In retrospect, I can see where things might have been confusing. I'm glad you figured it out. Do you think I should change that section to make things clearer?

Why was Wormtail waiting to tell Voldemort that he was the secret keeper instead of telling V when he asked?

Sorry, I think that came out wrong. I didn't mean to make it sound like Hermione's parents were deliberately punishing her. I only meant it as a kind of figure of speech, that in their acting out their grief it was like a punishment to Hermione. I think the line 'The tears flowed freely; she was tired of pretending to be grown up.' conveys very well what her parents had inadvertently done to her. I actually think this is a very good account of why Hermione is the pushy know-it-all that she is at least early on in canon .

Thank you. There's no need to apologize. It's good to know that my reasoning, to explain in part Hermione's character, came across clearly in this chapter.

So sad for Hermione I can understand her parents grief, but why punish her for the loss.

Thank you for reviewing. They weren't trying to punish Hermione. She's such an undemanding child, that in their grief, they failed to realize that she was hurting.

Thanks for reviewing. I'm glad you are enjoting the story.

I hadn't noticed, but it seems like I've switched back and forth, from one chapter to another. Mrs. Creevey's surname is, in fact, Carla. Thanks for pointing it out. I will get the problem fixed asap. In the mean time, please try to ignore it as best you can.

For someone so cross and disagreeable, Augusta was a relatively easy pushoever with Hermione . I guess Hermione is just too brilliant .
'all Muggles didn't like magic or wouldn't want to be magic and that's why they weren't witches or wizards' -- very interesting philosophy, might not be JKR but might just be right .

Pushover? Not at all; she's just afraid...very afraid...

As for Hermione's conclusion, it's an interesting take on things, if a little over-simplistic...

Heather Potter ... cute name. This was great, we got lots of information, and the story's moving along at a very nice rate. Hermione's gorgeous - "Almost as important as where babies come from ..." - so cute! I don't know why adults have so much trouble with that question, just tell them the truth!

Thank you. I had a difficult time choosing a name for the newest Potter. I'm glad you're enjoying the pace, it shouldn't be letting up much in the coming chapters. Hermione is certainly fun to write. I shall be sad to let her go...

As for why parents have a difficult time with that question, I can only guess but a lot of it is probably due to the stigma that has surrounded the topic of reproduction and sexuality for ages. To top it off, it's diffiuclt to know how much is appropriate to explain to a child as young as they usually are when they ask. Where Hermione's parents are concerned, I assure you they spared her no details...

Thank for your review,

That was great! Longer is definately good, you know. And now I see what you meant about the boys telling someone who was important =)
Nice touch there with Hermione-the-five-year-old. I knew who it was straight away, and i got so excited! But what's Lily going to think...

Thank you! I know longer is good, but I have difficulty pulling it off and actually updating semi-regularly so don't get too used to the idea. My response to your last review was intentionally cryptic.

Perhaps the proper question is what will Augusta think...

It's a clever idea bringing Hermione in the way you did. I did feel that she sounded a little bit too grown up for 5 years old, even for her. But overall it was a fun read. Can't wait for 25!

Bringing Hermione in like that was something that has been planned for quite a while. I'm sorry to hear that she seemed a little too grown up to believable but I do have my reasons. All will be revealed...

Well written chapter. I'm glad to see that things are starting to move along a little bit more. All the chapters about the boys' fourth year were fun to read and contained some lovely moments, but it did start to feel a little bit belabored. I look forward to reading the next chapter and finding out how exactly they broke lily's and Augusta's rules!

One other quick comment. I don't know if anyone else has already mentioned this, but it seems like the main character in this story is not Neville, as the title would suggest, but Lilly. Telling the story from her perspective is certainly an effective tool, but I would have expected the story to be written more from Neville's viewpoint instead.

Thank you! I was beginning to feel the same which is why I jumped from New Years to Mother's Day to September...

I hadn't noticed that that Lily was taking such a focal role in the story. Writing the story from the point of view of a 4-5 year-old is not an easy task, and one I would not feel comfortable attempting, which is why I adopted a more neutral POV.

On a related note, Lily won't be getting much attention in the next 4 chapters at least, well not really... Another witch will be getting far more attention

I just started reading your story and I have to say this was a lovely chapter. The remembrances of Alice and Frank an dinvolving Neville in the ceremony wee a nice touch. I am enjoying reading your account of what might have been had Voldemort chosen Neville.

teehee. Aw, that's cute, if kinda icky - greasy bread for breakfast. Only a mother could love them ... and luckily Lily does.

Keep the chapters coming. I know it's hard work, but we love them!
