Harry and the pillow. Very kinky
Wow, that May day dream sequence was quite good. Nice twist at the end, having Ginny wake up from the dream -- can't have Harry and her doing anything improper

Hello GryffindorDragon,

You had me laughing quite a lot with that review. I too liked the dream sequence - a mix of many images in my head on that one.

Oh perish the thought that they do anything improper - yet....

Thanks again for taking the time to review - it means the world.

The Eyes Have It
Wild mixture between Shakespearean and Venetian carnival (which is, of course, not necessarily very different from each other, but I'm thinking more along the lines of Shakespeare's MSD), well executed, and I'm looking forward to the explanation.

And I don't understand this bit:

She rationally told herself that he was being friendly, but secretly she remembered the feeling of his fingers on her face, and during quiet moments in the common room at night, she thought she spied him looking at her, as though he too remembered.

What does Ginny remember that Harry doesn't? Or seems not to?
Monday 17th July 2006 11:42The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Hello critmo,
I was wondering where you had gone.

In that quote, Ginny is remembering Harry's finger's on her face during the Quidditch practice when he brushed back her hair. Really, that is all the "shared" memories they have at this point regarding anything truly romantic. Remember, the Absent-tithe removed all memories after they drank it. Or at least we think it did. Read on. The last chapter is now posted.

Take care. And thanks again for reviewing. And yes, MSD was a huge inspiration for that scene:

If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream.

What a completely unexpected twist! Everything was kinda confusing, and then it all turned out to be a dream... or did it? Maybe some more side effects of the absent-tithe? The fact they shared that dream... or whatever it was, sure is highly intriguing

I guess you held true to your promise of angst! But then again, I found myself laughing yet again, that scene in the bedroom with harry and the pillows was hilarious!

Grats again on the excellent work, I'm gonna read the next chapter now, can't wait to see what happens

Hello lorgbb,

Glad you were confused -- wanted the reader to feel like they were in a dream too. Or was it a dream - hmmmm. Or what type of dream....

What's H&G without angst. All great couples need it.

Glad you liked the pillows. Somehow I think that it's more of a problem than JKR ever lets on.

Let me know how you like the ending. Thanks again for taking the time to review.

Hello Delani!
How are you? Thanks so much for coming back and reviewing.

Yes, wasn't the dormitory scene funny? I imagine it is more of a common occurence than JKR lets on. Oi, those boys.

Let me know how you like the last chappie. Need to keep writing -- feedback like your has been wonderful. Thank you.

Till then, cheers!

The Eyes Have It
At first I thought there had been some psychotropic side effects of the WWW drink Ginny had consumed at Christmas, until I read the end and realized it was a dream. Come to think about it, maybe there are some psychotropic effects that Harry and Ginny are still feeling that are being played out in their dreams. The whole dream sequence was surreal and very sensual. The fact that Ginny and Harry have shared this dream will make the next chapter very interesting. I keep wondering if Hermione will find an antidote and how that will play out. You have me hooked on your story.

Hello fritz42,

You are far too intelligent for your own good - almost scarily so. Please read the last chapter and report back.

It is tricky stuff that Absent-tithe.

Thanks again for taking time to review and letting me know what you liked, it helps me more than you know.

I had way too much fun betaing this. The best part of betaing is I get first read. Or one of the first reads. You are very talented. Kelleypen
Thursday 6th July 2006 12:34The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Dearest Kelleypen,

Let everyone who reads this know that these stories would be poor imitations without this woman's help.

I love working with her. I feel spoiled, like I have the best beta. And I don't share well.

Seriously, thank you, Kelley. It's a joy to find a place that values decent writing and is addicted to HP as much as I am.

Here's to new stories!!

Nifty! That was AMAZING! I had a very vivid impression from this chapter...and the use of May-Day was very neat. This was actually my favorite chapter of all...enticingly passionate and pagan (God that sounds like the back of a bad romance) and truly excellent!
Thursday 6th July 2006 12:28The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Hello Wooster,

How are you? Thanks for reviewing again. Between you, Felix, and cwarbeck I swear I shoud form a book club - I love to hear your opnions! You're all so sharp.

I'm so glad this was your favorite chapter. I did enjoy writing that scene. The only problem is that two scene breaks (you know the ***) in the piece, got lost in translation. One between Harry seeing Ginny and Dean, and one after the masks fall away. I wanted there to be time before Ginny sees the light (hah, double entendre there.)

Yes, lol, with the romance. It's tricky to write. Too little, the reader feels jipped (at least I do) and too much (unless its handled very very well) is just gymnastics. Everything imho, should hinge on emotion.

Thanks again. Let me know how you like Ch. 5.

Imagine my anguish when I discovered that the update notification feature had failed me and I didn't know you had posted chapter 4! Drat. I wanted to be the first to review here.

Once again, so many things to appreciate that I can't write them all down - but the one line that I did like was "Romilda Vane was practically leaving him detailed directions to the nearest broom closet with a money back guarantee".

Was the title taken from the movie? Because the images invoked in your story remind me of the controlled chaos and passion during that scene when Tom Cruise first visited the mansion. Hoo boy. Passion is probably too tame a word here to describe what probably happened between Ginny and Harry in the Forbidden Forest. It's probably a good thing that you didn't go into detail - I probably would have fainted dead away from too much hyperventilating! LOL.

As it is, your descriptions are gorgeous, my dear. I don't think anyone's thought of having a May Day celebration in fanfic before, and the festivities strongly reminded me of A Midsummer Night's Dream - all that was missing was Puck!

Oh dear, I've gushed away again. Well, you did promise to clean up after me. Update soon please!
Thursday 6th July 2006 12:18The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Dearest cwarbeck,

God, what a fabulous thing to have a cup of coffee, a quiet house (for once) and your review. I feel like I need to dedicate something to you - you've done more for my self-confidence in writing than I can say.

Smack, I kiss the monitor in your honor.

Hah! Yes, I snarked a bit on Romilda's line. Couldn't you just picture her face? Maybe she'd have a punch card like in coffee houses. A free *()*)((*(* after fifteen snog sessions. Lord, I can't believe I just said that.

You are brilliant as usual. Yes, the title was taken from that movie. I orginally was going to put a bunch of links to scenes from that masquerade and the masquerade from the movie version of Phantom (I don't know if you've ever read any of the Outlander books by Diane Gabaldon - but she said that Gerald Butler, the actor who plays the Phantom, is one of the only people she would consider to play Jamie Fraser (the hero in the series) - after seeing the movie I can see why. If you haven't read them, grab Outlander - a great summer read.)

Anyway...The 'Past the Point of No Return' scene also served as inspiration, as well as the painting I mention. Glad you were hyperventilating - I mean that in a good way!

And yes, yes, yes, I love AMND tremendously. My favorite line actually is when I kind of reference that - a time when fairies and witches were indistinguishable. Just love the visual of the fragility of magic.

Well, I gushed - you've got to clean up this time. Or as my father always said, "It's good to be in a mutual admiration society."

Take good care,
hwimsey

Ha! While I was reading the portion with the festival, I kept saying to myself, "This has got to be a dream". I was right. Good, because I couldn't imagine Harry doing any of those things. Not that I think he couldn't dream it also, but I'm glad you maintained my faith in your writing. It was a very interesting chapter to read and I'm looking forward to reading about more of the side effects of the Absent-ithe. Nicely done!
Wednesday 5th July 2006 23:29The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Dear thisgrlrox,

Hello!! How are you? Yes, it had to be a dream, of course. I tried to foreshadow it with Harry's initial dream. God forbid real teenagers act like that? Otherwise I'm locking up my eight year old right now!!

Dream it is, but whose and why? I think you know, but that tricky stuff will manifest itself in strange ways.

Anyway, let me know how you like Ch. 5. I will be writing a longer FF and would love for your continued feedback - you're an intelligent and thoughtful reviewer - they don't come any better.

Thanks again.

Hello DaFalcon,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to review, and I'm thrilled you're enjoying the story.

Not to worry though--I'm planning a much longer FF (25 or so chapters) after this one ends. Please stay around and tell me what you think. I love a community of readers - your feedback means the world.

Again, thanks for the lovely review. Let me know how you like Ch. 5.

Oh gorgeous! Poor, poor Harry sharing a dorm! That was hilarious. And what a wonderful magical fairyland - beautifully done. Part way through I wondered if it would turn out to be a dream - and then it did - but then ... it wasn't? So intriguing. But my favourite line ...
She expected a torrent of shouting, a denial, or refusal at least. What she didn't expect was to see her brother look at her like she was a limited edition Quidditch broomstick.

Lovely Ron!

Dear Ladybug,

How are you? Thanks so much for reviewing again. I kiss the monitor. Smack, in your honor.

Hah - yes, poor Harry. I'm sure this is much more of a problem in boy's dorms than JKR lets on.

Ahhh... A dream or not? You're so smart, you are. Always guessing ahead. How am I ever going to write a mystery with you around?

Don't you love Ron. JKR just stated in her last interview that he was more popular than Harry. She also said she was killing off two main characters - yikes. Please not Ron. I guess the death pools have begun on some sites.

Let me know how you like Ch. 5. And thanks again.

Beautiful. Just as well written as the last chapter. I think this line sums it up:
I am Harry's.
I love it. It captures Ginny completely in three little words.

I can't wait for the last chapter, but I also don't want it to end. Do you have more work in mind after this?
Wednesday 5th July 2006 23:15The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Dearest Felix,
Is it wrong to say you are one of my most favorite readers? But there, I said it. You are.

Thank you so much - it is such a pleasure to write for readers like you. I'm glad you're enjoying the story. This is my first piece of FF so I was a tad bit nervous. I'm happy that the story is being well received.

You continue to be a mind reader (you sure you didn't study Leglimency somewhere. ) I am currently working on a much longer FF. I was inspired by Cursed - my favorite FF on this site. It's going to be post Hogwarts post war ( evil still abounds). I want to write adult characters next. Ginny's a Healer at a hospital in Edinburgh. That's all I can say right now. I'm estimating it to run about 25 chapters or so.

Sorry for the long response. Let me know how you like Ch. 5. You can always drop a line at my livejournal.

Oh, what an excellent chapter! Your writing is just as ethereal as the masquerade dance in the Forest ... a beauty to read and immerse myself in. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Hi harry ginnyphile,
I love your userid - just perfect!!

If you could see me right now I'm blushing - worse than Harry and his pillow!! Thanks so much for the lovely review.

Yes, I loved the masquerade scene. Just saw it flowing in my mind. It seemed to fit well into the wizarding world.

Hi Ressa,
Thank you so much for taking the time to review.

Hah!! I loved that line too. Poor Harry. You've just gotta believe this is probably a more common occurence than JKR ever reports.

Hopefully, you'll like Ch. 5 (the last). Let me know. Till then, thanks again and

Wow! Harry's and Ginny's dreams very nice. Did not get it till the end, especially Ginny's. Which firts I thought was happening till she woke up, thanks to Hermione. Can not wait to see what else happens between those two. Will they finally remember what happen during the holiday and face each other, I wonder if Harry does remember. Keep on writing.

Oh God that was wierd. Very very good, and confusing.
Wednesday 5th July 2006 16:39The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Hi Daniel,
Sorry it was confusing -- a few of the scene breaks didn't come over correctly - you know the *** that separates the scenes. One should have happened after Harry saw Ginny and Dean, and one should have happened after the scene in the woods.

Hope you enjoyed it anyway -- and thanks for taking the time to review.

Wow. Eerie. Dream or no dream?

I loved this chapter, first Harry snogging the pillow, then poor Ginny struggling with Dean and finally, that wonderful, wonderful May night. Bravo!!!

Hi Evelyn,

How are you? Thanks so much for the review. I freaked a little because two scene breaks were missing, you know the *** that separates the scenes. One should have happened after Harry saw Ginny and Dean, and one should have happened after the scene in the woods.

I am sending a hug through the screen for the stand. o. comment - you are wonderful. Thanks.

Only one more chapter to go -- but I'm dreaming up a great long fic and should be posting that one soon.

Thanks again for taking the time.

As my past reviews have said, I love this story. This was a really fun chapter to read as I really wasn't sure what was and wasn't happening until the end.

That was such a "Hermione" like reaction to the Absent-ithe....although I have to wonder if she would have been SO bothered by it had she known what it made Ron declare to everyone who was partaking in a bit of it.

It seems fitting that Absent-ithe causes odd side effects since it's Muggle counterpart Absinthe (at lease I assume this is where F&G took the name inspiration from) is so full of danger and side effects as well.

I am desperate to know what happens with Harry and Ginny! Desperate I tell you!
Wednesday 5th July 2006 16:47The Eyes Have It (Author Response)
Hello acciobook,

How are you? Thanks for reviewing again - you are the best.

You must be a mindreader because my original draft had Ginny wondering what would be Herm's reaction to her brother's proclamation, until my very wise beta pointed out Ginny wouldn't remember her brother's proclamation since she had already drunk the Absent-tithe. Those betas, thank God for them.

Right on regarding the name. Remember Moulin Rouge and the fairies???

One more Chapter. It's through my beta so it should be up soon. Let me know what you think.

Take care,
