I take it someone (you, or otherwise) convinced someone (not saying who...) to put in the note about rock music. Maybe?? *smiles*

I really love this part... especially the authenticity of the beach setting. I grew up in Florida and have spent a lot of time in the Bahamas, and it was really nice to read a description from someone who's clearly spent time AT a tropical beach - who knows the pros and the cons! (I HATE the feel of sand sticking to you, LOL! And as soon as it was suggested that Harry go bodysurfing, I wondered if he'd get all rolled up in a wave - it's happened to me, and wasn't very fun) I'm curious if you have a particular island in mind?

I like your Aberforth much better than the canon one, and the idea that Sirius spent some time there. This is a nice break from Grimmauld Place for both Harry and the reader. :-)

What a fun chapter! I absolutely love your Aberforth- he's so quirky, just like Albus, but much more laid back.

Finally
Some peace and relaxation . I'm so glad you're finally being kind to poor Harry. You've been way to hard on him.
I like Abe alot too.

Interesting chapter

Abe grinned. “Try again.”
“You work at the Hog’s Head,” he blurted.

“Right in one. I keep an eye on things for Al during the school year. You’d be surprised how much people reveal if you slip ‘em a pint or two,” he said, grinning. “What can I get you, lad?”

Harry glanced at the fully stocked bar. “Firewhiskey?”

“I’m almost seventeen, just a few more weeks,” he reasoned.

“Then ask me again in a few more weeks.

Okay, this was such a funny scene. I loved it! I like Abe. He's really kewl. Some people write him differently. I've loved how you introduced him here. Great job!

Oo some revelations there! I liked how Sirius was there before, thats another gap that you've filled in for us! Poor Haryy really is clueless about a lot of normal stuff isnt he? It all fits well though. Great chapter!

Finnaly. Something positive. I'm getting tired of all the death, nightmares, and general negative things that have been happening. I want to see some retaliation, learning, training, something. Mabey it will happen now.

When does the training start for the others?

I'm also curious at the lack of interaction between Harry and Ginny.  It almost seems like you are setting them up to break up.  There is none of the tightness that you have had previously, even with Harry finally telling her he loved her.

The idea of a trip to the beach is really good.  I hope you are not going to ruin the rest of the summer with anoter attack.

Harry Potter and the Curse of the Damned

I needed a break from my crazy schedule and decided to take a vacation with Harry. Lovely chapter. Poor Harry. His past just trips him up so often because the Weasleys and Hermione don't understand what it was like for him. I mean, they think they do, but they don't *really*.

Really liked the image of Sirius spending time there with Aberforth as well. Nice to imagine!

Ever been to Mikanos?  If not, you seemed to describe it to a T!  Even needing to take a boat to 'Paradise'.

Harry Potter and the Curse of the Damned

Finally!....a chapter that doesn't leave me wanting to hex the heck out of the author or the characters on Harry's behalf.  In fact, I'm sitting here feeling all warm and fuzzy inside because he's getting such a needed break and time to recouperate. Even the wave-diving mishap didn't cause too much alarm because of whom he was swimming with; I'm rather looking forward to the swim lesson sessions, too.  I bet he'll be much smarter about learning and applying the sun-block spell the next time he goes to the beach!  Glad that Mrs. Weasley is around to sort things out.

This is a beautifully written chapter and a wonderful one to contemplate in the few minutes before drifting off to sleep.

Well, I'm certainly glad you don't want to hex me!  And everyone needs a Mrs. Weasley-like person to sort them all out.  I'm glad you enjoyed.

Ohhhh! Looking forward to the next chapter!!!!  I can't wait!!! And a drinking scene is allways a pleasant change to a depressing scene. Anyways, amazing work, as usual!!

Hope the new year makes your hopes and dreams come true!

Hello Again!  Another GREAT chapter!  I'm so glad to see Harry having some fun.  I like the exchange between Ron and Harry after he almost drowns.  Another great facet of the wonderful Harry-Ron relationship you have built.  I also love your Alberforth.  He's a fun guy and I think he'll be great for Harry.  Thanks!

If I remember correctly I think I liked drunk Harry so I look forward to that. It was nice not to have Harry bleeding to death in this chapter,  but I know that won't last. I love angst, it's a sickness. Keep up the good work.

I love the angst too, but Harry needs some fun on occasion.  The Weasley boys' night out coming right up.

Loved the chapter!  One of the best so far.  I found myself laughing out laugh and then worried that you were really gonna drown Harry. Being unwell in bed it was wonderful to escape to Abe and Cordelia’s holiday home for a while and I swear that you conjured the scene so well I could almost feel the sand between my toes.  Poor Harry, sunburn and nearly drowning all in one chapter.  Liked the way you had Abe with a library full of CDs.  Methinks he be dyslexic?  Curious to know the story behind the picture of the goat too.  And I liked the way Ginny liked Harry’s bum!  Thanks for your reviews of my fic Book of Ages, much appreciated.  Fiona

Hahaha - yes, I think that Harry would very much like Ginny in a bikini LOL!!! The scenes in the bathroom and on the beach were wonderfully written, so heartwarmingly funny and fluffy whilst still managing to feel right and natural.

When I first read about going to Aberforth I had visions of a little cottage in Wales or Scotland, just above a little pebble beach - this certainly was a lot better (LOL!) and it's probably just what Harry needs right now, along with a sunblock charm - that had me in stitches! Obviously Harry needs to additional education in household spells.

It is a true pleasure to read your story and Fridays just can't come quick enough. Thank you for taking the time and effort for updating so diligently, it is very much appreciated. Also a big thank you for writing  and sharing this wonderful story.

Nope, but he's said that the Dursleys never took him on holiday. He missed out on all the good stuff, so he's got a lot to make up for.

Harry Potter and the Curse of the Damned

This was a nice change of pace, although it's a bit of a wrench to see Harry so clueless about things that his friends from normal, loving families are aware of without conscious thought.  It really brings home the fact that the effects of the Dursleys will show up in unforeseen ways for years to come.

I'll admit that Drunk!Harry isn't some one that I've been hoping for, but maybe the boys need the release.  Or might we see some cracks in their state of denial?

Saturday 8th January 2005 07:57Harry Potter and the Curse of the Damned (Author Response)

Yes, and I think they will.  Harry is very resilient, but I think there has to be some scars.

Sorry you don't like Drunk!Harry, but it's only one scene and I'm rather fond of it.  Much more on the fluff side than anything angsty.

“Yeah, but Fred and George aren’t over there gawking at Ginny.” Well, I should hope not, Ron!

It was rather poignant to me, to see all of the things that kids who grew up in normal homes assumed Harry would know, but he didn't.  Poor boy.

I like Abe--he's pretty cool.

Lol, I love Drunk!Harry and you write him so well! Just as long as he doesn't do anything that would get him in trouble with Ginny, it's all good! Are you going to let the Weasley girl and Hermione have fun as well? Personally I think Drunk!Harry would have nothing on Drunk!Hermione, lol. I really enjoyed this chapter. Poor, awkward Harry worried about his knobby knees! Still, I always find it reassuring that none of the HP main characters are romance novel-gorgeous on top of everything else!

Friday 7th January 2005 22:34Harry Potter and the Curse of the Damned (Author Response)
Well, Hermione and Ginny have a nice time together, I'm sure...but this one is more about the boys' night out.  I agree, though, Drunk!Hermione would be a hoot.

I’ve been reading your work since you were still posting PoE on FF.net, but I’ve never reviewed. I just have to say that I love this so far! Wow, this chapter is just as wonderful as the others, but this one is special in its own right. It's good to see Harry happy again, and thoughts of the beach in January are just wonderful! And as a matter of fact, the description of the room that Ginny and Hermione are staying in that you gave fits perfectly with the summer house that I go to! I had to pick my jaw up on the floor because the coincidinces were just uncanny. . . .

Wonderful chapter! I can´t wait until the next one! :D

Oh, that's funny.  When I wrote this originally, it was still summer, but now...in January...it does make me long for warmer days and sunshine.  Here in the Northeast we had more snow AGAIN yesterday, so summer seems very far away.
