Mind, I think they got as good as they gave! The one I feel sorry for is poor Ron!

A clever idea and experty written, as always. As someone with two sisters, I felt for Ron though!

Quite delightfully done....and you've managed a very nice ending scene, too. That's something I don't often see with one-shots.

Thanks! Yeah--I originally saw this as a typical fluffy one-shot where, once True Love has been revealed, as is well with the world... but once Ron came and went (poor boy), I realized that there was some unresolved stuff hanging in the air--and that it had the potential for an interesting scene.

Again, thanks!

Very cute story. I like the little surpise element of Hermione being Ginny . I also like how Harry turned the prank on Ginny. Poor Ron .

The initial misdirection would probably been a bit more effective if we didn't all know that the House Rules here forbid certain things, but you certainly had me wondering what you were up to. I can't help but question, though, if Canon-Harry would have been quite so quick on the uptake (no doubt that Ginny was spot-on the whole way). And poor Ron, scarred for life ...

Yes, indeed, poor Ron! I feel almost sorry for what I put him through...

Almost. ;-)

My rationale for having Harry pick up on what was going on so quickly was that, in addition to performing an athletic maneuver that Ginny is infinitely more likely to pull of than Hermione, Ginny committed a series of small mistakes that I'd like to think prepared Harry subliminally: she cut straight to the point with Harry, something Hermione never does, she knelt on the ground without any fuss or preamble... she dropped a book on the ground for goodness sake!

Even so, your point is well taken; consider it poetic license.

And it's been interesting--I've posted the fic on a couple of non-H/G sites--Fiction Alley and The Quidditch Pitch; so far the reaction has been essentially the same. Clearly the fact that I write mostly H/G (with occasional guest stars) gives the game away. Still, it's gratifying that I get as much of a response as I do. And I have to say that I'd hate to have a hard-core H/Hr read this without any forwarning--if they survived, they might take out a contract on me!

It's a great community--some of my favorite fic authors are involved, so I feel honored to be in the mix!

Well, it's a prank on us too. But as these are H/G sites we know that there must be some justification. I love this story and this version is even better than the catchmysnitch's one or maybe I read it more attentively.

No kidding! Though I do feel rather badly for Hermione--she isn't exactly cut out for this kind of thing!

And I'm glad this made you smile!

that was a rotten trick they did. I mean, it's okay to play it on Harry, he's not that emotional, but playing it on Ron is just so mean.

Well, I do feel a bit guilty for putting Ron through that myself. But I honestly thing that Hermione didn't think of it as in any way a trick--she was simply trying to help everyone. Then she got a bit... carried away.

Ginny, on the other hand, definitely knew it was a trick, and a rotten one at that. But she did it anyway. After all, anything's possible if you've got the nerve!
