sound like anything JKR has come up with.

"Snogging" WTH? Maybe someone kidnapped JKR and forced her to use her name on their fanfic? Wish they'd asked me to help...

Hope it helps.

I was writing a fic that has absolutely nothing to do with Harry Potter (it's Sailor Moon, in fact). I had my two main characters arguing. The female one said to the male one: "If I'm a baboon, you're a baboon's backside."

I didn't think anything of it at the time until an astute reviewer commented that it reminded her of Ron and Luna.

banghead.gif I swear, Harry Potter infiltrates every aspect of my life.

I recently met a kid at school who looks just like the guy who plays Seamus in the movies. So now we call him Seamus. He says his friends call him Harry, but I have no idea why. Seamus looks nothing like Harry!

A few of my friends have started a group at school. I was drawing one lunchtime and I ended up drawing the Dark Mark on my arm. Now the whole of the five of us walk around school with Dark Marks on our arms, dark make-up and strutting like Slytherins.

Our nick-names/code names: bellatrix, Narcissa, Cho (gone evil), Underling (soon to be initiated and renamed evilgrin.gif mwahaha.gif ) and Seamus.

At my old school my band director used to call me Hermione, for sevral reasons
1. He thought I looked like her
2. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter
3. On the first day of band camp I corrected his grammar, which is something Hermione would do...

At my new school whenever anyone mentions Harry Potter I grin like mad because it reminds of home and how I was the one who had forced everyone out of the HP-closet.

I saw Percy Weasley (or at least someone who looked like him) at Borders once! I really wished I had had my camera with me.

I'm from the US, and whenever I reread the series all of my thoughts are in a British accent for weeks...

My friends tell me that I'm the only person they know who can say snog without it sounding out of place rolleyes.gif

We went on holiday to Greece last year and VERY unfortunately our plane left 2 HOURS blink.gif before HBP's release in the UK *cries* So whats did I do? I took OOTP with me, read it 3 times ina week (including by the pool..lol I got some really weird looks) and then bought the book straight away at the airport! laugh.gif

I also have a bad habit of relating every single quote I hear/subject to Harry Potter

This girl in my biology class once asked, when we were studying diabetes/insulin/hormones...'Even if you don't have diabetes but lack sugar in your blood and faint, does eating chocolate help'? rolleyes.gif
