I was a little thrown off by having Charlie and Bill in the same room with Fleur...it's just hard to distinguish between Charlie and Bill for me, is all. I really liked this chapter. I do love Ginny as a character and hope that JKR can find it in her heart to let her be a bigger part of the final book, too.

'Gripping the amulet in his pocket fiercely' -- is that the locket?
'if Professor Dumbledore said this great power you possess is love, do you really think it's a good idea to be pushing her away?' -- that's the million dollar question, isn't it?
'Look at what happened to Dumbledore's hand' - on this I think Snape's comment (HBP 2) is interesting; perhaps Harry , Ron , and Hermione won't have as hard a time.
I like your use of the 'beast' .
Jean-Luc -- are you a Star Trek fan?
Nice fight between Harry and Ginny

Continued greatness.
But for some reason the font colour was blue and black and a bit distracting...

Ok first off, I think Fleur should quit meddling with everyone else. She should at least notice that Harry and Ginny were holding hands when Bill was attacked but aren't now and it's not been that long ago. She should realize it's too soon to be setting them up even if her intentions are good.

I think someone should cuff Harry in the back of the head for making this more difficult than it is. He can't let his inner demon rule him if he intends to go through with his plan. On the other hand, if he listens to his demon then he shouldn't try to counter it with his nobility of letting Ginny go. The two sides of him just don't mix and he needs to learn that now before he does real damage.

Well, there's certainly no shortage of romantic tension in this chapter. I'm glad Harry and Ginny came to something of an understanding as it starts to open the way for other aspects of the plot, but you certainly put them the ringer to get them there. And now Ron's all worried about Krum, possibly giving you a new target to torment in the immediate future. That together with the looming wedding definitely creates an explosive environment, though. It'll be interesting to see what you make of it.

I'm glad to see you start to drop more solid hints about where the story is headed next. Strange things happening at Grimmauld Place? The address for Godrics Hollow? Those seem to be the places where the (non-romantic) action starts, and as someone who’s generally ambivalent about romance/fluff-oriented stories, I am definitely looking forward to that.

I also continue to be impressed with your usage of the characters. Everything they do -- be it Hermione's no-so-veiled advice, Fleur's needling or Ginny's understanding -- seems to be very much in character. And I like how you again used a conversation involving Harry to wrap up the chapter. That strikes me as a simple, yet subtle, device for providing final analysis for one chapter and creating a bridge to the next.

Anyway, I'm still slowly plugging along with this. So thanks for your hard work.

Thanks much! I'm enjoying reading your take on the story, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy it. I really do think it belongs in more a "general" category than strict romance, but I'm eager to hear if you agree.

As much as it is strange for me to say it, I loved Ginny and Harry's fight. You did a great job in the tenseness between them and how angry they got at each other. Well, I'm off to read the next chapter. Keep up the great work!

I found Ginny impressive, however, I don't quite understand why Harry made that comment. Things were fine - under the circumstances, but then he ruined it for no apparent reason, whatsoever.

Wow, another great chapter. i loved the Ginny and Harry reunion bit. Harry does seem to be becoming really distracted by Ginny already and they aren't even together though.

Although I've only read 3 chapters of your story you're definitly becoming one of my favourite Fan Fic authors, and I've been reading HP fan fics for years!

Nasty reunion, on Harry and Ginny's part of course. And Fluer just needs to stick her hand in her mouth and swallow it. She has no right to be match-maker. But, I wonder what will happen during the wedding. That will be the next chapter won't it?

the reunion...i liked it...it differs from how i think canon is going to turn out (after all...i honestly dont think JKR's gonna settle Harry down with anyone at all by the end of the book, so...yeah.), but it was fun to read nonetheless.

I've followed your writing for a while now, and I am quite impressed with how much the quality of it has improved. This story flows very smoothly. You've always had good characterizations and interesting plots, but now the descriptions are better, and it just comes together as a whole.

As for Ginny, I very much doubt that JK will have her join the quest, as you seem inclined to do. JK doesn't waste page space to set up stuff for future books, just to abandon it afterwards (e.g.: How many people argued that Ginny/Dean was only a red herring at the end of 5, and how many fanfics spent pages disclaiming their relationship - just b/c it didn't fit in with the fandom's thirst for H/G?) Me, I strongly believe Ginny WILL be left out, at least for a good chunk in the beginning (just as I strongly believed Ginny/Dean WAS real, and a device to make Harry jealous in 6).

That being said, I was completely disgusted with JK's decision on Ginny, which pretty much ruined book 6 for me (especially since I got spoiled before even starting it...). I'm sure JK has a good reason for this, but it nevertheless riled me, b/c it sounded so completely sexist: leave the little woman home while big brawny man goes to war. ARGH! And no, Hermione isn't enough of a substitute, b/c from Harry's pov, Hermione is almost asexual, just one of the guys. So I very much prefer fanfic that has Ginny going with Harry on the quest, while at the same time being quite convinced it's not gonna happen. Go figure! A good fanfic, though, should be able to make it happen in a smart way, so it's believable. So far, I like what I'm seeing in your fanfic. You're certainly not giving Harry an abrupt change of heart, but it seems you're leaning towards having them together on the quest. Make it smooth, and I'll be a very happy reader. :-)

Yup, Harry has a pretty serious case of approach/avoidance with
respect to Ginny all right. :-}

It's good to see Fleur holding her own against Gred & Forge.

Harry & Ginny's reunion was pretty believable -- at least up to
the point that Harry made that remarkably stupid comment about
Ginny & Jean-Luc. I realize he doesn't have his head on
straight, but making that comment in that context seems to
require more masochism than I really expected of him. But then,
folks do sometimes do stupid things; I suppose Harry's no
exception to that.

BTW, re: the "RL issues" mentioned in your A/N -- took me a
while to figure out what "Remus Lupin issues" might be. :-}

Very well done, of course! :-)
Saturday 18th March 2006 17:01The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
LOL at you equating RL to Remus rather than real life - we've all got too much Potter on the brain, don't we?

Harry did have a bad case of foot in mouth disease, but jealousy can do funny things to you, particularly when you're a teen and feeling very out of control. Harry's frustration is getting the best of him. Who can really blame the kid for losing it on occasion?

Yay I'm so glad you're writing a good post-HBP fic. I love your writing and your plot already is going nicely!

I like the little bits of teenage humour you inject it with -- Harry spending longer in the shower cause he's thinking of Ginny made me smirk. Such a teenage guy ...

Ginny is perfect. That's all I have to say on her. She's perfect.

I will be a regular reader on this!

The Seventh Horcrux
I love your Ron and Harry interactions. They're so true to the characters, and there just aren't enough friendship moments in the canon. You can see the easy friendship they have with one another, and how they've come to trust in one another over the years. The Harry and Hermione parts are nice, too -- she understands him more than anyone, including himself, although she refuses to let him work things out his way despite knowledge that he's not going to act any differently no matter what she says.

Anyway, the short version: you write the trio excellently. =)

I think your Harry and Ginny reunion was excellent, too. They can't change the fact that they have chemistry together, no matter what their reasons for being apart are, and situations like that often turn to misery and fireworks. Very well-done. I like that Ginny is all self-sacrificing the same way Harry is. They both have the touch of Voldemort in their lives more so than anyone else, and it's logical that they would instinctually and consciously strive to be as different from him as possible.
Friday 17th March 2006 06:34The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
I agree - I love to see the friendship between the trio, too. They're a nice little family unit in their own unconventional way. I think Harry and Ginny are a lot alike, which is why they understand each other so well. Thanks.

Another great chapter, but I could just kick Harry in the you-know-where for making Ginny so upset. I really hope he takes Hermione's advice and reconciles with Ginny at the wedding, but from the looks of it, I'm blowing smoke rings hoping this will happen! Both of Harry's talks with Hermione and Ron went straight to my fluffy spot, but Ron's response to having to tell Hermione in words that he fancies her made me laugh; you have his personality down beautifully. I'm looking forward to your next chapter.
Thursday 16th March 2006 10:19The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Where exactly do you want to kick Harry? I'm glad you enjoyed Ron - I think he gets so short-changed in a lot of fanfics, and I do love Ron. He and Harry need each other.

Excellent chapter as always.

I notice your Harry is still quite pig headed. Someday that boy needs to grow up a bit and figure a few things out.

Your Ron is just as clueless as he was in 4th year. I am hoping you bring both those gits around eventually.

Thanks for sharing the story.

I like the dynamic you've established between Harry and Ginny. I personally don't like it when an author splits them up. What you've done is excellent! I also enjoyed seeing Ron and Harry de-gnoming the garden on their own initiative! That was too cute. Poor gnomes! Those two will probably rid the garden of every last one! Hee. You'll see Jean Luc in the next chapter, and the tension continues between Harry and Ginny. I've always ignored all references to height, lol, since I don't know how the British measure it. They use the metric system, so I don't think they'd say 6 feet. I really should figure it out, lol.

OMG. I remembered why I love your work so much. The way your Harry and Ginny interact is just so... arg, I don't have the words for it. I'm just glad you're writing on a regular basis again. I felt like I was reading the seventh book, and not fanfiction. I know you try to follow cannon as much as possible, so bravo, you're doing a fabulous job!

I like the last scene between Harry and Ron. It's a very true to life guy-to-guy commiseration moment. It's well done. I think the fight between Harry and Ginny could be improved. They started dinner with some meaningful and helpful dialogue between them. It seemed to help calm the tension a little bit. But, a few minutes later, they snap at each other with no real build up or explination. It doesn't feel natural. It feels too scripted. I'm glad to see the update though and I like to read your stories. I'm looking forward to what you come out with next. Thanks!

He is stubborn, but his reasons are also valid, so he's caught in the middle not knowing which way to turn. No wonder the poor boy is confused. Harry usually comes to the right decision, he just takes a roundabout way of getting there

I love your bantering between Ron & Harry and Harry & Ginny and Harry & Hermione. You really capture them - spot on!!!

The angst meter is going pretty good between H & G!!! He's got to get together with her at some point. Hermione has it right - if Love is Harry's strength - he shouldn't be separated from it. Ginny isn't protected no matter what and H&G are better/stronger together. I just can't wait to see how you're going to do it. I like how your mind works!!! Awesome job on this chapter. I think you nailed the characters perfectly. Also, the plot conflicts that you have set about are realistic, and very well written. I especially like the way you portrayed emotions in this chapter. It is enough to make you truly understand a character's mood, without throwing around too many words, or overcomplicating the plot. This was just really well done.

Yeah! Ginny is here! I have been looking forward to your take on the reunion of Harry and Ginny since reading HBP, and you did a fantastic job! I loved the combination of pain, longing, anger, and humor that you interjected into their interactions. I truly believe this is the most realistic portrayal of their reunion that I have read. I don't think Harry and Ginny would react to each other with just one emotion, like anger. Their relationship and feelings are deeper than just a one dimensional emotion.

I also loved the conversation between Hermione and Harry after Harry's nap. The different emotions that Harry felt during the conversation were so vivid. But I have to say that my favorite part was Hermione relating how Harry and Ginny were doing the same thing as the people in the Christmas story--sacrificing what was most important in each of their lives for the other one. That just hit me! That is exactly what they are doing.

Long day at work--9-1/2 hour. Brain fried. It was nice to come home to the third chapter of your story. It's the best mental health remedy I have!

What a great chapter! I really love the Harry and Ron moments, they have just the right amount of male-bonding and brotherly-love masked by gruff name calling. I laughed so hard when Ron said, "You mean they both ended up with a present they couldn't use?". So typical! I really look forward to "Vicky" and "Jean-Lucifer's" entrance - I hope that you have some good Ron and Harry jealousy planned (perhaps something involving smashed wedding cake? *wink*). I swear to God, if you hurt Ron, I'm going to do...something (what, I don't know but...). Please, no "character death" warnings!

On the other side of the coin, I see that you're keeping the angst simmering on low. My heart twinged when Harry suddenly realized that he was homeless. I found this line especially affective, "...his traitorous hear for its pathetic hopefulness." Lovely. I look forward to you next chapter!

And oh man my heart feels so heavy right now. Like, gah. I really have no idea what you'll be doing with Harry and Ginny. Are you going to pull a JKR and a Yule Ball scene a la Harry/Ginny? Are you going to keep them out of their misery and give Harry and Ginny at least ONE night of love and freedom and happiness that they can hold on to? Gaaah.

Excellent fic, I absolutely love all the tension you have building up, and I adore Mrs. Weasley's compassion, and Harry sitting in the dark (*tear*) and Hermione whiping the chocolate from Ron;s mouth, and Harry and Ron's interaction at the end and Merlin just EVERYTHING!!!

And yes Harry. Never forget it. Ginny will always, always get under your skin.

This is going to sound awful - but I loved all the angsty misery.

I really agree with you on Harry and Ginny's reunion being awkward and difficult - this whole thing is just going to be so hard on both of them. I also loved the "Gift of the Magi" reference - very nice. I hope Harry and Ginny find a way to make their peace with one another before the Trio head out though. I know Harry's going to pine for her anyway, but if they leave it like this, it's going to kill them both!

Fabulous. I'm so excited you're writing this, really.
Ginny was wonderful. Fleur and the Weasley's were wonderful. And this is the first time the thought of Viktor coming to the wedding has ever entered my brain and it's flipping BRILLIANT. If that's not enough to get Ron and Hermione together, nothing will. I really, really hope JKR puts him in, too. Wow. I laughed for a really long time when I read the Vicky and Jean-Lucifer thing. This is going to be the most interesting wedding story (or, in this case, chapter) I've read, I have a feeling. It makes total sense that it's coming from someone as original as you. The Seventh Horcrux
Woot - what a nice surprise this was!

Can't wait to see Ginny's reaction to Gabrielle hitting on Harry or Harry's reaction to Jean-Lucifer (Way to go, Ron!) hitting on Ginny... Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, at least that's how I remember the old saying and I have a feeling that there will be more thunderstorms and eruptions between Harry and Ginny before it clears, I think the qoute says it all:

"Don't be stupid. What Ginny needs is you, same as you need her. I know my little sister, Harry. She didn't spend how many years waiting for you only to give up now that you're finally paying attention. Ginny's way more tenacious than that," Ron said, shaking his head.

In many ways Harry and Ginny have replaced Ron and Hermione as the bickering couple, which the following qoute illustrates beautifully:

Harry turned on his heel and stomped away from the table. He knew his and Ginny's raised voices had attracted the attention of several of the others, but he didn't really care at the moment. He stopped at the front of the Burrow and took several deep breaths. None of the Dursleys had managed to get this much of a rise out of him in the entire fortnight he'd spent there. How did she manage to do it three times in the space of a few short hours?

I think Harry will lose to Ginny in the end - their feelings for each other are too strong to be ignored, the UST is very much a big factor and then Ginny is probably the most stubborn Weasley of them all, not now when she knows how he feels about her!

Fleur, the girl we love to hate (along with Romilda and Pansy) is doing a splendid role and she showed that she's got a sharp tongue and quick wit as well with her brushing of the twins:

"Oh, pleaze. My friends are completely out of your league, little men," Fleur replied dismissively, causing Bill and Charlie to howl with mirth.

You've managed to create a lively and inspiring supporting crew to Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione and this chapter was pure bliss to read!!!

Many thanks for reading and sharing this!!!

Aww, thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. My computer has been down all day and I finally just got it back. It was lovely to turn it on and find all these splended reviews. I did have fun with Fleur in this chapter.
