This continues to be an engrossing read, as you can tell by my continuous reading of it. I am so very impressed and I love how Ginny is the key, which is what I believed all along and then was shocked when I read the book .

Another amazing chapter.

I'm on pins and needles. It can't end like this. I hope they can reverse whatever effect this has on Harry. Poor Pansy...she got what she deserved.

Yet more excitement, to say the least. You've built nicely on what you began in the last chapter and added more than enough reason to doubt the good guys that the tension, drama and flow really picked up. And I really like that you've rooted the danger in unexplored canon. Good going -- very Jo-like.

Now, with the way you've positioned all your pieces, I'm finding myself focusing on Snape as the potential wild card. I know that if it were me writing from this point in the story (not that I'd flatter myself to think I could ever write a story good enough to create a dramatic point like this), this would be a moment where I couldn't resist a major twist, having Snape show his hidden allegence to the good.

I can't help thinking that Snape's attempt to help Pansy and Voldemort's "soft" line are subtle hints that you might be thinking along the same lines, so I'm going to hazard a guess that the potion's a fake, something just strong enough to fool Voldemort. Of course, your Snape has done little to make one doubt his loyalty to the Dark Lord so I might be totally off base. I'm sure I'll enjoy how this unfolds either way.

One other thing I especially appreciated in this chapter:
Lying on the floor, useless and discarded, was what was left of Pansy’s wand. It had transformed into one of the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes’ rubber chickens.

Maybe I just have an odd sense of humor, but that just broke me up. It's clever, ironic and in such stark contrast to everything else happening in that scene that it just struck me as a completely hilarious thing for you to do. Well done.

Anyway, thanks for another interesting chapter. I'm definitely excited to see how this all plays out.

Heh -- you fooled me a bit: I was almost certain that the person who showed up unexpectedly was not actually Pansy, but was either Hermione or Ginny, Polyjuiced & acting the role of Pansy

Aye, the Draught of Living Death seems apropos here.

Quite the cliffhanger, there.... Well done (of course)!

OH MY GOD!!
I'm screaming right now. Screaming at the top of my lungs!! OH MY GOD! How could you leave us like that? Of course, that's exactly what I would have done, but....

HOW COULD YOU??

I've been reading all the chapters in one go, but I've been so anxious to read the next chapter, that I haven't reviewed. I suppose, in a way, that's almost as good of a compliment as a review! I just couldn't get away!

I LOVED this chapter. It was probably one of my favorites, aside from Christmas! It had me on the edge of my seat and I really did start screaming at the end *blushes*. I get a little carried away at times.

My all-time favorite part:

Dobby, who had remained silent during the entire exchange stood in front of Malfoy scowling, his arms folded across his chest.

“He kicked me!” Draco said incredulously.

“And Dobby will kick the bad Malfoy boy again if he keeps speaking about Harry Potter that way,” Dobby said.

Ha ha! That was hilarious and I loved it!

oh please update soon! I can't bear to wait any longer than I already have (which is 5 minutes)

Eagerly awaiting the next chapter,

Delfino

“Great. Another one,” Malfoy mumbled, rubbing his leg and rolling his eyes.

Oh oh oh! Upon umpteenth re-read, I have a suspicion that the human transfiguaration that Ginny was trying to study will come in handy in trying to get Harry away from there. Turn him into a comb or something light enough to carry in her back pocket. Was it this fic that had Harry saying that Ginny\'s back pocket wasn\'t a bad place to be? If so, was it a clue? Hmm...oh please update! It\'s only Sunday and I\'m already going crazy...

I got a chance to get on here right quick. I know you're in the middle of a move, so I'll make this short. i left in another reply to you why I've been missing in action, but I couldn't let another chapter go by without a review.

This was an absolutely amazing chapter. I can't wait to see how this all ends. you are doing a fantastic job with this novel. I'm so proud to have been along for the ride.

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what happens when Draco finds out about Pansy. I hope Ginny gets to Harry in time.

That stone. It is going to somehow tell Ginny were to go or something along those lines isn't it? But very good. And poor Draco. Wow. I just said that. But the poor thing is is the Pansy thing. When he learns about it. Very good chapter. Kept me on my toes the whole time.

Oh. My. Word! The descriptions of fear that you gave to Harry and the panic to the rest of them back at Hogwarts made my hair stand on end. I feel claustraphobic for Harry at this point...! I'm wondering, first and foremost, when you will update again. Surely, you don't expect us all to wait a whole week for an update....That's just as cruel and criminal as Voldy himself! Speaking of Voldemort, you wrote him brilliantly. The way I read him, I imagined him to be quite calm yet so sinister you could feel the very essence of Hell about him. Everything about him -- from his perfectly manicured, rotting nails, to his snake-like face, to his warm breath against Harry's skin -- made me absolutely tremble with fear and anticipation. (Of course I'm also looking forward to seeing Harry's eyes close for what Voldy hopes is the last time... I know it won't be the last time b/c there are several more chapters to go and Voldy just has to die...)

I wonder though, since we are nearing the end, what has become of the Burrow? Unless I misread. the only reason they've all avoided it was because Wormtail spied on them all and reported back, But Wormtail is gone now, and Hogwarts is under siege. Surely the gang will have to have somewhere to take Harry so they can brew the anecdote, yeah? You spent entirely too long on making Harry make the Burrow's wards perfect for it not to come back into play...I think.

I also think these next few weeks are going to be absolute torture! Feel free to ignore the once a week updates trend and update more often... Can't wait!

I'm very naughty and don't review every chapter, but I do look forward to your weekly updates.

My jaw literally dropped when the pseduo-casket appeared. OH MY GOD! How incredibly morbid! I think I was more horrified than Harry! I'm trying to remember if Snape is playing both sides in your story or not... I'm hoping that he is so that maybe he'll be the last one left with Harry and can either give him the antidote or maybe brewed the potion wrong. Why do I always find myself counting on Snape to save Harry at the last minute?

I'm really hoping that Ron and Co. make it to Harry in time! I can't wait for the next chapter to find out!

.....Ooh!....This is gettin' good!

I don't even know how to describe how I feel...
I guess it's pretty obvious since I was screaming at the screen while reading it. Everytime it would go back to Harry, I would panic. Then when it went back to Ginny, Ron, and Hermione I would think "HURRY!! PLEASE HURRY!"

I don't wanna wait another week! I have to know now!

Okay..I had to steel myself to read this chapter..I always get freaky when Harry is in deep trouble. GREAT Voldemort..puts me in mind of JKR's comments in response to his winning the best villian poll in the BigBadRead.
She said she was busy giving him the legroom to be horrible that he's been yearning for since GOF.

Favorite line:

"Harry smiled humorlessly. “I’m just saving my lines for the big show. No need to waste them on the warm-up act.”"

I even smiled in the midst of my terror.

Good luck with the move. Will be waiting patiently for Harry's next move.

I'll trust you to have some ingenious way to sort this out - Snape adminestering the antidote immediatly after, or something of the sort. You've always given us happy endings before, and I hope this won't be different. Brilliant chapter, though, very exciting.

Ugh! So good! I was on the edge of my seat, gripping it, with my eyes glued to the screen. I am so worried for Harry! I really want to see him kick Voldemort's . I am very, very worried however, that its going to come at a great cost, perhaps of another loved one.

But, this was really a phenomenal chapter. I love how you switch scenes. it's always so smooth, logical, and attention-grabbing. the dialogue between harry, voldemort, and the deatheaters was great. Voldemort looked appropriately frustrated, which is absent in alot of stories. I would think that, by now, he would be sick and tired of trying to kill harry. (sucks for him! ha!) I do feel bad for pansy, however. I know she did a bad thing, but to a certain extent, I understand her desperation.

There is a liking for malfoy and dudley kindling in my heart, for some really absurd reason.

I cannot imagine how molly will react when she realizes all that has happened, and hagrid's dedication is touching.

Snape deserves to rot along with Voldemort. I dont' care how much hope others may have for him. He has pity only for those that readily resemble him.

Well, enough is enough. Fantastic story. I am so excited for the next update. The best fanfiction I have EVER read.

Good luck with the move!

Saturday 30th September 2006 06:03The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! Yes, I agree, I think Voldemort is very frustrated by his lack of ability to really get Harry. He likes to think himself so above anyone else, and I'm sure it galls him that this kid keeps messing with his plans. I'm thrilled you're enjoying it.

Wow, what a fabulous chapter! The Draught of Living Death was a great idea. I was very surprised (though pleasantly) that you'd used it. Really intersting. I am, however, a bit confused with it. Is Voldemort going to wake Harry from it at all? Or is Harry just going to be 'conked out' the whole time? (I love Harry-Voldie-DEs stuff, so I'm a bit worried that Harry's gonna be out for three chapters or so. D

The Draught of Living Death is a NEWT-level potion, and its antidote needs to be administered immediately upon completion of brewing. That means it would have to be brewed right here in this room in order to awaken you before attempting an escape.

Could you explain this bit? I had a blonde moment.... :p

Friday 29th September 2006 16:34The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, well than I find it very ironic that I can explain it to you since I am blonde, lol. Voldemort wants to immobilize Harry - basically killing him without really killing him. He can bury him alive and his Horcrux is never destroyed. The antidote to the Draught has to be given to the victim as soon as it is brewed. It couldn't be brewed at Hogwarts and then brought to Harry. So, someone would have to brew the potion next to Harry, or get him out of there before reviving him after he swallows that potion. Does that help?

What a chapter! Great job of interleaving the two story threads—it really notched up the tension!

Voldemort was really well done—very reminiscent of resurrected LV in the graveyard in GoF. The dialogue between Harry and Voldemort was terrific.

Pansy’s fate wasn’t surprising, though Snape’s apparent concern for her was. I had the impression that your Snape was only interested in one person—himself. Guess his little universe also includes his favorite Slytherins. You have Snape as so awful, he’s not too far from his master. The last scene, the struggle between Harry and Snape in administering the draught, was so horribly great—it was horrible to imagine, but also so well written!

Ginny has the ability to find Harry with her necklace’s help. Harry: “I have the matching stone, and it’s supposed to help me find you if we’re separated.” Yes, I went back to the Christmas chapter to review what exactly the stones could do. Now she has to figure out how to tap into that ability. Of course, even after finding him (living dead in a coffin—how awful!), there’s the little complication of reversing that evil potion.

Best wishes on the move!

I banged my fist so hard in my desk that I amazed It didn't leave a dent.
Taking some of your own words " if an evil cliffhanger could be captured, this was exactly what it would look like"
I definitely don't have any faith in Snape not here not in canon, but it is really amazing how this character can keep the faith of the readers in him no matter what.
I'm really happy that you are focusing on the love between Harry and Ginny in order to save him rather than in Snape´s loyalties.
I know a lot of people tell you that this is the best fic they had ever read and after a couple of hundred of that it may loose the excitement, but you are really a gifted writer, your fics are better than a lot of best selling books out there and yet you have give us the opportunity of enjoy this great work for free.

WOW! What a chapter! I love how you've done the "cut sequences" - I think it raises the anxiety level another notch, to see things from both sides.

Somehow, I saw Pansy biting the dust... don't know why, but it was just a gut feeling after the last chapter. And what makes them so sure that Harry's at the ministry? Also have to wonder whether or not you'll have Snape "redeeming himself" somehow in the next chapter...

Waiting on pins and needles for the next installment!

Thanks! I thought the back and forth worked well, too. I'm glad you liked it. They think he's at the Ministry because they still suspect he's left to confront Voldemort on his own, and he told them that's where he planned on finishing it. Of course, that's not where he is...

of all the cliffhangers you could possibly think of... how can you possibly, write your way out of this? I mean, you're not really the type to use some stupid deus ex machina to pull harry out of trouble, you're too good a writer for that. You've managed so far to get harry out of trouble while being entirely credible, that's what makes this story so good. How are you gonna do this? you did something like freezing the screen of a movie a second before a character falls to his death on a field of very nasty protruding spikes, so to speak (if you know what i mean, english isn't my mother tongue, so i don't really know how to correctly formulate the mental image i have ^^ )

Well, i'm certain you'll find a way. You haven't disappointed so far.

Heh, thanks! The hints for how Harry will get out of it are already there...but it'll be a bit of out of the frying pan and into the fire

How freakin' sad! I can't believe you're going to leave it like this and watch as we all go mad, pulling out our hair! How awful! I can't take the suspence! My guess is somehow that bracelet is connected to the necklace and Ginny'll be the hero, but before you let me find out, I'm going to go crazy in waiting for the next chapter!!
Friday 29th September 2006 07:44The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, thanks much, and you're definitely on the right track! Don't go crazy, I'll get the next one done as soon as I can.

Intense! I can't even put my thoughts into words. reeling is coming to mind. Great job. How is Harry going to get out of this? I certainly can't see the answer. Needless to say - it'll be a tough wait for the next chapter.

I hope the move goes uneventfully for you. I still don't know how you can keep these updates so regular with all the chaos in your life. It's definetly appreciated!!

You have me sitting on pins & needles and nothing is left of my fingernails! You're doing your job well!! Thanks! I'm anticipating the next chapter with evil glee.
Friday 29th September 2006 07:43The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! Harry is reeling, too. The move is driving me insane, and trust me, if these chapters weren't written for the most part already, it wouldn't be getting done at all. Fixing them up for posting is the only thing keeping me sane, lol.

Oh my, here comes my panic now. You do this to us on so many levels. It is amazing what your wonderful mind can come up with. I can only hope that my poor old heart can put up with the panic and terror that I am experiencing. Good luck with your move. And please come back to us as soon as possible. One shouldn't have to deal with this panic on a long term basis. It's just not good for someone my age.
Friday 29th September 2006 05:57The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Aww, sorry! I promise to do my best not to let the panic last for long. Just think - Harry is feeling that same terror and panic tenfold! One of my prebetas told me to be very afraid if I ever came across the darker side of my personality, lol.

I'm running around the room screaming! This is bloody awful!! How in the world is he going to get out of this?! But I'm sure you have an answer don't you?! Please be quick with the next chapter!!!

Snort. I have the funniest image in my head of you running around the room, lol. And I'm SO proud to have done it! Hang in there. (Easy for me to say since I DO know what happens next).

Oh S. H. one. T!
How the blazes is he going to get out of that!?

The thought you put in behind the Draught of Living Death is scarey! To quote movie Ron, "Brilliant, but scarey!" I had been expecting something more like his captivity in PoE. I really didn't see this coming.

Anyway, I suspect that something about the stone he is wearing and Ginny's necklace is going to play a role later, but beyond that I am at a loss for decent words. Without trying to sound pushy, I seriously hope the next chapter is put up soon. I can't wait to read it.

Good luck with the move. I think I am going to go and bang my head into a brick wall now for all the good it will do Harry.
Friday 29th September 2006 05:53The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
It doesn't look good for our Harry now, does it? Thanks! You're on the right track with the necklace, and I really tried NOT to make this the same as PoE, so I'm glad you think that worked.

I'll get the next one up as soon as I can, but the move might slow me down a bit. We'll see how it goes.

Oh - you are so mean to Harry! (and I\'m still of the Snape will be semi good in the end camp so I hope he comes through here)

I\'m switching between your stories at the moment so trying to keep them straight is hard at times - but I love your writing.

Keep it coming
Friday 29th September 2006 05:49The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks much! You still have faith in Snape? Even after everything he's done in this fic? Wow. And, yes, I do tend to put Harry through it - but I also love him to bits, lol. Weird, huh?

GOODNESS!! The end is certainly coming. I have to say that the Draught idea is brilliant. I havent seen any post-HBP fics that include it, and now that you put the idea in my head, it seems quite possible that it could be used in the 7th book.

Well, it was a great chapter once again, I can't wait for the next one and I'll be anticipating the update email when you add it.

P.S. You shouldn't panic about this ending, you're a great writer and basically anything you post will be good hehe

Aww, thanks much! I hope you'll enjoy it. And yes...the end is really coming fast now. I'm glad you liked the idea of the Draught. I know I'm not the first to use it, but I definitely think canon has hinted at it so much that it's a real possibility.

Voldemort was truly evil - I could feel it dripping off him as he spoke to Harry. I feel it is a sad reflection on my part that I feel no sympathy for the death of Pansy - I must be getting hard and bitter in my old age.
I have an unending faith in Snape and hope that this is one of those stories/moments when his potion making is off and instead of the Draught of Living Death it will give Harry the strength/ability to get the hell out of this almost impossible situation.
You have left the "cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers (or at least for this chapter), and I applaud you for this. It is what makes your writing so wonderful to read and to look forward to.
(I would have listened to Charlie's dragon story - I think he is one of the Weasleys that will die - we don't know enough about him and that will make it easier.)
Friday 29th September 2006 05:45The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Yeah? You thought Voldemort was evil and not cartoonish? YAY! I was worried about that. I'm a bit worried about all you people still having faith in though. I wonder if our faith in him in canon is really excusing too much. I, too, still have canon faith...but this response is making me question it, lol.

Ugh! I'm really hoping that Snape turns out good and has not brewed the potion correctly on purpose. Hey, a girl can hope, can't she? I was on the edge of my seat while reading the entire chapter. I love how Ginny figured out Harry's plan (even though he was unable to pull it off). Ron and Hermione in the broom cupboard too...hilarious. I'm going to be silently repeating a mantra that Harry live (as I have since JKR's comments) and not by having the Draught of Living Death forced down his throat. I love how you bring all the little details from the books into your story and make them major plot points. It's all so feasible. Your story is simply lovely!
Friday 29th September 2006 05:42The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks so much! You go ahead and have all the (misguided) faith in Snape that you want. Snigger. I'm delighted to hear you were on the edge of your seat. That's exactly what I was hoping for.

You just striked fear in my heart in a way I don't ever remember hapenning. The fate you're having Harry go through is so absolutely terrifying, that I almsot think death is a better alternative... And Voldemort's plan to take down Hogwarts.... when he issued the order he seemed so sure of himself... so sure that there was no doubt whatsoever that the death eaters would succeed. I know, I know, it's not the first attack he's commanded, and his Death eaters have screwed up loads of times before, but somehow you just drained all hope out of me. Seriously. I don't know where you get all this talent from, and I'm telling you you just have the most amazing control over your readers.... well me at least. You have such a mind-bogling way with words its incredible, and I'm almost jealous. Though I wish you didn't make Harry's fate so dire... I literally had to stop reading... and there were many, many frequent pauses with my hands over my face, particularly when Snape said '“If you’d paid any attention at all during your time in my class, you would have already realized which potion I’m brewing,”'. I realized right then that you were talking about the Draught of the living dead.... and when you confirmed it I swear I practically had a panic attack. But honestly... I'm so tense right now. I think that that's my biggest fear though... being burried alive, or locked in a box.... or being alive but not living. I am so freaking out right now and please just get Harry out of that box!

I've said it once, I've said it a million times: AMAZING WORK!

Wow! Your review left me giddy, lol! I'm so pleased you enjoyed it and it created such tension. I worked on that, and I think it was making each successive scene shorter and shorter that helped. I hope so, anyway.

Just take some deep breaths - don't underestimate Harry, and remember...there are still six chapters to go.

Oh my gosh. WHY? Oh no. Oh no.

I really hope Snape isn't evil and purposely forgot an ingredient in that potion or something.

Well, fantastic job, as usual. I'm just dying for the next chapter!
