While we recognize that many people share files of favorite stories in an honest effort to help others enjoy those works, we do feel that PhoenixSong should not support these efforts. We have had several authors who've been plagiarized elsewhere in the fandom, and we have done all we can to help them right these wrongs. In a sense, sharing the files of authors' works without their permission is somewhat related to the same concept: the authors' right to determine how and where their works are made available. While obviously we cannot "police" what people share via private email, etc., we would like to request that all such future "sharing" not be done in the public forums or email groups related to PhoenixSong.net. Because of this, any future forum posts in which files are offered/requested will be deleted, and repeated offenders will be subject to disciplinary actions.

Again, we understand that the motivation for these offers is not malicious in any way, but we feel that it is in the best interest of authors throughout the Harry Potter fandom that we take this stand. We hope that our members will understand and comply with this policy.
