Beautiful writing. Done I think by a person with some experience with life. Kathleen seems like a wonderful person. I am having a good lucky dip day. |

I cried when Iwas reading this story. The great thing about it was it could have been about any family, it didn't apply to just Harry Potter. The hardest thing about it was the idea of Harry falling to a wasting disease like Alzeimers, but you put it beautifully. |

This was beautiful. At the end when she was having her dream I listened to "24" by Jem.^^ |

Very poignant. Really wonderfully written story. My dad doesn't recognise me many times, and I really empathise with what Katheleen must have gone through. Wish we could have many more such stories.

Oh my that was a brilliant story! I am wiping the tears out of my eyes. I think you captured every emotion a caregiver goes through. While it hurt to see Harry reduced to a shell of himself, it is the way of the disease.
Again, it was a great story |
Kelleypen Thursday 24th February 2005 11:42 | The Last Act of Nobility |
This was very touching. It was also disturbing to think of Harry with Alzheimers, but you handled it well. |

Just lost my grandfather Thanksgiving 2004. My grandmother went 18 days later. This fic was so well done. Must .. not .. cry .. at work .. big tough guys don't cry at computers at work ...
aw heck. They can make fun of me if they want to.
This was so beautiful. I have the utmost respect for those selfless people that sacrifice so much to take care of their loved ones. This fic captured that. I have a spot, deep down, that's both happy and sad. Thank you for reminding me of the beauty that comes with age and wisdom. |

Sad, but very nice. You realize I'm going to have to go read something stupidly funny now to balance this out, right?
Great, great story.

Oh my. I read this story and it hit so close to home. My
boyfriend's Grandfather is going through Alzheimer's as well.
What a heartbreaking thing to go through for everyone. Your story
brought tears to my eyes.

I enjoyed your touching story very much. You chose an interesting way to show us the essence of Harry and Ginny and their family, and have carried it off exceptionally well. I hope that we all can know a little of Kathleen's spirit and love of family. Thanks for sharing this with us. |

I'm in tears. Kathleen is so lucky to have spent those last months with her Grandfather; no matter how much time you have, though, you still want just five minutes more. I know this feeling well, having lived three thousand miles from my own grandmothers for nine years before they both passed in 2003...what I wouldn't give for just five more precious minutes with each of them.
This story is beautifully written. The care you took in creating it is truly a monument to your grandparents. |
wokka42 Tuesday 22nd February 2005 23:26 | The Last Act of Nobility |
That was beautiful. For someone like me who had a beloved grandparent and mentor linger for years in the darkness of a stroke before finally passing on, it really struck a chord. Your grandparents would be proud to be remembered so, in a story as touching as this. Well done. |

A truly wonderful story that touches the heart. Having spent some time in an Alzheimer's wign at a nursing home, I can very much attest to what you've written here and the feelings of the characters. Bravo!

Ok, give me a second to compose myslef and whipe away my tears. Where to start... first off, amazing work. The fact that you had Ron and Hermione there too, just made this all the more sad - I just wouldn;t be able to imagine having to say goodbye to someone so close to me for the last time- I hope it doesn't happen anytime soon. I was so overwhelmed with emotions while reading this- it was just so good. I'm still crying actually!! Ohhhhh! Why do you have to write so well?! Harry and Ginny Potter then turned and walked around the lake at Hogwarts one more time. That sent my heart racing a mile a minute- such a bittersweet ending! You are brilliant. And coodles to Magnolia Mama!

Wow. Just...wow. I've pretty much been rendered speechless,
and I've definitely been moved to tears. This is a beautiful testament
to the influence grandparents can have on our lives. Thank you
for the reminder.

This is truly a moving story. Somehow I always imagine that Harry and Ginny once together will be 'life' partners.
This reminds me of my 1st pastor and his wife. He passed away...but only after her Alzhimers had settled in to the point that she couldn't understand he was gone...it was they only way she would have been able to cope without him. Their nobility has marked my life ever since.

I read this while in the validation queue and had to walk away for a
second before I validated it. What a lovely, heart-warming
tale. Having lost both my father and father-in-law recently, the
bitter-sweet feelings of loss for a loved-one are easy to stir. Good job. -Mr.Intel
