Oh, where can I find my own Chris?! (eh-hem, I would be grateful if you didn't repeat that to my own dear hubby!) Poor Penny, her turmoil at the end of the chapter is bittersweet. After such a lovely evening, how sad that she should feel guilty. But it's very realistic, too. I love all the tiny details you write into your story - it almost feels as though I'm watching this as a movie rather than reading it.

im starting to like this story...it was kind of odd at first, i think it was because at first, Penny just sort of sprang up from nowhere...you didnt develop her much in Defining Moments or Defining the Relationship (at least not up until the latest chapters of Relationship).

but now...it's really interesting...Chris is a nice character you created, and i like this Penny you painted.

however...i thought the POV in this chapter was kind of confusing...at first, it was in Penny's perspective, then it kind of molded together, then i thought it was Chris's, then it was Penny's again...

lol.

in any case, im looking forward to your next update.

I tried. I had thought I kept it entirely in Penny's, but maybe that wasn't clear.

Thanks for your review! I'm glad your enjoying the story!

I really like this sojourn off the beaten path.A tale within a tale. I hung on every word they spoke to one another, you made it so riveting. My opinion, you have another winner!!!

This chapter was brilliant. I was quite impressed with Penny speaking French although I have no idea what she said - read quite well though!
Penny is a true Ravenclaw though, and will probably think just a little too much about the whole evening. Perhaps she needs some Gryffindor bravery to move on.
Would love to see Chris' reaction to a family gathering at the Burrow, but feel that this will be some time coming.

It'll probably be a while, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait when the time comes!

Thanks for the review!

Hi Ugly Brother!

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you and Sara had a fun time!

Great chapter! But I totally could not spot the literary references. I think I've been reading DesCartes too long. I need sleep. I can't think anymore!

I love you!

Okay...Sis...One was really obvious. Baker Street? Dectectives...? Come on now...

The other one concerned Studley Constable. You wouldn't have gotten it anyway.

Thanks for the review!

I started reading this little jewel out of curiosity, and I must say, I'm enchanted. Keep it going, please. Oh, and, fyi, next time under the tropical sun, instead of a 50 suntain, use a 30-40 one and then use a 25 or less, it would help you better with your tanning without getting sunburned, whereas using a 50 or up will prevent it. Such are the things one know when living in this tropical islands.

Lucky you!

As odd as it is to admit, I have a farmer's tan I dearly enjoy preserving because my wife thinks it's cute, so I didn't mind being all pasty white! But thank's so much for the tip!

Thanks for the review!

Sweet. My heart goes out to Chris, despite the fact he's only a character. I'm impressed he could eat as quickly as Penny and still spend most of the time talking!

"A whole day of being a bitter, idle man was too much, and I was bored."

Bitter and idle is the most boring thing in the world, not to mention depressing.

I love Penny's description of Percy.

He hoped he could learn.

You've got stacks of readers to help you, Chris!

I love your stories dearly, and your obvious Americanisms always make me laugh.

Thanks, Kid. So glad you're enjoying it! I hope I can work on polishing out those Americanisms! Maybe you could send me a few pointers!

Thanks again!

Awesome! I can't wait until the next chapter. I really love Chris' character, he's just so interesting. Just one of those characters you can't help but love. Keep up the great work!

What a great first date! It was really nice getting the back story on Chris; it really adds that extra dimension to his character. And thanks for giving him the insight and empathy he had afterwards towards Penny's possible reaction to the date. That, too, adds so much to his character. I am so enjoying this companion story to DtR.

Thank you! I think, if I'm honest, Chris is the most fun to write, because I can do what I like with him. The others, while fun, are a challange to fit into the previously defined framework.

Thanks again!

i'm really enjoying reading this story and defining the relationship- its fun knowing what people are doing in more detail when they disappear from a main story!

fab- so when are the next chapters eh? looking forward to more DTR too...
