Absolutely brilliant!  I just found this story today and can't tear myself away.  You are an amazing writer (I have read several of your other stories) and I hope you continue to write.  It's hard to imagine one of the trio dying, and I had to laugh when I read in your author's note that it was your pen that took you there - I often find the same thing when I write, and, quite often, that's when the best stuff comes out.  This is a brilliant story, so I must stop babbling, and move on to the next chapter.  Bravo!

This story is high on my shortlist of stories that make me sob like a baby, every time I read or reread them. Considering the list includes published books like the last few chapters of Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass, I must say you've well achieved conveying vast amounts of emotion in this story.

To her, they were just beautiful patterns in the sky, full of light and heat and beauty, keeping their watchful eyes trained on Ginny's family.

A lovely little Ginny, not thinking far beyond her family, but caring deeply for them all. Her view of the stars is lovely, childlike, appropriate, and oh so heartbreaking.

Ginny swallows and nods, the movement causing her eyesight to darken as she grows dizzy, and the light in the room begins to fluctuate. She is quite certain she will pass out very shortly. Or perhaps break into a million little pieces.

My throat is tightening - the incredibly strong and varied emotions you're conveying here feel so real and so present. I can feel Harry's heart beating, and Ginny's mixture of desire to look after Harry, wishing just to keep herself together, confusion over how she feels and whether what's happening is right, and if she's supposed to feel like this, and her hoping not to burst into tears.

The nightmare's horrible. It was a good description of the funeral, though, and how Ginny felt throughout it.

This is such a powerful story, and I'm really enjoying it. (Fine, 'enjoy' is the wrong word. Spending my time blinking back tears from the appropriate, accessable angst is a better wording)

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It really means quite a bit to me. I'm so glad you could feel all of their emotions. I agree about the 'enjoy' thing. I love writing it, as well, but it gets a little difficult at times.

Oh, I got a little misty eyed when I finished the Amber Spyglass, too. I love that trilogy.

Review of Chapter 3: Ginny

I just started reading this story, have one more chapter and will post another review after I finish it. This chapter was so poignant... Should have come with a 3 hanky alert. Still haven't forgiven you for killing Ron, though. But brilliantly written just the same.

Thank you so much for the review. I am very sorry about hurting Ron. I've said once Solace is finished, I'll write him something very fluffy (where he will snog Hermione's lips off).
