Excellent -- seems you've captured the mood quite well.

I do rather wonder how many innocents were killed or injured in the "mob mentality" after Tom's death, though.

And the "Weasley scars" make an interesting touch; I expect we'll hear/read more of them later. :-}

I'm so thrilled to see that Harry's waking up ... life is returning to normal. Well, actually, it's going to return to better than normal, as Moldyshorts is no longer around to cause trouble!

And I was just about rolling on the floor reading about all the Weasleys keeping their scars ... that was so perfect, and I could see them all doing something exactly like that. I'm just pleased they all made it out alive.

I am, however, incredibly sad that this story is coming to an end. I've loved it.

I signed up for an account and gave out my real email address. It is very scary as any and all respect my friends have for me could be lost with a simple search now. It is worth it to review you directly on your site again though. I'm going to blame this on too much alchool. You are an amazing writer and I wish you nothing but the greatest of success in your future independent writing adventures. Oh, and I can't wait for the conclusion of the Seventh Horocrux. Your final chapters are nothing short of brilliant, I've loved them in the last two stories you've written and I can't imagine not loving them in this final novel-length fanfiction you have written.

I was worried there for a little while. But, I knew Harry had to wake up eventually. That was so good. And it is nice to know that everyone survived. Well, on the good side. And I like that you have everyone keep scars. That was pretty cool. I can't wait to see how everyone reacts to Harry being awake. Tears and hugs everywhere!!! Once again. That was really good. And a very happy ending to this chapter. Only 3 more chapters? Wow! It is going to be kinda sad because I, and other people, have been following this story for a long time. Can't wait!!!

I really enjoyed the Weasleys all wanting scars and Hermione’s disappointment that she didn’t have one. I saw this in two ways—showing the solidarity of Harry’s adopted family and their support of him and also as a symbol of the emotional scars suffered by virtually all the survivors.

I’m looking forward to Harry’s recovery, physically and emotionally. It seems that you’re setting up for a long, difficult healing process, which would be expected considering all that has occurred over the past year. I imagine that Harry will not fully recover, ending up with a lame arm or with mental problems (as in Lady Tonks’ lovely story “Teatime in the Garden”—have you read that?), but that would be okay because it would be realistic and he’d have Ginny’s love to get him through it.

Best wishes to you in your original writing! Please let us know your new pseudonym; I look forward to reading your future works.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the scars. That whole section just sort of took on a life of its own. You'll get to see Harry working on his recovery next chapter. I can't keep the fact that I want Harry not only to survive, but to LIVE a secret. I just want more for him.

And yet you still can make it into a cliffhanger even here at the near-end. I can't wait to be relieved in the next chapter. I sure do hope that Harry wakes back up with full functionality. I'm totally ready for more and fluff in the next chapter. I'm a fluffy kind of person though. Well, I'm off to enjoy my new fluff.... bye.

Boy, I wish there was a way to respond to your response! Yeah, what I was trying to say was it was confusing because you didn't say when Ron woke up. It went from Hermione talking about when Ron woke up to Ron being awake and never saying when it happened.

Okay, now I've confused myself!

Again, very wonderful. I love the details you put in each chapter, each paragraph, each sentence. Simply brilliant.

I'm very glad the remaining Weasleys survived. I gasped each time one came into the hospital room. I held my breath when Fred entered. I knew something must've been up from the serious look on his face. I covered my mouth when he said George lost his leg, but I was happy he's alive. He's my favorite twin. Thanks for keeping him alive.

Really Melinda, even if you won't write a sequel to this, at least do some post TSH one shots. I just can't let this story go yet. I'm really going to miss it. You've done an excellent job.

I really loved how you didn't do the whole, Harry wakes up and exchanges "I love you's" with Ginny and then everything is all good. I found this scenario, with Harry disoriented so believable and really enjoyed reading this instead. I haven't reviewed before, but just had to after this and since the fic is wrapping up. I've enjoyed this fic since I've started reading it and I can't wait until the next chap is up...soon I hope! Possible this week again? hehehe

Another great chapter...I hate to see this story end...I've loved following this story and everything I've read of your works. The bit about the Weasleys comparing scars, too funny.

I think we all know that if Harry survives, he will probably be injured. I like what you have done here, the slow awakening, the disorientation, the panic...I can see how this could happen to someone who had been through the trauma that Harry has been through over the past few years, especially the final battle. I love Ginny's protectiveness. I guess I'm surprised that the Healers did not take a bit more time, understanding that someone coming out of a coma would be frightened by suddent movements, etc.

Looking forward to the next chapter...soon I hope!

Thanks! The Healers are people, too - and I think the idea of being the one to "treat" and bring back the saviour of the Wizarding world would probably override a lot of sensitivity.

The Seventh Horcrux
Definately the best chapter in this story.

When each of the Weaselys came in, I teared up more and more. I started trying to fight back tears when Ginny and Mrs. Weasley were talking. It reminds you of how comforting a mother can be. When they started wondering where Mr. Weasley and Fred were...You don't know how panicked I got. I honestly thought that Fred might not make it...But all the Weasleys are alive nonetheless. I can't believe that Bill is going to be a father! What Fleur told Greyback was amazing (although I kind of ruined it for myself because I glanced down and just happened to see
ze fazer of my bebe
...)

As for Hagrid, I'm so happy that he is alive too. And Grawp saved him! I love Grawp! Although I have a feeling that J.K. Rowling may indeed kill Hagrid off...I can't imagine what Harry Potter would be like without Hagrid. It wouldn't be the same.

That last scene with Harry...I will only tell you this: I have never cried harder while reading a happy(ish?) scene. The way he reacted made so much sense, because I know I would probably panic the exact same way (especially if the last things I remember are being captured and then killing Voldemort.)

The last sentence is my all time favorite.
Harry would come home to the Burrow, and all of them would see to it that he finally got all the positive attention he so deserved.

And Harry does deserve it.

And last, but not least: The scars.
Perfect. Absolutely perfect. The Weaselys will all have scars to remember what happened and to remember to never let it happen again. George and Hermione have some different types of scars, though, but they still remind them of the same thing.

This story is brilliant and I'm dissappointed that it will soon come to an end...but I hope you'll still keep coming up with stories, even if they are one-shots. I'll always read them!

I like it.. Its very realistic. A lot of fanfictions would have Harry wake up, kiss Ginny and be fine and live happily ever after, but you're really good at adding the suffering, the pain, everything that makes the good endings sweet and not boring. I loved it! I'm really glad that no one from the main circle died, especially Hagrid, a lot of people kill him off but he is one of my favourite characters. cant wait for the next one.

The Seventh Horcrux
Interesting choice to do this chapter from Ginny's pov, and it worked nicely as a counter-balance to the previous chapter: the dead and the living, from Harry's and Ginny's pov. You handled the dialogue very well, giving each character a decent amount of space, but still keeping the chapter a reasonable length. And even though this was mostly a feel-good chapter, the fact that you threaded the worry over various Weasleys, as well as Harry, throughout the story kept it from being syrupy.

I do have one criticism, though. As a non-native English speaker, I feel the need to speak out for Fleur, whose accent you portray just shy of ludicrous. I think the issue is that, if English IS your first language, you don't understand the challenges we non-natives face. The "th"+vowel sounds are tricky for us. So I often use a harsh "z" instead of a soft one, and will say "zey" instead of "they". Similarly, I'll use a harsh "s" and sound like "sink" rather than "think." But pronnounciation is really all there is. I have never once been so confused as to switch letters, so I always say "some" not "zome", and "so", not "zo". And, if you'll re-read the books, you'll notice that so does Fleur. She really is most discriminate with her z's. :-)
Tuesday 17th October 2006 19:56The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! I do like to write from Ginny's POV on occasion. As for Fleur, well, I did try to not make every S a Z, but that it is how it sounds. It doesn't mean anything, just the sound. My dad speaks with a very thick accent, and even after over 50 years in this country, that accent is still as strong.

Very Good! I do love these ending chapters. I really enjoyed the Weasleys comparing scars. That was a hoot!

What dastardly deeds are Draco & Dudley going to devise? It seems like you could write a sequel just based on those two!!

I'm really anxious to find out the repercussions for Harry. You know, if he has to live with a bad arm or such - that's not a bad outcome for the ordeal.

I'm going to be so disappointed when this story is completed. Of course, I'm plan on reading it through again in one go - but after that.. You are my alltime favorite author. If I had to recommend only one author - you would be that one! Hands down!

Thanks again for sharing your wonderful, creative, angst-ridden with great romance mind!

I have been enjoying this story, as I do all of yours.
But this bit had me confused.
“Mr. and Mrs. Weasley,” Hermione said, finally awake. “You’re all right! Ron will be so happy to see you all here and safe. He was so worried.”“Where’s Fred?” Ron asked, rubbing his eyes. He and Hermione had been whispering, and Ginny surmised that Hermione had been filling him in about everyone else.

You never actually mentioned Ron waking up. It jumped straight from Hermione waking up to Ron talking.

Looking forward to the final chapters!
Tuesday 17th October 2006 19:51The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
No, she said Ron WILL be so happy because he's still asleep. Then, Bill and Fleur burst into the room, and that wakes up Ron. Sorry if that was confusing.

So I think all these little snippets about Dudley being curious about how powerful Harry was are hints towards a sequel with Dudders as the new dark lord. It was a wonderful chapter, I loved everyone's reactions to everything that has happened to them in the past few days, I think everything was written well and was all very believable. Keep up the wonderful work and update soon!

I'm very happy about the details of each battle ... I feel like you did us another favor! What a great story, and the fact that you aren't just wrapping it up after Riddle is dead, this is nice. Can't wait to hear the rest and to learn Harry's reaction to the situation. Let's hope that Dudley isn't the next dark lord, although, it might be a funny short story!
Tuesday 17th October 2006 12:09The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! The one thing with fanfiction is that I'm always left wanting more. I tend to enjoy the aftermath more than the battle itself, and I've had others comment that they feel the same, so I'm going to try and give some more detail here. I hope you enjoy it.

YAY! Harry woke up! Although it's a bit disconcerting that he's scared of everyone but Ginny. 3 chapters left, you say? Don't tell me you're going to drag out his "reawakening"!

Another great chapter. Now that we've caught up on what happened to everyone - time for some serious H/G time, right?
Tuesday 17th October 2006 12:08The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Well, he's not so much scared of everyone else as he was alarmed of the way they were coming at him. Ginny did so gently, remember? Harry was merely disoriented. We've got some recovery time to go before we get to that h/g time

yay, been looking forward to this. For quite a while though, and especially since last chapter, i've been wondering how different this story will be with regards to the ending, compared to CotD. I hope you manage to pull something really nice out of your sleeve towards the end, but i know it won't be easy, because there's not really a lot of room for creativity. At least that's what i think. This chapter is just another logical step, no real surprises.

In any case, the ending here will feel infinitely more real than the countless other ones which basically have this moment in time as their starting point. And for me, that's really the most important thing. I'm looking forward to the next chapter, and it's strange to imagine not getting any more updates of this story in the near future. I can only hope that myth and legend's cursed is resumed by then, cos else there won't be any topquality stories to look forward to.
Tuesday 17th October 2006 12:05The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, I've been wondering myself how to make the ending different, lol. CotD is still my wish for an ending, so I'm sure you'll see similarities, but I tried to make it different. You'll have to let me know. I'll second the wish for Myth to update Cursed. I LOVE that story.

First off, thank you for not killing off any Weasleys! The loss of George's leg is awful but he's alive and that's wonderful. And Fleur - what a woman eh?! Awesome. It was so funny when the guys were all bragging about their scars - great! And I'm so glad you had Harry wake up at the end of the chapter and not make us wait until next time. Oh! ANd P.S.: because this review would seriously be missing it if I didn't say it: The whole scars thing was just absolutely the coolest thing you could have ever thought of to link the Weasleys like that! And the fact that they got it from the youngest ones... brilliant! I bet Ron felt absolutely wonderful!! And I love how Hermione felt left out... which is what I love about her; she's so brilliant, but she still has these little quirks that just make her so lovable and real! And the whole Bill and Fleur thing, and her protective streak of him, and her baby really cinched it for me in the teary-eyed factor!!

Now, wake Harry up (and heal him!) so everyone can truly celebrate!!!

Hee - thanks. I'm so happy with that scar bit, too. I don't know if I answered your question clearly in the last one. The scene with his parents happened right after the battle, but when he left, his body slipped unconscious and he's been aware of nothing since that scene with his mum. Does that help?

You managed to make me all emotional and teary. Again. Seriously you really don't need to be going to these author's "boot camps" because if there is one person who sure as heck knows what they're doing, it's definitely you. All I know is that you did an amazing job, and I think I would have killed you, (or at the very least boycotted your fiction, if there were any Weasley deaths. But you're too nice of a person to want to depress your readers like that!
Anywyas, this was le amazing, and I can't wait for the next chapter!! (Although, this fic is almost over, and I really don't want it to be!!!)

And I'm worried about Harry! Like, intensely. What if he loses his arm?? Was George losing his leg foreshadowing Harry losing his arm? Nerve damage is never good! But what's more worrisome is how Harry seems to be lost in his mind... Gah!
Oh and small question, when Harry woke up, did he wake up after he came back from talking to his family? Because he said 'Mum' so I'm thinking at that time he was coming back from his visit in limbo. So did his time with them take a week or something?

Brilliant work, as always!

Brilliant.

Once again you have captured the feeling of this scene so well. The little moments of relief finding out who is still alive, mingled with the fear about those still unheard of, and the worry over the injuries was really well done.

And the whole thing with Harry. You made his awakening touching and realistic. I must admit, though, if this chapter had been placed before the last one, I would have been incredibly worried about him.

I can't wait for the last 3 chapters. It has been brilliant following this story with you.

I have been checking my email at least once an hour today, and of course, when I go and watch tv for a couple hours, that is when you update hehe. I have to admit this is one of your best chapters. You were able to inform us with everyone's wellbeing as well as all of their emotions. I especially love your line, “Arthur!” her mother shouted, her voice cracking. She jumped from the chair and rushed into his arms. It was heart-wrenching it was so sweet. Plus I've had a pretty bad weekend so this story is exactly what i needed...
Cant wait for the next chapter!!

Thanks, I'm glad it helped with your bad week. I'm glad you related to Mrs. Weasley - I did, too, lol.

The Seventh Horcrux
Yay! I've been checking Phoenix Song constantly since yesterday, hoping that I'd see The Seventh Horcrux at the top of the list, lol. These last chapters have been absolutely brilliant. Poor Harry - I loved the way you wrote how he woke up though - because he is horribly emotionally damaged. Oh, and the Weasleys' and their scars - awesome. *sigh* I'm already waiting impatiently for your next update! lol.

Thanks! Yeah, Harry was out of it when he first awoke, but Ginny was there to keep those Healers in line, lol. More on his recovery next chapter.

Oh, almost forgot - love the scars! That had me rolling on the floor!

I also loved - “No, that’s Luna,” Ginny said, giggling. “She always looks that way.” Too funny!

The Seventh Horcrux
Another wonderful chapter! OBHWF (well, almost) - YEAH! I truly enjoyed seeing this one mostly through Ginny's eyes, and I loved how she channelled Molly when the healers came in and began working on Harry. She is my favorite Potter character by far. I am curious to see how Harry's recovery is going to go. I'm also curious about Draco's continued recovery. It's interesting how Dudley is so fascinated with the darker side of magic. Muggle-born or not, he would have been Slytherin!
I'm glad that your move went well, and I must say that I'm a tad jealous of your time at the ocean. I would be so inspired to write much more if I were in that setting. Oh well, enough daydreaming for one day!
See you next chapter!

Thanks! Hooray for a OBHWF, lol - even if they lose a member or two, I want the majority of them alive and happy, anyway. I'm glad you liked Ginny channelling Molly. She's definitely got her feisty side, but I think there's a lot of compassion there, as well. You'll get to see more of both Harry and Draco in the next chapter. Living at the beach is wonderful. Unfortunately, the muse is alive and kicking, there's just no time to fit him in. I'll be happy to go home.

wow ... this is wonderful ... i'm so glad that you kept all the weasleys alive ... and even happier that not all of them got off scot-free ... it always bugs me when everyone is alive AND untouched at the end of the war.

good work! I'm looking forward to hte rest of the chapters!

Thanks! I agree, it doesn't seem realistic that there wouldn't be losses or long-term injuries, it's very hard to do it to these beloved characters at the end, however. We all want happily ever afters
