I'm so glad you finished this! It's miraculous. So good, and beautifully written. I love the way you repeat and change words and phrases - manic in his genius ... imperfect perfect fairytale. Fred and George's had my heart clecnching and it didn't stop for the rest of the story.

And I got Brian before the explanation. *Swanks* Although I'm sure we've had this conversation before, so maybe I'm not as clever as all that.

Up until Tom, this brought tears to my eyes. Then it was more gut-clenching, really. And of course Brian evokes tenderness. And it was obvious, at least to me, who he was named for. I agree with your choice. As if you needed *my* approval, right?
Very nice fic. Sorry I took so long to get to it.

Very original and ... Ooooh, so sweet it makes you crave for more! BTW, Brian sounds good... it must be something to have that "messy red hair" though

Ginny's Men
This is absolutely terrific.

I read this yesterday but something was tickling my nugget that I couldn’t place so, I let it sit for spell. Then as I re-read each relationship again, it dawned on me; the words. The words you chose (or in one case didn’t choose) create a pattern to me.

Warmth… Distance … Heady… (None)... Fun… Quiet and Loud… Loyal… Pain… Pain… Pride.

Warmth (Safe) – The feeling we have as a child that we get from our parent’s love.
Distance (Separation) – As we grow older, we pull away from that warmth to discover new things.
Heady (Exciting) – As a child breaks free from protective constraints, adventures become thrilling.
None (Void) – That hole that is left by our transition that we must fill with our own identity.
Fun (Joy) – We seek out and get involved in what makes us happy.
Quiet and Loud (Solitude and Rebellion) – Teenage years
Loyal (Friend) – The foundations we build with those who have always been there for us.
Pain (Wound) – The marks that are left by those who are cruel.
Pain (Hurt) – The ache that can only come from those that we Love.
Pride (Pleasure) – The parent has provided warmth and transferred their knowledge to their child

…and the cycle starts over.

You’ve expressed such thoughtfulness in developing Ginny’s views of each of her relationships with these people. I also feel that you’ve expressed great insight into how we may view our relationships with others; especially our family members. You aptly captured the essence of how relationships have foundations that they are built upon and the chemistry that exists between the two people. Every relationship is unique in its characteristics and has varying degrees of impact on each person.

~A truly wonderful effort.

Wow Paladin! I'm not sure exactly how to reply to such a lovely review, but I'll give it my best shot!

I didn't consciously choose those words to in that pattern, but now that you mention it, I may have just done it on purpose I guess, when you think about it, Ginny's gone through so much that, at 16, it could almost encompass a lifetime.

Thank you for always reviewing my work, and for this one, which is so thoughtful (and long!) that it kinda blew me away! Thanks again

I read through this as though it was one long manic thought, and it was brilliant (of course I also have a headache). Seriously though, it was interesting to have her perspective on these people in her life. I think you wrote this very well; another writer might have taken it in the wrong direction by adding characters like Michael and Dean, or even Sirius and Lupin. Really great job.
Friday 14th April 2006 02:56Ginny's Men (Author Response)
Hey, you Thank you so much for your review. I briefly considered doing Michael and Dean, but then thought they were just transition guys in Ginny's life, and not really very influential. Now if I did a Harry's men.... well, that might be different

“Snitch” and "Ginnykins": I love the way you show the relation to each brother, each one different from the other.
Tom just gave me a shock when he first appeared. But of course she couldn't forget about him. That was so well done.
And the ending with Harry and Brian ... Sweet.
... I'll remember this story.

I think Tom was very influential in shaping the strong Ginny we got to see in HBP.

*sniffle*

Now I'm all emotional. Although I did initially have the same reaction as hewithnoname when I got to the Brian part, heh. I think Arthur was my favorite, though; the "Don't tell your mother!" line was wonderful, and just so... just so Arthur.

I was reading this and thinking "This is good, I like it." And then I got to Brian. It was then "Who the hell is Brian?" I then chuckled to myself as I read on. "Oh Brian is the lad, their lad." I take it Harry never made it then? Shame really, brave, but a shame. Great fic.

Hehehehe, you know, I had to make it ten to fit my little symmetrical brain.

Harry made it, definitely. I just didn't have him in the paragraph because it's all Ginny, man.

Thank you for your review!

I am kinda speechless.

When I read :

Love, unconditional. Life, uncompromising.

I dunno why but it really got to me, I read it about 10 times before moving on to the next part, I actually had tears in my eyes by the end of it.

I love simply the idea of it itself, just the few words to some up a person, and they kinda mean nothing and everything on their own all at once.
(that made ABSOLUTLY no sense, I realises this, but I know what I mean!
)

I am kinda hoping you know what I mean too

amazing work, I love it, keep it up!

I do what you mean... they're just words, but they mean a lot to Ginny.

Oh, Katieay, that's beautiful! I completely connected with it immediately (I think it was the "Don't tell your mother" bit that did it). As I read through I kept thinking: this is the best one, they can't get any better. But each one did, except none of them are not as good as the others. I want to go back and savour each one, over and over.

You highlight what should have been obvious but wasn't to me; that Fred and George are two different characters.

An interesting piece and a welcome change.
Wednesday 12th April 2006 14:37Ginny's Men (Author Response)
Thanks so much for your review! I often forget that Fred and George are individuals, they work so well as a unit, so this was a nice reminder for me, too!

I'm glad you liked it and thanks again.

Ginny's Men
Interesting, but not easily read. However, I beg to disagree with

She is never “just my little sister” to Ron

I think it's part of the Harry-Ginny problem that she was reduced to little sister when Ron went to Hogwarts and had his own friends he didn't want to share.
Wednesday 12th April 2006 14:35Ginny's Men (Author Response)
Thank you for reading and reviewing!

I think that Ginny was only treated like a little sister by Ron when Harry had something to tell Ron and Hermione, like on the train in PoA. On the other hand, I think Ron would have spoken to anyone that way, and as such that he didn't do it just because it was Ginny.

That's just my take on it, though

Thanks again for reviewing!

Ginny's Men
What a sweet, marvelous collection of thoughts and memories. I think of all the sections, Ginny's thoughts on Fred and George are my favorites. It seems to me that though she loves all her brothers equally, she admires the twins most because they think in possibilities and weren't afraid to show her their emotions after her ordeal in the Chamber.

As for Harry, there's a lot of emotional baggage to those memories and feelings. I'm glad Ginny and Harry finally "made it" and went on to create the next generation for Ginny to love.

Thanks for sharing...

*picks jaw up off floor*

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. This was such a great review! I think Fred and George do show their emotions more than anyone in the Weasley family... they seem much more comfortable in their own skin than any of their brothers. And I think it's that that makes Ginny seem like them.

Thank you again for reviewing! I'm all grinny

Quite well done. And yes, I figured the origiin of Brian's name. :-) (I'm mildly surprised that Ginny hadn't given birth to other (surviving) boys in the 11 years since Brian was born, but the emphasis in that should be on "mildly." :-})

Awesome Katie,

As the youngest of 5, I can totally relate to the different relationships with her siblings.

Now if you would just fill in the blanks. I'd like to see more of this story if possible.
