Hi there,

I've read most of your version of DH and I think what you've done is truly amazing. IT has to be said that it bears distinctive marks of not being Jo Rowling's work (not the least of which are quite a few Americanisms that slipped through the net - "think fast!" for instance) but you have a writer's imagination and I'm sure you could do this for yourself if you chose to. It's an amazing piece of work and it's just a shame that the real DH doesn't have such a happy ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your efforts, especially the truly "kick " climactic battle in the Death Room at the Ministry. Superb, truly superb.

Kind regards,

Jamie Sleeman

Aww, thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm feeling confident the real DH will end happily for Harry and his friends, but we'll know for certain in just a few more days. I really appreciate your taking the time to let me know you enjoyed it.

This is really annoying you know...I was just intending in reading a couple of chapters...and here I am...reading for over three hours solid...About the chapter, I thought Harry telling some bits to Remus, but not all, was good : it seems a normal gesture for a boy to confide to someone older whom he loves, but still, the sense of duty not to say everything!(dear me, I'm not sure that what i just said was very english...oh well!)

I personally want Draco to come to light in the end. I'm not saying I want him to be some noble hero... he'll just be saving his neck. I never even considered it before HBP but... he's so young. Likely Narcissa showed him what love was, and if evil can love then it's not really evil, right? I don't know... I just don't want him to be evil in the end.

Also: I thought it was a bit callous of the twins to make fun of the Parkinsons sisters arguing about their murdered father. Not necessarily out of character, because they made a lot of mischief that was more than inconvenient to innocents...

Another evil cliffy. You're very good at them.

I'm glad Harry finally trusted Remus but a part of me hates that he had to break his promise to Dumbledore.

Pansy and her sister are certainly a pair. I look forward to seeing more of them or mainly seeing Harry put them in their place that it's his house as he did Draco before.

Hey, sorry I haven't reviewed in a while, I've been away. These last few chapters have been incredible, very intense. I even enjoyed the cliffhangers, which is not something I generally admit, but the way you write really makes the difference. I especially enjoyed the trip to Azkaban, though the characters did not, the emotion and tension truly showed. Excellent job, but now I'm skipping ahead to the next chapter. I can't wait to read more.

What? I haven't reviewed this yet? I've been slacking.

I loved this chapter, between Pansy's interesting character, Harry's recovery from the dementors, and the cave scene round two: brilliant. I loved Ginny in the end scene in particular. Only one complaint: Evil, evil cliffie. Great job!

Heh, thanks! But I love cliffies! I promise, the next chapter is on the way.

No, you absolutely cannot hold chapters! And JKR absolutely cannot kill any of the characters, except maybe for Voldemort.

*sigh*

If only things were that simple.

Honestly, I think she's going to kill off Snape...

Oh, and great chapter by the way!

Heh...I think she's going to kill a lot more than Snape, but I honestly do think Harry will survive.

Once again a brilliant job. You did a great job re-visiting the last place Harry and Dumbledore were at. The thoughts, the emotions and of course the always ready action. Very exciting and I can't wait for the next chapter!

Excellent chapter(s) I forgot if I reviewed the last update. If I didn't I'm sorry, my computer doesn't always feel like playing nice and im a camp counselor 8-6 every day so I'm usually too tired to write a review after reading a chapter. I don't have a problem with you killing off characters as long as Harry and Ginny dont die half because they're my favourite characters and half because I feel like as long as Harry has Ginny he'll be able to bounce back eventually. Keep up the wonderful work and update soon!

Killing off characters???????? Okay, here's my list of characters that must live. It's short.

Harry - that goes without saying. He's been through so much, and I would love to see him have a happy ending.

Ginny - She can come near death, but if Harry survives, then the woman he loves should survive as well. After all, this is fan fiction.

Characters that can die:

Snape - A lot of people think that he and Dumbledore worked together to plot the Head Master's death. That's bull to me. I really don't want Snape to be a good guy. He's been so mean to Harry, and I truly think he was a double agent until he murdered Dumbledore.

Tom Riddle - Once and for all. He needs to be destroyed. All the Horcruxes need to be executed. Now how can that be done with Harry surviving? Well, I was thinking about the other obects that are Horcruxes. When they were destroyed, they didn't disappear, they remained, so why can't Harry? I don't know how, but it could be done. You're the writer so I'll leave you to work out the minor details. hehehe.

The rest of the characters are up for grabs to play with. Now, if you kill off H/G, and let Snape and Tom live, I'm sure I'll eventually get over it. But it will be a long long time before that happens. :-(

Good Luck with your ending Melindaleo. You're an excellent writer, and I'm sure you'll work it out somehow.

Heh...you know I'm not ready to tell what I'm going to do yet, right? All I'm going to say is there will be losses on both sides. Come on, if I told you all know what was going to happen there would be no point in reading it!

Heh - I'm not sure it is in Draco to be "nice". He is who he is. I think he was making strides toward at least a working relationship with Harry...but we'll see what havoc Pansy's presence creates. He's not so isolated anymore...

Let me first start by saying, "thanks for the whopping 25 pages update." Your betas are doing a great job, and they are not gone unregconized. This story is truly wonderful.

I'm glad you brought Pansy and her family in the mix of things. Even though they could be snobs, and quite horrible, it's nice to know that Harry's crew is doing things to help keep them safe. I know that can't be easy for them to come to terms with, but that should deflate their egotistical Slytherine attitudes a bit. Great job writing that bit.

I liked the way you ended the whole Azkaban trip. Even Malfoy had to shut it when Harry told the lot what happens when he's faced with Dementors.

Loved the cliffe. Can't wait until the update. I look forward to it each week. I hope Ron and Hermione will be all right, and I hope Harry destroys the Horcrux and get him and Ginny out of there safely.

Thanks! And I'll pass your thanks and acknowledgement onto Sherylyn and the prebetas. They've really been fantastic to me. I'm glad you like the addition of the Parkinsons. They should stir things up nicely - and make Draco not so alone anymore. We'll see if he regresses into his old ways.

As for Harry swimming - well, he did say that he couldn't swim in the fourth book, but he did just fine with Dumbledore - sodding wet clothing and all.
Point taken! I still wonder where he learnt it, though...

I'm very curious about what you read differently with Draco and Pansy? Just a feeling I had... It's always Pansy who clings to Malfoy and tries to get his attention, never him... I read it like he just put up with her because it flattered his ego. That's not to say that I can't accept your interpretation, of course!
Wednesday 5th July 2006 06:17The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hmm, it's certainly possible. My impression was that it was more JKRs point to all those who try to match him with Hermione or Ginny - Pansy is his type of girl

The Seventh Horcrux
OOH! Nonono. You can't possibly stop it there! Gah.
Eewk. Parkinsons. *twitch* They're so... well, she's perfect for Draco, anyway. Garsh, they're just so infuriating! It drives me nuts. It's almost as bad as reading Umbridge, who was definitely the most evil character I've ever read. I know, I know, Voldemort's pretty darn bad, but there's something about Umbridge, how she still thinks she's doing the RIGHT thing, that she's the GOOD GUY that makes me crazy! And apparantly other people as well. ...Wow. Way off-topic. Sorry.
Poor exhausted Harry. You really aren't giving him any sort of break, huh? Ha, but I guess no one really does. JKR least of all. I don't know. I think someone should write a story about a year in Harry's life in which NOTHING goes horribly, horribly wrong: going to the supermarket, gardening, frolicking in meadows with a certain someone, etc. But in the words of Harry himself, "I don't go looking for trouble. Trouble usually finds me." How true. xD
Yes. I'm truly sorry for this rambling, but I tend to do that in review when I'm absolutely STAR-STRUCK from the oodles of greatness sewn into these stories. ^^ I'm glad the next chapter's already written and just has to go through betaing...right? But yes, at least you don't have to write the whole thing from scratch! ...Oh, who am I kidding? The wait is gonna kill us. But that just shows how good - or is that bad? - you are.
Wednesday 5th July 2006 06:16The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, heh. So, you don't like Umbridge, hmmm? Snigger. Just you wait

As for Harry - well, a normal year most likely would get rather boring. He needs the SuperMarket to be overrun by masked terrosits threatening to release nerge gas, poisonous plants to overrun his garden and have him very slowly become sicker and sicer without knowing why, and get a sunburn on his backside from frolicking in the meadow That's just how it works for Harry!

Best part so far: Hermione dissing Pansy and everyone. And getting George to sit his as* down. She's a Weasley through and through!! I absolutely loved that part!!

But now the drama!! What in the name of Merlin is going to happen next!? I really hate Death Eaters. And now there's Pansy. I was so sure Iris would have been "normal" but I guess not. (I really have a ridiculous Dumbledore-ish concept of redemtption... what with Draco and now Iris!)
Oh and that moment between Harry and Remus really made me happy! It was very bittersweet, but I' m glad to see they're bonding!
And Tonks is hysterical- assuming Harry would face dementors for a gift. That's just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!

Amazing work, and please don't hold chapters hostage!! They're only trying to make a living!
Great work, and I am eagerly anticipating the update!!
Tuesday 4th July 2006 13:31The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! Yes, it would be ridiculous for most...but somehow, I wouldn't put it past Harry. You have to remember, at that point, the Order still has no idea what Harry's doing. Don't give up on Iris yet - she's all Slytherin, but she's not a Death Eater.

I just kenw you were going to leave it at an evil cliffhanger. I hope the gang gets out okay. They have a lot to deal with considering the Inferi and the Death Eaters. Hopefully things will go their way and nobody will get hurt again.

On another note, you're descriptions of Azkaban were so chilling. I shivered from the safety of my computer. It took the boys awhile to get over too. It must have been bad. Now the gang has Pansy and Draco to deal with. I don't envy them at all. Although, maybe having them together will keep them distracted enough that our kids don't have to deal with them as often. I'm also glad that Harry and Remus made up. I don't like seeing them distrustful of each other. I'm sure Harry feels a bit better having shared some of his burden too.

I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the great writing.
Tuesday 4th July 2006 13:29The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. And yes, I'd imagine Azkaban might be bad. I think Pansy is more a hindrance than a help to Draco...as you'll soon see.

Excellent, of course. And yes, I can spell "cliffhanger."

Yeah; saw the new article about JKR. Not sure but what I might prefer fanfiction. :-}
Sheralyn: excfellent work; keep after her. :-)

BTW, there seemed to be a most peculiar formatting issue: each (single or double) quote, as well as what would likely have been a colon or an em dash, was represented by my browser as a white question mark inside a vertically-oriented dark blue oval. It's probably an artifact of a character set mis-match somewhere.

I loved Harry's & Remus' conversation in the library. The fracture in their relationship was so sad, and I'm glad that it's been healed. Remus' frank comment on his own character seems rather ominous:
I wish I had a bit more of your backbone, Harry. I wish just once I could stand up for what I believe and just do the right thing.

I think he will find his backbone, but it will also be his undoing....

Terrific, and wonderfully long, chapter! Thanks!

No! Another cliffhanger! And this is worse than before...last time they had Moody and Tonks to help them, this time...

The chapter was great though. I loved the exchanges between the Parkinson's, Ginny and Hermione, and the way you left us waiting in suspense for several paragraphs before resolving the cliffhanger from last chapter worked really well.

I love this story so much! Looking forward to the next update

The Seventh Horcrux
I liked the Azkaban scenes and the cat fight a lot. And especially Harry's talk with Remus.

I wanted to scream at Harry and shake him very hard when he came up with the idea to go back to the cave. It seems just so stupid of Harry to risk that before he made sure it was absolutely necessary. He could have waited until Remus had found the additional information about Horcruxes, to be sure it was worth the risk. Or at least asked Dumbledore's portrait about it. Dumbledore destroyed the ring, he would have known whether he had to do it at a specific place.

Did you deliberately let them make a huge mistake, or is Harry's hunch a good one? If you're going with the latter, it contradicts canon, imo, because Dumbledore didn't try to destroy the locket then and there. He also never mentioned anything about it. Plus, Harry - as he is a Horcrux - could only be killed in Godric's Hollow.

I'm looking forward to the next chapter to see where you're going with this one. Right now, I don't like the twist too much. Hermione at least should have argued a bit more against the idea, imo.
Tuesday 4th July 2006 07:44The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
*shrugs* Not exactly sure how to respond to this one since I think it's just a difference of opinion. To me, it seems Dumbledore easily could have destroyed his hand right where he found the ring and tried to destroy it. Canon wasn't at all clear on what happened. As for the locket - DD also wasn't clearly thinking at the time, and Harry only wanted to get him some help. DD proved he didn't have all the answers....it's Harry's journey now.

Ugh! Voldemort was holding Harry when he killed Lilly ... or at least touching him ... poor Lilly!

Iris is a nice addition to the story - I too thought she has something with George, but maybe not - and Pansy and Draco were cute, sneaking off together. Not cutecute, but you know - it was fairly nice moment for malfoy, after all the with his father. I'm glad Harry told him why he faints, although i doubt Malfoy will feel bad for teasing him in third year. Shame isn't really Malfoy's style, is it? Oh well, we can always hope, can't we ...

Grat chapter, and please - don't leave us hanging too long on the edge of the cliff!

PS> did you not jump for joy at JKR's interview? I was so excited, and her bit was great, but then they had those silly little kids - some of whom hadn't read all the books! - asking her questions while i sat there grinding my teeth as she, once again, said Hermione was the character most like herself. Grrr...

Thanks for a great read.

Thanks! Yes, I did grind my teeth a bit with the question, but I thought the kids were adorable. I did wish Emerson or Melissa was there to stir it up a bit and get to the good stuff

Oh my. You do enjoy writing cliff hangers, don't you? First the last chapter and now this...

I really like the way you focus the attention on details from the books that I didn't register like that when I read them. Like, the cup having refilled, Regulus only being 18 when he died, and of course, Dumbledore destroying a Horcrux before he had Harry ask Slughorn about them...

Though there are some things in the books that I read differently. Draco's and Pansy's relationship for example. Oh well, why not add a little romance for them , too.

I liked the way you wrote Pansy, though, and Iris. But I suppose my first wild guess that there was sonmething between George and Iris is entirely wrong...

One other thing. Since when does Harry know jow to swim? And swim faster than Ginny, too? I thought all he could do was a couple of metres.

Never mind that, though. I'm very much looking forward to the next chapter!

It' 2:35 am, and I just had to read your update before I went to bed. We just got back from picking up our kids, who had just returned from Boston. (I believe that is your neck of the woods.) When I saw the email update, I knew that I wouldn't be getting to bed right away. Oh, well, I've stayed up until 6:30 am before reading one of your stories. The whole Azkaban scenes and the cave scene at the end were brilliantly done. Interesting premise about the Horcruxes needing to be destroyed where they are found. Can't wait to see where this little road will be taking us and see how they will get out of this one. I am little worried about the "characters not list." Ugh! Not only do I have to worry about who JKR is going to be killing off, now I have to worry about who you might kill off???? Oh, no! *takes deep breath*

I'm very happy that Harry brought Remus into the loop - he's always so depressed and I think it makes it worse that he's not included in Harry's secret endeavors. The Azkaban cliff hanger went well - I liked that they had another opportunity to show that Harry is not untouchable; however, how often are they going to let him get into near death situations ... good stuff though, this story is incredible, keep up the great work - can't wait to see how this next hanger turns out!

Another thrilling chapter & what a cliffy!!!!! You just write all these characters so well. It's such a joy to read. The Azkaban section was very well written. I liked it alot. The feelings were so chilling - I felt like I was right there with them. Draco's such a whoosy!!

It's very interesting how Remus & Harry are interacting. Many authors show Remus as Harry's best new friend or adopted Godfather - but I like your take on him. IT's very astute to observe how he doesn't stand up for himself as others do. INteresting trait for a Gryffindor. I like it - I'll be curious to watch what you do with Remus' journey.

Your writing is just such a pleasure - can't wait for the next chapter - I'm glad it's going to be long, too. The longer the better!!!!! Thanks again for being so good about updating as quick as you do & still having such an awesome tale!!!!!

You're right, it is an interesting trait for a Gryffindor, isn't it? I can see a bit of Neville in Remus though, he just needs to find his comfort zone. I like the word whoosy for Draco, lol. He is an original. This chapter was actually the longest one in the story, I believe. We'll see what happens by the end.

The Seventh Horcrux
This may just be the best chapter yet! Everyone was perfectly in character and there was just enough balance between dialogue and description, action and hand-holding. Do you have any idea how difficult it's going to be by the end if you keep topping yourself? It just gets better and better. By the way, how far are we into the story? I hope there's a lot left!

Now of course you wouldn't dare kill off any of the four Anyone else is acceptable, except perhaps Moony... and none of the Weasley's, and you can't kill McGonagall or any of the Aurors... and no recognized Muggles. I guess that pretty much just leaves the Death Eaters and Malfoy. Feel free to whack Malfoy, I've never much liked the little ferret.

Ahh! I can't wait, the tension is killing me!!!

Aww, thanks! You're making me blush, but I'm thrilled you're still enjoying it. Don't stress me about the end yet, lol. You're around the half way mark. I think there will be about 32 chapters in all.

Heh, you've not left me anyone to kill! There HAS to be good guys as well as bad guys or it would just be silly. Both you and Sherylyn are going to have to hold your breath and get ready.

Oh I loved the "cat fight"! That was hilarious! Hermione ROCKS! And George conjuring the popcorn was too cute! I'm so glad they got out of Azkaban relatively okay. What a creepy place! But he got the locket!! I do hope they can converse with Dumbledore's painting in book 7 - that would be so cool. And Remus telling more details on how to create a Horcrux. Surely Lord V wasn't holding baby Harry when he tried to kill him so he's NOT a Horcrux afterall, right???? I love how since Ginny's underage that she can be of service in this hunt! OMG, the cave! Inferi are so frightening! Please don't hold the next chapter hostage!!! Great chapter Melinda!

Thanks! I don't think he was holding him in his arms, but I do think he might have had to have his hand on baby Harry to seperate him from Lily when he killed her. Creepy thought, huh?

I'm glad you enjoyed the catfight - I had fun with that.

Jeezz. Another cliffie. It is really good. And it was a surprise to me when Pandma, her mom, and her sister came. And Malfoy's reaction, very good. And by what you mean to JKR's latest comments, do you mean who is going to die and things like that?

Yeah, we're in cliffy alley I'm afraid, lol. As for JKR's comments, yes, I meant the ones she recently made on the talk show in Britain.
