Two Nights in the Garden
'The Dursleys never touched me' -- is that 'affectionately' or in any way?
'He gave her an apologetic glance and she just smiled' -- . . . glance, and she . . .
'In second year he almost killed you, Ginny and me.' -- is that all? What about Penelope, etc.?
Nice scene with Harry and Hermione -- from unspoken crushes to brother and sister -- very sweet.

Well, one thing we know is that Harry was never treated in any way that remotely contained affection while with the Dursleys. Horrible people, really.

The glance was Harry's indirect way of an apology to Hermione for not having noticed she was a girl. Of course, he may have had more important things on his mind...

When he's talking about the deaths he's really focusing only on his close circle of friends.

I enjoyed writing this Harry/Hermione interaction and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. It was fun to push the bounds of canon just a bit but still keep it real.

Aww. This is the kind of story where you see the other side to all the characters. Very good.

Yeah, I kind of wanted to show them all really having grown up. They know what's about to happen, and a serious life-changing experience like that, at that age, tends to make you grow up.

Thanks for the review.

A very intense talk. - But why does Hermione smile "sweetly" at Ron, if she's angry with him for being a prat?

You know, as much time as they spend together, you'd think there would be more "intense talks" amoung them. Now as for Hermione, she did think Ron was a prat, but she can't help herself now that she's in front of him. She's just too attracted to him.

You really brought out the closeness between Harry and Hermione here. She wasn't overly pushy or matter of fact. They both have problems with a matter of the heart and they were able to help each other out. That's what real friendship is about.

With both Ron and Hermione determined to talk to the other and make amends, I believe their relationship will go well.

With the last sentence of the chapter, I believe Harry's and Ginny's conversation isn't going to go as well in the beginning and it's going to take a lot of talking just to come to an agreement. What use is it to save the world if you've destroyed your main reason for saving it? Harry really needs to think long and hard before Ginny gets to him.

This whole story has been so beautifully written so far. Your attention to sensory details is amazing and I love the nice easy flow each chapter seems to have so far.

I really wanted to show Harry and Hermione being very close friends. They've been friends for many years now and they've been through so much. At the same time, any boy and girl that age would certainly have thought about each other... ahem, that way. As for what's going to happen between Harry and Ginny, well, you'll just have to wait and see! It means so much to me that you mentioned the details of their surroundings. I worked very hard to keep them in the same physical area and to really bring out what's happening around them. Not for any particular reason other than it helps the reader to feel like they're present in the scene.

Don't worry, the last chapter should be up by the end of the week. I won't give any hints about how it works out, but the last sentence of chapter three gives some idea of Harry's state of mind in chapter four. Hope you like the ending!

Oh my! That last sentence is amazing. I got shivers when I read it. That whole scene was really lovely. I think you painted a picture of the silent mealtime perfectly and I adore seeing Hermione and Harry’s friendship expressed so honestly. You’re so good at sustaining the mood of your story, I really like it.

Oh! I'm so happy you liked it! Thank you for saying you liked the mood. I worked very hard to maintain it thoughout the story, so look for more in the next chapter. The next, and last, chapter is my favorite and I hope you like it, too.

The very last sentence is a transition into the next chapter... and Harry's mood. Can poor Harry be saved by ?

Thanks for the review. It means the world to me.

Thank you for saying it was real. I tend to mix in a little bit of outside experience with my (I wish) characters and so they aren't always exactly like canon. I'm glad you like them. Thanks for reviewing! The last chapter should be up later this week.

I absolutely loved this chapter and Harry and Hermione's conversation. It's a sign of their deep trust and friendship that they tell each other about their crushs. And it's a good sign considering their maturity that both of them realise it's nothing but good friendship between them - something which isn't worth less than love, but that many people seem to mix up. It's great how you let them both express their feelings towards Ron and Ginny, and reassuring each other about this.
I'm really looking forward to these conversations! Update soon please!

I'm so happy you liked the interaction between Harry and Hermione. I know that JKR never mentioned anything about feelings between them, but come one, they're teenagers! Anyone who was ever a teenager knows that boys and girls at least think about those things, even if they never act on them.

I really enjoyed your review. Thanks for taking time to let me know you liked my story! The last chapter will be up later this week, so keep your eyes open for it.
