I loved the story! I liked the alternate ending better than the original ending. I am planning on reading most of your other stories and possibly every single one of them depending on how much spare time I have. Hope you continue writing because I have read two of your stories and both were awesome! Good luck with future works, Kortnee

Most definetly liked the alternate ending better.

I was really shocked that you killed harry in the first ending. But I'm glad that you rewrote it.

Having read both, I can't really pick which one I like better.  Both endings are equally enticing.  Good work all around on this one.

Wow. Well, I have to admit I like this ending better than the previous one, even if the first "A little Piece of You" was a lot more emotional and with powerful writing, I'll admit. But yes, this was definately a lot more happy. When I first read about Harry being blind in one eye, I had to re-read the paragraphto make sure I wasn't making a mistake. I nice touch, definately. Thanks for putting the alternate ending. Otherwise, I think I would have had nightmares of Harry dead....

Great job, your writing is amazing as ever and I'm very impressed.

Well, I'm always a fan of the happy ending.  Both are good but I like the second one best.

I very much liked the second (alternate) ending.  I hate it when Harry Dies, especially when Ginny is so much in love with him.

Which one did I like best? Of course the second one, are you kidding? Ginny conceived Harry's baby and then he DIES on her? Grrrr...

However, as much as I'm ticked about that ending, I do have to applaud you for your genius - I had no idea until a few seconds after reading the last sentence that it was Harry's funeral. I read "...and waited for the funeral to begin," and thought, "who's funeral?" And then my heart stopped. Very strange how attached we get to these characters!

Anyway, you are a fantastic writer and this is a very moving piece. After I went back and re-read the first chapter, I was shocked and amazed that I hadn't picked up on all the hints. I look forward to your next story, but I really hope we don't have any more Harry deaths!

It isn't strange at all.  How could anyone not like Harry?!?  I don't plan on killing him off any more, but you never know when I'm compelled by my muse.  :D

Thanks for the great review.

Both endings were superbly written, but...well...I like happy endings best.  :)

That said, there was quite a lot to like about the original ending.  It was sad, but the angst wasn't overdone.  I just...prefer a happy end. ;)

Me too, to be honest.  I just had to write it out where he was dead.  The muse wouldn't let me do anything else.  Thanks for the review!

Ahhh, yes!  This is more like it.  I do prefer happy endings, and I really want Harry and Ginny to have many, many happy years together (at least 100!).  SO - while the last chapter was bittersweet and sad and wonderfully written, this take was just as wonderful as I want the ending to be.  Voldemort dead, Ginny and Harry together and no hints to anything but OBHWF.  Perfect.  It is a bewitched fairy tale after all, so it needs a magic ending.

I prefer this *grins and nods like a maniac*.

Thanks for sharing!

Amen to long, happy lives.  After what's sure to come in book seven, Harry'll deserve it!

Thanks for the review.

ummm which did i like better?...hmmm...welllllll...actually i thought that both endings were well written and nicely thought out...somehow i think that the original ending is more likely to actually happen but its always nice to see a happy ending...so...they were both well done
Tuesday 9th August 2005 14:01A Little Piece of You (Author Response)
Thank you for letting me know that they both worked for you.  I'd prefer the happy one in canon, but that's just because I want to write more Harry when the last book is done.  :D

the other version was better imo...it's a lot more dramatic.  happy endings aren't always the best endings...haha.  anyway, i enjoyed this version as well.

keep writing!!

Hmm you know?  I really like both endings.  So, I don't know which one to choose.  Must be that I'm on a happy/sad/fluffy/angst mood

This is a great story. for me i do like happy endings. where he does live after getting rid of Tom. the first chapter was ok as well, but i liked the seconed one better.

Happy endings have there place, certainly.  I only hope that it's what ends up happening in book seven!

"I love you.  I've been waiting for over a year to tell you that and I'm really sorry its taken me so long to get around to it."

Only Harry could say something like this.  Apologizing for the fact that he was off fighting Voldermort!

And he didn't end up blind!  Too nice, lovely fluff, and excellent work with the spell.  That will take a bit of explaining back up in the Burrow.

A whole 'nother plot bunny to have Molly being told that her daughter is pregnant.  :o

I admit to enjoying this ending better than the first.  I refuse to believe that Harry must die to end Tom's reign of terror.

Although I enjoyed this piece, I don't find its internal logic convincing.  Molly and Ginny at the Burrow seem in much greater danger than they'd be in wherever the others are.  And the whole idea that Harry and Ginny mustn't bee seen together even at the Burrow is a bit too contrived as well.

The whole breakup that JKR inserts at the end of HBP is a bit of formulaic claptrap, it seems to me.  You've kept to the spirit of her plotline here, butI don't think your heart's really in it.  One can only hope that the characters will assert themselves strongly before Book Seven gets too far along.

Tuesday 9th August 2005 13:56A Little Piece of You (Author Response)
Thank you for your honest opinion, AA.  I suppose greater explaination of the purposes for Molly staying at the Burrow would have helped.  Think of it as how WWII britain was.  The war was 'over there' (save for the bombings) and people generally kept their efforts on supporting the troops abroad.

Harry and Ginny can see each other, they just avoid it because it'll be too painful for them (think of the reason Harry left the funeral).  Yet, you admit that JK didn't do right by it and I don't think she did either (again, as you point out).  I'd much rather have them live happily ever after (as Nothing and Everything Good attempted to 'fix').

This is sort of a hedging of my bets for how Book seven will turn out.  It'll either be Ginny does assert herself, or we don't see her until the end, after Voldiemort's dead.

Either way, thanks for leaving your review.

Harry Potter started as, and should remain, a story for older kids and pre-teens.

Thais is as far to the dark ending it should go.

I really like this - a lot
Tuesday 9th August 2005 13:50A Little Piece of You (Author Response)
I'm flattered, Aaran.  I hope that it doesn't end sad, simply because of my own selfish predilections to be able to write in canon post-hogwarts stories where Harry is alive and married with Ginny.  :D

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww, the alternate ending was much better than the original in my opinion... but I suppose it's just cause I don't like it when Harry dies off. There're both great stories!

Thanks!  I really enjoyed writing both and I'm glad they both appealed to you.
