So. I just finished re-reading Heal the Pain, and now this. You say it's not abandoned, just delayed. How long will this "delay" last? Hm? I'm curious over here. I like this story. I'd be overjoyed if you'd finish it. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssse?????????????????? I'm not too proud to get on my hands and knees and grovel.

Is this story abandoned? I sincerely hope not. Even after DH, many avid fans (including meself) want to read anything and everything Harry Potter. I just read Heal the Pain (it was awesome btw) and now I really really want to know what happens, especially with that tosser, Cipher. Hopefully you still intend to finish We Need Some Light because I absolutely still want to read this incredible story.
Thanks. |

ANOTHER prophecy??? Hasn't Harry had enough?!? I'm glad that Ron is so eager to help Harry figure out what's going on. I hope to see some scenes with Red Knight in action, but I expect since we're mostly in Harry's POV that will only happen if he's there, too.
Harry's agent is a bit un-nerving. I don't know if that's intentional or not, but he's a bit odd. If someone had told Harry when he was 14 that he'd be considering representing a broom (and therefore having his face plastered all over the country), he never would have believed it.
I liked that after all this time, Harry still feels guilty for what he did to Baddock. That is truly Harry Potter.
I'm looking forward to more of this story! It's been a long time since I've actually had to wait for chapters... |
Wooster Monday 6th February 2006 06:36 | We All Need Some Light |
Ah...How could Harry survive without Ron as his best friend? Honestly?
That new Firebolt sounds AWESOME! I want one. I'll do the ads. Really!
I really like his agent. Fun character. |
pandafan81 Wednesday 1st February 2006 00:22 | We All Need Some Light |
Okay, I'm giving you full permission to beat me with a wet noodle. I've read Heal the Pain through and am caught up with this one now and shamefully didn't leave a single review. But I have to say that I've enjoyed them emensely! No doubt I'll be around to catch the new chapters and review accordingly. I really love how you've developed the characters! I love the mix of seriousness with laughter. Speaking of which, I loved the "Dewey, Cheetum, and Howe" line, that was great. You tend to get me in trouble by making me laugh when everyone else has gone to bed (especially when the twins turned Harry into a newt and the response was "he'll get better" I laughed soooo hard at that one!) Anyway, the point of this long rambling comment is that I love your work. I think you're an amazing writer and I hope to see more soon! |
Dizzy Lizzy Wednesday 4th January 2006 22:53 | We All Need Some Light |
Great to have you back. Good set up of the story I love the idea of adding a couple of layers of complexity to the whole plot. Just one typo (that I could see)"
"...I could live with Hermione so long and not pick up something alone the way, do you?"
Looking forward to your next chapter!

Lissa,
Ah, the long-awaited sequel is under way. And I like what I see so far.
Me being (or, at least, having once been) the Quidditch guy, I think
you found a nice way to transition into the story, illustrating the
double life Harry leads. I think that's quite cleaver, and the fact
that the Quidditch is quite well presented both on and off the pitch is
very appealing to the sportswriter in me.
Of course, it's really that prophesy that's got me thinking though.
First of all, kudos for being willing to adapt your environment
somewhat to correspond with new canon. Secondly, you're setting this up
for angst to rival HtP, aren't you?
"Only in turning from them ..."
That bit has me thinking this is going to be one of those
Harry-is-forced-to- pull-away-from-everyone fics, and considering the
bond you've built up between him and Ginny, that would take
considerable trauma. I'm practically grinning at the prospect, sadist
that I am. ;)
Anyway, good job so far.
-KC

Wolf's Scream Friday 23rd December 2005 08:29 | We All Need Some Light |
Interesting story so far, but I was caught off-guard
by "given the media-hungry image he'd worked so hard
to develop..." (referring to Harry). That seemed way
out of character. Then later on, I saw "On the other
hand, he'd never been a fan of seeing his own face in
the media...," which made a lot more sense.
But I'm at a bit of a loss to reconcile those two
excerpts, which I find a bit confusing.
Harry's "dose of Hermione" was well-crafted. :-)
I seem to recall "Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe" elsewhere
-- probably a comic strip. :-} I suspect that it's
rather a classic name....
I'd think Harry would have wanted the Quill put away
before even telling Ron that the (new) prophecy exists.
OK; the reference to "cover story" near the end helps
explain the source of confusion I had mentioned at the
beginning of this note. That, and the "secret agent"
stuff. Right -- makes a bit more sense now.
And yes, Ron is indeed well advised to avoid incurring
obligations on his spouse without her knowledge. :-}

Hi there!
Interesting story so far, but I was caught off-guard by "given the media-hungry image he'd worked so hard to develop..." (referring to Harry). That seemed way out of character. Then later on, I saw "On the other hand, he'd never been a fan of seeing his own face in the media...," which made a lot more sense. But I'm at a bit of a loss to reconcile those two excerpts, which I find a bit confusing.
Have you read chapter 1? That explains all of this. (Of course, it was
also posted in July, so it's easy to forget over five months of
waiting.) This chapter is pretty confusing without having
read that.
I seem to recall "Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe" elsewhere -- probably a comic strip. :-} I suspect that it's rather a classic name....
I got it from a law school exam for which I once proctored, but yes,
undoubtedly it's been used before. Still, I couldn't resist.
I'd think Harry would have wanted the Quill put away before even telling Ron that the (new) prophecy exists.
*Author keeps mouth shut* :D
OK; the reference to "cover story" near the end helps explain the source of confusion I had mentioned at the beginning of this note. That, and the "secret agent" stuff. Right -- makes a bit more sense now.
Ah, okay--you must not have read Heal the Pain, am I right? This story (We All Need Some Light is the sequel to HtP, so if you don't know that one, there will be things you won't understand in this one.
And yes, Ron is indeed well advised to avoid incurring obligations on his spouse without her knowledge. :-}
Hee! I know I'd be ticked. :)
Thanks for reviewing--and for such a thorough review. I appreciate it!

Hee! Actually, I proctor law-school exams three times a year, and one
of the law professors used that as a firm in one of his questions. I
had to adopt it; it was just too good to pass up.
Thanks for the lovely compliments, and for reviewing! (And I can
honestly say that you're the first reader to tell me you got the pun!)
