Okay I'm here. Just read chapter 1 and like it already. Just this little bit puts the one-shot in context. I look forward to reading it all.
Thanks

New Zealand is amazing. Finally a fic about our beautiful country. (It's better than Aussie on many counts)

I know it's a horrible reason to be excited, but the recent news story with the trapped miners after the explosion in that mine in New Zealand totally made me want to read this again! I love all of your work, but this is definitely one of my favs!

OMG, I saw that on the news and thought about this story, too. So awful to be trapped like that.

I'm glad you remembered this story - it's been a long time!

It's the next great adventure for H/G - getting married. I wrote this before DH came out so a lot of it is AU, still, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm glad you liked it! I do think the first year of marriage is an important one, so it was fun to explore it with my two favorite characters. Thanks for reading!

The New Zealand Chronicles
I'm now back, and reading all of NZC from scratch after finishing on your LJ - and this is such a wonderful way to start! A lot of fanfics usually climax with Harry proposing to Ginny - it's so startling to see it in the very first chapter! I do like one line in particular here - about how Harry was willing to no longer belong to himself, but become her husband. That was just such a beautiful description of marriage. I also like Ginny's response - her bafflement at Harry not knowing how much she loved him. And of course your perfect Ginnyisms - "I'm saying I'll marry you, but the ring is part of the bargain".... "That was the right decision".... All beautiful touches. Harry proposing to Ginny is obviously one of the most romantic things an H/G writer gets to describe, and you manage this magnificently!

David, I totally missed this review! I don't know why but it didn't come through on my e-mail. Anyway, I'm glad you liked the opening - I purposefully made Ginny very young and eager and idealistic - traits that are tempered in the story but are still there and recognizable by the end.

I think proposals and weddings are the most difficult things in the world to describe because in one sense they are all the same and in another they are unique to those two people. Whew! I won't be signing up for that again! LOL. Not a very fluff writer thing to say, is it?

Looking forward to this journey. In a way, I am relieved that I don't have to go through the killing of V. Or at least not in this chapter. I am off to read the next chapter.

Is Harry already an Auror? Book 5 (Chap. 29, 'Career Advice') indicates 'training takes a further three years'. Never mind, you answered it -- 'I can stay in England and finish my Auror training'
Good start. I'll never understand women; Harry makes her dreams come true and what does Ginny , starts crying 'wrenching sobs' .
Nice little bit of tension with 'But now – if she accepted – she would no longer belong just to herself, she would be his wife'.
Sunday 29th October 2006 07:36The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
Yes, Harry doesn't understand why Ginny is crying either! LOL. Thanks for reading!

St. Mag, I love this. I've resisted reading fan fic lately. I didn't want to be pulled in, but I couldn't resist yours forever, so today I relented. I'm glad I did. It was just what I needed.

Oh, Kelley! I've missed your reviews! I'm glad you're taking a little time for yourself and doing some reading. This is the first time I've written H/G in almost two years (and I did it to cheer myself up) so I'm thrilled to have you read.

Woooohee! New Zealand! Take me there!
Oh. Yes. Typically great writing St. Mags. A nicely moving completely non-mawkish proposal scene. Loved the "I'm not going alone," and "Don't you take my ring back," !!!
Two comfortably stubborn people who have no trouble being real with each other about the stuff that matters.
And I really am excited about the NZ connection! Yahoo!

I'm glad you're looking forward to NZ - the problem is that it took me seven chapters to get them out of England! No worries, though. I have lots of fun adventures planned for Part II. Thanks for reading! I'm not going to post this at SQ, so I'm glad you're reading here.

I just love this story! Can I sheepishly admit that I've already read it on your livejournal? I haven't been able to figure out how to register with them without starting my own journal. Admittedly, I haven't tried that hard. LOL! Just how many places am I going to have to register to read/review your stories?!
Sunday 17th September 2006 11:02The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
Hi Shannon! You don't have to have a LJ account to comment on my journal. I allow anonymous comments. I think you have to have a journal of your own to register - but you don't have to write anything in it. What's good about your own journal is that you will get replies to your comments by e-mail and you don't have to hunt around for the journals you're watching - they just appear on your friends page.

Anyway, I'm glad you like this story. Sherry finally convinced me to put it here. I didn't think there would be that many people interested in an H/G go off to NZ story. LOL. And I still can't believe it.

Don't worry, I'm only at SQ, PS, and SIYE and Live Journal. LOL. I'm everywhere aren't I?

So nice to see you again and stop by my journal anytime!

Oh wow. That was awesome. It's made me feel all warm and bubbly inside. I want someone like Harry to ask me to marry him now!!

That was really, really well written. Thanks so much, i loved it.

Ahh! What a great story! And now you're going to make me wait for the rest, I suppose. Oh well, so be it.

I love the description you used at the beginning, it was so... so accurate. I can really imagine and feel what Ginny was feeling. Being forced to wait in line and then walk (or run, as the case may be) to the gates.

Your dialogue is very good. This may be hard to match in your upcoming chapters because you've set the standard so high! I loved how they seemed to not even have to talk that much. Just being in each other's presence said more than mere words could say. The emotion of both Harry and Ginny is so well portrayed that I couldn't help but smile. I mean the smile of one who truly knows that Harry and Ginny are meant to be together and finally WILL be!

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tale with us! I can't wait for the rest!

I do enjoy good dialogue, so thanks for pointing that out. I'm pretty confident about H/G - but I'm working hard on getting my friends down under to sound right. This first part is set in England, so you're going to get a lot of Weasley love - then we're off on an adventure. Updates should come fairly quickly. Thanks for reading!

Also I read St.Margaret's and I think is a brilliant idea to write Harry's and Ginny's POV in different fics.
Thanks.

Ahh, and now that I'm done writing, I finally get the chance to read this one. My heart lurched for poor Harry when he thought Ginny was crying because she didn't want to marry him. Those Dursleys did a number.
Friday 15th September 2006 06:59The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
Are you done with your entire story? Wow. You must be exhausted. Every week without fail you have a new chapter out. I'm so impressed. I'm glad you liked this. Yes, our Harry's been through a lot. More Dursley stuff will come up for him later on the story, since he no longer has that pesky Voldy guy to worry about.

The New Zealand Chronicles
Woohoooo! Wonderful, wonderful - what a treat! This also reminds me that you have another story I need to read... What can I say, you have such a wonderful way with words, I know this story is going to be a thrill to read. All the little details - spending too much time getting ready, Filch's torturing of the students (what a pain in the neck that guy is), skipping down to the gates, running through the muddy puddles - and there HE is. And plans with special places very often don't work out as planned. I know, but it is still wonderful and special and something to remember for life. Very, very sweet, but really - I can't expect anything less forom the Queen of Fluff, can I? Thank you, Mary. I loved it! Now I'm off to check Sherylyn's companion piece.

Cheers!

HI Berte! I was just talking about you yesterday when Bill put the Salmon Fishing in Norway brochure on my computer screen. LOL I'm so glad to hear from you. I hope you had a great summer. I'll send you an e-mail one of these days and tell you about mine. I finished the Artist's Way course and I'm going to start Vein of Gold very soon.

I *would* like you to read The Frog Prince. It's not fluffy, but it's very romantic. And it's short - only four chapters! Thanks so much for reading. and it's so good to hear from you, my dear.

Wow! I'm so excited! You're starting another story!! (Well, technically, you're not just starting it, but you know what I mean.) I love this so far. As always. And I'd really like to read the one from Harry's view that your beta wrote! Just so you know, unless it's my computer, I don't think your link worked. It says "For Harry’s POV on all this, look here" but there's no link on "here" and I'm not sure of your beta's name so... Yeah. Just wanted to make sure you were aware! Again, it may be my computer. Wouldn't be the first time. I love the ring! It's so perfect for them. And I'm already interested in what New Zealand is going to be like! Can't wait for the next chapter!!

Well, i live in Auckland, so itll be interesting seeing what special details you put into it. Where is the school going to be? Auckland is the biggest city, but a south island one would be a better choice. not as crowded. also, having a sept-june school year in NZ is just weird, so i wouldnt recommend it.
Friday 15th September 2006 06:45The New Zealand Chronicles (Author Response)
Oh, all the Kiwis are coming out of the woodwork to comment! Excellent. Yes, I'm setting them up on the South Island. Sort of in middle like where Queenstown is. Right now I'm working out a magical history of NZ - with the giants and then the magical Maoris and then the Europeans coming on the scene. I don't know how much of that will be in the story - but it's nice to know for my own info.

This is just a one year course - so it's not really "school." H/G will be in NZ from Sept. to Sept. It just fit with my timeline best. Be warned that this is magical NZ (based on the real one) so I will be making up names, etc . . But I hope to capture the spirit of your wonderful country. Thanks for reading!
