I just wanted to let you know that I have rec’d your story and posted a link to it in the new HP LJ community hpmssgmoments, or Harry Potter Missing Moments. Your story fits nicely into canon and makes a nice addition to our archives. Please feel free to come over and take a look at what we are doing and your entry (posted under "The Darkest Art"). We are a small group at the moment, but we hope to get your story some new readers and some new reviews as we grow.

I know you probably think I forgot about you after asking for the rec. Life just got busy and I haven't had a chance to read the story yet.

I really enjoyed it. Your description of the snow was very well done and brought me back to a time that I was skiing and the resort got 51 inches in one day. The huge snow flakes falling and were just like you described. The way they floated down and settled in a cool, white muffler over every surface capable of supporting them. I have only seen snow like this twice but your description was perfect.

Don't tell anyone but I am a little bit of a romantic and I think you captured the playful essence of young love that is not yet realized wonderfully. Ginny has a playful spirit and sees Harry as a great friend. Harry is totally captivated by Ginny but trying not to let on because Dean is still in the picture. Been there done that. It reminded me of the time before Julie and I were dating. The seen you painted for the reader reveals all of the emotions that Harry and Ginny are feeling toward each other without the feelings ever being formalized between them or seemingly even to themselves.

Very well done.

Thank you Mags! I'm happy you feel that way, as I tried hard to keep it canon and not let my mind wander off!

Aw! That was just about the sweetest story ever! That ending was utter perfection.

I bet if Dumbledore had seen the snow angels it would have sparked one of the twinkles in his eye he is so famous for!.

"Just because you're the Captain doesn't mean you get to play snow angels while the rest of us practice, you know."

There was a gentle note of something in the way Ginny spoke to him that had Harry's numb mouth lifting in a smile.

That's really good, and I love the end, of course. Very well done!

What a fantastic missing moment. The end just had me smiling like a complete idiot. I loved the fact that Ginny didn't fall all over with an excess of sympathy after the bludger; that would have seemed OOC. And, in fact, everyone was very in character. It's wonderful; one of my new favourites.

Thank you, Wild Magelet. I find it quite a challenge to write 'Missing Moments' and keep everyone within canon, so I'm happy you felt I got Ginny, and the others, about right. *phew*

BaF--this was beautiful.  You know, St. Mags is leading a discussion on the SQ fluff thread right now about using the weather to move a fluff line.  This would be a great example.  You are a brilliant writer--and don't let anyone, especially Cara, tell you differently.

All of that wonderful storytelling from just 2 lines in the book.

I'm a big fan of missing moments and this one is a real doozy. It's filled with such an adorable, clueless male, stuffed with self-denial and a smart girl who tries nothing more than to be a friend.

Just wonderful!

Thank you, Misslara.

I do appreciate you leaving me such a lovely review --and a great summation! I wish I had thought of that when I was trying to write a hook-you-in summary for this piece. And in truth, the story would not have come into being without the encouragement of my Beta.

Wow, for a quick-hit 'missing moment' I think you have provided a great scene for all to either to picture ourselves in or to reminisce about; mine would be the later.  The gurmblings of early morning practices (anyone who has played a sport knows these too well), innocent playful funning around, yet flirtatious at the same time and the inadvertent loss of cool points' when you screw up where everyone can see.  The beginning with the description of the snow and Harry's thoughts drifting with the snow was a great start.

~Nice job!

Thank you, Paladin.

I really enjoy knowing when something I've written resonates with my readers experience --lets me know when I've got it right! Ah yes, the 'inadvertent loss of cool points'. Ahem. Yes indeed; very blush-worthy. :)

This was probably the best snow ficlet i've read!

It described Harry's characters perfectly, used fantastic vocabulary, had a very good grabber at the beggining, and was still realistic, but magical too. It wasn't cliche or too religious in any way. I really enjoyed it.

Fantastic story.  Very well written.  The language is descriptive without going overboard.  Charaterization of Harry, and especially of Ginny, are excellent.  This could have come right out of canon.  It's a perfect missing moment.

I'm glad you enjoyed the piece. I tried to foreshadow the whole 'Dean helping her through the portrait hole' incident in this, based on Hermione's comment about them 'being rocky for some time.' Poor Dean, eh!

I loved the suggestion from Ginny that Harry was getting "up her nose" just like the fine sugar on the mince pies.  It seems that they are both on each other's minds.
Well done

Thank you, Juliet.

Yes, I'm sure it was no coincidence that whenever Ginny speaks to Harry in HBP, Jo uses adverbs like 'brightly'. It made me certain that her assertion, repeated via Hermione, that she had 'given up on him' was an effort to convince herself as much as everyone else.

That was just wonderful. A fabulous Missing Moment. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe you could write a sequal, set during Ginny's sixth year? Harry could pop up and they could make snow angels and suddenly start snogging the living daylights out of each other?

Excellently done. :)

I think that, next to Forever, For Now, this is my favourite thing you've written.  That's saying an awful lot, but this piece was so lovely and fun and in character.  I loved the snow angels, and the whole way that Harry looks at Ginny.  You've got Ginny at her best here, too.

And I loved that you put 'It came upon a Midnight Clear' in as well.  I adore that carol.

Fabulous, Baffy.

Thank you, Monty.

I value your opinion as always, so I'm glad you like Ginny in this one. (canon, you know! ;p) That carol was always going to make an appearance, if only for the phrase 'golden days', which parralled 'several sunlit days' to neatly for me to ignore, and also because I want Harry to unearth some of his buried before-Mum-and Dad-were-murdered memories. *hugs*

Well, the imagery was mine own, but the story would not have been committed to paper, and thence to Word if not for my Beta's comments.

This is an absolutely delightful story.  I've tried for several years to make snow angels with my son who steadfastly tells me that "that's girl stuff"!  The images you conjur of the falling snow are indeed quite poetic and having stood on my back porch watching such flakes come down, it was very easy to see how Harry could become mesmerized by the storm's beauty.  You've done a beautiful job of melding Harry's thoughts of the snow to his yearning for Ginny.  The bit about her angel holding hands with his imprint was a nice touch at the end.

I do enjoy hearing the reaction/ memeories my pieces evoke. I had never even heard of 'snow angels' until my own children went to school and told me about them! I'm happy you enjoyed the ficlet.

Ah, this is such a happy, well-rounded story! Those are kind of odd words to describe it...

I loved how you wrote Harry. I wish you'd do more missing moments. When I read book six, I really felt as though I couldn't get into Harry's head. It's so refreshing to read your version of Harry - still in canon, but a little more thoughtful as well. I don't think many readers do a good job of achieving this - keeping Harry's character in tact, while adding a little more depth than we've found in the books.

Well done!

I'm happy you like my attempts to get into the last Potter's head. More Missing Moments...? I have a couple of Ginny-centric ones, so maybe you'll get your wish. :)

OOOOHHHH! That was adorable! ^^ Ginny's sending Harry subliminal messages. n.n I loved it, especially the ending. But the beginning made me giggle with Harry's fascination with the snow, and blunt observation, as well as his later interest in something else... or should I say: someone? Lol. Great job, it was so cute. xD

Sweet. I loved Harry's train of thought starting with snow falling, turning to the Dursleys and then to Ginny...
And, of course, the ending was wonderful - wasn't it?
